goodbye MV has a wlw plot. the main woman who broke in the house is in love with the other woman who appeared later. as you can see the main character was getting rid of the man's belongings in some parts. you can see also the frame the other woman was holding at the end, the scratched face is the man's and only the other woman's face was visible. wheein even said that "whatever form it is, it's all the same love". wheein said lgbtq+ rights!!

Her voice is like honey indeed, she did a cover of the song "honey' by kalhani and it was just a perfect match. Oh you love cats? well Wheein does too! - She typically does ballads because it suites her voice best and people seem to like them the most. She has a more pop kinda song called "Easy", she expressed that she personally likes doing songs like Easy more but they don't get as much attention. - The girl you see crying in the videoclip is an actress. Wheein is in the video too, but she's just sitting on the floor mostly. So glad you showed Wheein some love. She truly is the backbone of Mamamoo but doesn't get recognized as much. In some interviews she said that it made her feel sad/depressed at times to see all the other member get more recognition/love from fans and just the general public. The better you get to know the group, the more likely it gets that Wheein becomes you bias. But as you said, i think we can all agree that there is no such thing as having just ONE bias in this group.

Yeah, at first I was a Solar stan (/ Moonsun shipper) and had no wreckers. But slowly Wheein snuck in and very close to Solar now. 😍

Mamamoo is often described as 4 soloists in a super-group.

WheeIn's voice is basically honey and acts as glue for whoever she sings with. Because she so perfectly harmonizes with people and had mastery over the whole mid-range she can blend Solar's soaring belts with Hwasas growly soulful notes and Moonbyuls aggressive raps too. Also her collabs she has done have all showcased her ability to literally match anyone's voice and compliment it. The girl has talent in abundance

Mamamoo is such a gift in the industry! Also, she has RNB like song like "easy"! In their CF song "woo hoo" you'll hear her doing a whistle. There's a studio and live version (ofc live is always better when it's mamamoo).

Wheein has said in a couple of interviews that she sometimes gets a bit lost in the group because the other three have such strong personalities. Hwasa and Solar basically jump out at you demanding attention while Moonbyul stands there smouldering and daring you not to notice her. Wheein has what I call those "Oh crap, Wheein!" moments when she steps in to sing or looks at the camera or simply moves and you go "Oh crap, Wheein!" For some reason, there are three MVs of this song. This one, another one where it's just Wheein singing, which is better, and then there is a third, kinda instagrammy one,where she sits on a daybed (surrounded by food - It's a Mamamoo thing) and sings it live to a backing track. This third one is the best. I consider it the most sustained "Oh crap, Wheein!" moment ever.

Whee In sometime lack of stage presence, although she is the best vocalist and the best dancer in Mamamoo. If she is not with member of Mamamoo, she is shy. I feel she usually look like ordinary girl, but when she have confident, she look very pretty.

@@bimotok757 probably she kinda lost that confidence because of some conflicts with K-netz. iirc in 2017 and 2018 she had 2-3 'scandals' about her post in fancafe and 'her dad'. If you look at K-netz comments in naver, they always said that Whee and Solar are 'problematic'. Luckily, Solar managed to tough up herself and not let the hate get into her (like Hwasa?) but Wheein perhaps suffered anxiety because of those attacks Everyone in MMM are angels and I think that Whee has had character developments since 2018 in which she accepts herself as who she is and hopefully she won't have anymore anxiety this year and onwards 😇

The live one also allows you to just ignore the backing track and cry over her vocals, as I do regularly. I'm not a ballad person but damn MMM (all of them) know how to make me forget I prefer upbeat tracks.

The producer of this song (Jungkey) actually released a song called 'Anymore' with Wheein singing in 2017 I think it was. The song did amazing in Korea. She has two live performances of it, if you want to react to it.

Yes, the song hit #1 on the Korean chart. In the interview section of the live sketchbook performance, Jungkey said he chose WheeIn to sing the song because her voice "transcends space and time."

