Well done. I was confused about the happy vs sad moments in the MV - I think your explanation makes sense. Any thoughts about the actual paintings seen in the MV? Along the way we see a different painting at 3:32 and two stages of what appears to be the real painting at 2:34 and 5:04 but the set is different each time and we never see Wheein's finished painting with the heart in the MV. The only part I got was that the painting at 3:32 represents her love and she covers the painting and his face in the photo with orange to vent her feelings of jealousy and betrayal. Wheein seems to be presented as the artist but based on the main woman's reaction to the painting it seems like the woman in green is also the artist. I'm not sure what to make of that but Goodbye seems to be a continuation of their series of musical self-portraits. Though it's post 4 Season 4 Color the Goodbye MV seems to be working with the same multi-leveled symbolism about art, music, love and life they introduced in Paint Me. Wheein added another color to their palette. 💜

Thank you so much! :D I really love what you said about Goodbye being a continuation of Mamamoo’s past concepts and it certainly makes sense in the light of what we are shown in Goodbye. As for the painting, I think that it might convey several meanings. If we see it as a representation of art itself, then Wheein could be seen as the painter, the creator of the art we are being presented. But if we see it as a visual representation of love, then it may symbolize the different ways people perceive it. Even if we don’t know for sure who the painter is in the video, the original painting might be a symbol of the love of the boy/girl couple. When the main woman changes it, she changes it according to her own perception of love, so she erases the boy’s picture and uses the orange to express her feelings of jealousy and betrayal. By the end of the video the painting is still a painting - it’s still art - but it’s different because the woman lives her love in a different way. Like Wheein said, it’s the same love (or in this case the same art) but in a different form. Maybe the reason why the video doesn’t show Wheein’s final version is because the main woman’s love is troubled. Her story focuses on the sadness of love rather than on the happiness, so on the canvas we don’t see the love Wheein's heart represents because it was overpowered by the negativity the orange symbolizes. I don’t know, I’m just brainstorming :D but I’m really curious to see if this concept will be developed in future comebacks! Thank you so much for your insight and thank you so much for watching! 💙

@@bookishtheories Thanks for doing more brainstorming! There's a lot to unpack in this MV. The changes in the painting & set may seem like minor details but since I don't believe anything in a kpop video is unplanned or accidental imo they mean something and it's up to us to figure it out. Your idea that the changes represent the different ways people perceive love is a good one. That would make it another perception game being played with the audience, like our expectations about the relationship and the actions of the main character that you pointed out in the video. Wheein's presence implies that she's also part of the perception question too - how well do we perceive/know the artist behind the art? Imo she asked the same question at the end of Easy when she slid down in the bathtub in her Sherlock hat, a metaphor for hiding in plain sight after a whole song & MV filled with sight gags and visual metaphors about perception and seeing/knowing.