For Solar, her recent releases don't actually showcase much of her voice, I would recommend: "Live like a fool", "Nada sou sou" and "Happy People". For Moonbyul, she recently did a cover "Trying to say goodbye" on their official channel, and her solo "Snow" is really good and captivating. For Hwasa nothing moved me more than her singing "Stay" by Rihanna and her solo "Be calm".

I didn't know what "honey vocals" meant....until I heard Wheein singing. now THAT's honey vocals

I can't believe new people don't really notice her... She's the first person I saw, and I was hooked. Been hooked ever since. She's my bias no doubt.

Mamamoo debuted at an older age than most Kpop groups and because of that are older than most with the maknae being Hwasa already being 25 years old which is only a year younger than the oldest members of Dreamcatcher SuA and JiU who are 26. That's probably partly responsible for their more mature sounding and fuller voices. In additon to this they are all relatively short even by Korean standards. Moonbyul is the tallest at roughly 163cm or 5ft 4in. Because of that their company told them pre-debut that they "Weren't tall like models and couldn't rely on their looks to get by." They would have to be good. This wasn't meant to call them ugly but was more a statement in the confidence of their abilities to carry themselves with the voices and skills where weaker singers may be able to let their looks pick up the slack. As a fun fact Wheein and Hwasa are also childhood friends that went to school together and eventually debuted together in Mamamoo. On a related but separate note Mamamoo's company (Rainbow Bridge World) will soon be debuting a hoobae (junior) group to Mamamoo. The group doesn't have a set debut date yet but it has been said it will be before then end of 2020. They are a seven member group called "Purple Kiss" and while we don't know what kind of music they will be doing they certainly appear to be carrying on the tradition of excellent vocalist at RBW and have some young talent that will definitely be exciting to watch grow. The likely main vocalist, Swan, is only 17 years old. You might want to checkout their individual member debut trailers on the official Purple Kiss KZread channel. They are certainly a group to watch for their upcoming debut and rookie year.

Wheein actually likes R&B the most :) Her song 'Easy' is more of the vibe she usually tends to listen to herself.

and last up... on that "how are these girls in the same group?" question... that's exactly what their ceos were looking for. they wanted a group of multitalented vocalists instead of what was the standard at that time, 'pretty girls who can sing decently and dance decently but mostly look good standing next to each other'. there's nothing really wrong with the latter (i mean, there is but there isn't... if that makes sense) but it's plagued kpop for so long that people expect that's the only way for girl groups, especially. mamamoo helped start changing that and, though it's slow going, many other groups, particularly from outside the big three agencies, are helping expand the views of what a girl group should be like all four members of mamamoo were rejected from multiple agencies for various reasons, despite constantly being told their vocals were amazing. solar was 'too old' since she started training in her 20s, moonbyul and hwasa were 'too fat' (that affected byul a lot more than it did hwasa. which is why byul is so skinny now. she loves to eat as much as the other three but is no longer capable of eating as much as they do). they basically all said 'one last audition then i'm done' and that last audition was with rbw... which made history the group was originally formed around the bond between wheein and hwasa, who were already trainees together under wa entertainment (which is half of what would become rbw). while the two ceos were talking about joining forces they were watching those two playing around together and one ceo pointed them out to the other and went "that right there is what i want. a group that is both vocally talented and can play around together really well". so the two youngest were the concept for the group. solar joined up next and, though they didn't exactly see eye to eye at first, they def got better about it (wheein once described her introduction to solar leaving her thinking "that unnie (older woman) is an interesting existence". moonbyul was the last to join up, though she already knew wheein, so quickly got closer her and hwasa that way (byul and wheein almost debuted together, with byul being the group's main vocalist, before something happened and the group was dissolved). because of the tight, nearly decade long, friendship between wheein and hwasa, solar and moonbyul wound up becoming friends, almost a requirement... and now they're just as inseperable as the other two are. and all four are super close there was originally a fifth member of the group, she was going to be the eldest and the leader. but she decided to not become an idol not terribly long before the group debuted. she's still good friends with them all, particularly solar and hwasa also, rbw likes to ensure their artists have experience with everything, not just the expected singing and dancing or rapping and dancing. as trainees all their artists work on singing, rapping, dancing, composing, writing lyrics, creating choreography and producing. and if they like any of these 'behind the scenes' skills or discover a talent for them, they're encouraged to keep it up. because of this, mamamoo tends to create the choreography for most of their songs, though the title tracks of "gogobebe" and "hip" and their solo title tracks, "eclipse", "spit it out" and "maria" all used big name choreographers (we're expecting similar with both the upcoming group comeback and wheein's solo). they still do the choreo for the b-sides they perform, though other examples of this include rbw's boy group, oneus, creating all the choreography for their own music and the bassist/rapper of the band, onewe, producing a lot of their music, including a song he did with the two rappers of oneus. there's a lot more than just these, but just giving a few examples

Wheein has an angelic voice, I don't know, it's super sweet but at the same time powerful, I love 25 is one of my favorite songs, please check the other solo projects they have. Solar- Spit it out, A song from the past Hwasa- LMM, Maria, Twit Moonbyul- Selfish, Absence, Eclipse, I’m a big fan of Love and Hate And for Group you should probably check- Paint Me, Egostistic, Wind Flower, Gogobebe, Starry Night, Woo Hoo, Decalcomanie, Better Than I thought Live, they have so many good songs It’s difficult to choose🙃

Wheein is on the top 5 vocalists of Korea and that list doesn't have any idol just her !!! She is very big in Korea because since she is the first member to have a solo and it rocked all the musical charts and since then she was topping the charts with her solos without promotions

I love Wheein so much (though I love them all). It's true that she gets the least recognition and it breaks my heart, because she's such an amazing singer, dancer, AND QUEEN. The talent in Mamamoo is absolutely ASTRONOMICAL. They truly are a gem in kpop; of course along with Dreamcatcher 🤗🥰

Funfact about Wheein's Goodbye JungKey (produser of Goodbye) : The original key for Goodbye was lower, but to make it more heartwrenching, I raised the key a bit to where most singers feel burdened. However, Whee In DIDN'T EVEN FLINCH, so I just said 'screw it' and raised the song three keys higher. I'm sorry...

Wheein became my favorite member, she is so talented in many ways, she also draws almost all of her album covers and also the painting in the music video of goodbye :) 25 ist also written by her. She is not a member to put herself in the spotlight so much, that's why many people sleep on her but in my opinion she is the component that connects all the members and holds them together just like honey 🍯❤️ Those harmonies they do wouldn't be able without her but she is not getting the recognition for it. I think her other solo “Anymore” is the more impressive solo. Check out the live for “Anymore” on Yoo Huiyeol’s Sketchbook for her impressive performance. Wheein’s vocal agility really shines in fast upbeat songs though and her cover performance for “Short Hair” on a tv program called duet song festival which got the crowd roaring. 👍👍 if you want to hear her belt, she has another live performance on the same tv show where she just belts half the time. Search for “Forget me now” on duet song festival.

Wheein voice always gets me teary. She really sings right into your heart to make you feel weak. Im weak for Wheein.

What i love about wheein collab songs are when the producers confesses of only thinking about wheein's voice when creating the music. She is sought-after by many producers and always top the charts without promotions. She's getting lots of featurings and solo OSTs this past years too.

There are a couple singers in Korea who might be arguably better singers on a purely technical standpoint. But technique is not everything. Most super technical singers are not good at conveying emotions, especially the diva-style singers. Wheein is not only technical but amazing with emotions and has a unique voice.

That's correct. I'm definitely aware of singers like Sohyang - incredible technique. But this is contemporary popular music where emotion/making someone feel is just as important. Right now I'm focusing on K-Pop & Idols - but in the future I might cover Sohyang, Dimash, Morisette & other INCREDIBLE vocalists too. :)

@@SirAustin I recommend checking out Yoo Yeonjung. She is from a group called Cosmic Girls (wjsn). She is only 21 but in my opinion the best singer in any kpop girl group (along with Girls Generation's Taeyeon). She is pretty good with emotions (not as good as Wheein), very bright and rich voice with a lot of formants and her technique is crazy for such a young age.

For Solar I would totally recommend you the Solar's emotion project, Hello and Spit it out. The emotion's project has many good songs which my favorites are "Nada sou sou", "Happy people", "Only longing grows" and "where the wind rises". BEAUTIFUL SONGS. Spit it out was her debut as a soloist. Its catchy as hell and a great song, coreo and video. (I'd also recommend you her live performance of Hello, its beautiful hahahaha) Moonbyul has a recent cover that she released "Trying to say goodbye" which shows her potential as singer, Absence is really good as well, if you want to see more of her cool side I recommend you her song Moon Movie which is mostly rap (I'd recommend you the live stage or performance its great!) and Eclipse which is a bop and the world wasnt ready for it. For Hwasa as the previous comments she has many covers but I would like to see your reaction to LMM from her recent album and her cover of Watermelon Sugar. To be honest, I first recognised Wheein after I was a Mamamoo’s fan. Wheein; she has a really impressive vocal technique, and I do agree, indeed, that you have said that she has the most stable voice in the group. I’m so happy that she has been more recognised these days after being underrated for too long in the past. To answer your question about having so much talent in a group- the thing about mamamoo is that initially they were told that they can't compete in the industry as a "pretty" group so their fighting chance would have to be their talents. So they worked really hard and they obv didnt fail at showing the world what they've got! Not only did they wow us with their vocals but they also set new standards of beauty in the industry (esp Hwasa) 😊

I'm sure you got a lot of comments about this, but you haaaave to check out Wheein's "Easy". that's my favourite song from her! And also Mamamoo - I miss you, the Queendom performance. You won't regret stanning them. That performance is my favourite and it blowns my mind every time I listen to it ~

Mamamoo's label RBW got the most underrated vocals in kpop, there's Vromance, Oneus, Purple Kiss and Onewe which is a band. I hope you check them out 🙏

Wheein used to hate ballads but her voice suited it so well so alot of producers wanted her for ballads. She doesn't hate it as much now but RnB type songs are still what Wheein likes to do. Also, Wheein gets featured in a LOT of collaborations with other artists.

Maybe if you want to hear more of her vocals you can listen to her live vocals like "I miss you"- queendom version, "goodbye" and "anymore" live version, "two girl love a man", or some of her singing competition performances like the one from the "king of the masked singer", or duet song festival

For Goodbye, the producer actually raised the song 3 tones higher, which in his words. is usually a very hard range for female singers to achieve, but Wheein did it flawlessly :")

When you get to Moonbyul I strongly recommend you react to her cover of "Trying to say goodbye". It is an incredible performance that shows her amazing vocal ability really well. I believe it's available on the official Mamamoo channel. Also as a followup to Wheein I also recommend you listen to her live version of Anymore as it is brilliant and her duet with Hwasa called "Loving one Person". It is beautiful

Hwasa is my bias for so many reasons but Wheein is my bias wrecker for a reason. There is a reason why she is referred to as the backbone of mamamoo she is just that good! she can sing similarly to hwasa (they both were in a jazz club in middle school) or solar or moonbyul and because of that I feel it contributes to how cohesive they can sound in the various genres and styles they try as a group. I haven't come across a wheein song I haven't liked. I love singing but to have the ability to sing as effortlessly and flawless as wheein does with great style is the dream. check out 'ANYMORE'---1theK version makes me cry ooooh or even the ballad she did with Hwasa "loving one person" its nice to directly compare their voices in it---they dont sing together enough!).
