@@TheCaffeineRacer I have seen your latest videos. They are very helpful :) I'm hoping to eventually upgrade to the same motor because mine is getting a bit old. I was worried about how it would fit but your videos confirmed that it would work. Did you have a hard time fitting the third 4400mah battery in there? I'm curious what your range will be. @@phamworks without moving the power switch it's tight but it's fits just but at the mo the case and switch is the original. I am gonna fit a fan system to cool inside it next. And maybe adesign an expansion chamber for the battery box. Doing some short rides and the motor seems to be fine with the power only just getting warm. I will have to do a real range test but a struggle at the current time. I guess I could do it on my commute and add it up.

Those are the best cheap batteries for any application. I use then in overvolted Razor E100 scooters.

Great idea on the plastic wheel well. Going to do the same on mine. I have the same over-volt setup. One thing I can tell you from experience is that the stock motor will not last. I used mine for 3 mile trips and burned it after 4 uses.

Oh I am up to 18miles now. It gets warm but not hot. I am having an issue with my rear brake binding on. I only weigh 69kg so not much weight I also make sure I kick to start and don't always full throttle it. When it burns out I will add the drone motor. I will be 3d printing some small mudguard soon will make a video on it soon and sell through ebay cheap

I was averaging 18mph before it burned. It started to drop to 13mph when I knew something was wrong. I weigh about 78kg and just purchased a motor rated at 500w 24v from eBay. Hoping I can still over-volt it with 36v without damaging it but going to keep an eye on the temp. If I think it’s going to burn, then I’ll try converting an alternator motor to BLDC, only I’d have to change the controller again and I’m not too sure about RPMs.

Tim I’ve bought the same speed controller that you have but I found a couple of problems, the battery cable does not fit my razor battery cable and also on the speed controller battery cable it has an extra wire coming from the top, any ideas on what it could be?

I have 3 razors that i have collected over time for a project. My Idea is tandem drive wheels. Gonna use the stock motors since i have them. Question is, if I run 36v what wattage controller should I run to handle two stockers wired parallel where their amperage will double

What speed and running time did I get after doing all the mods ?

I changed the capacitor to a 63v one and when I connected the battery it shot across the room without me touching the rev, can you explain why its spinning without me touching it,

All links in the description :) they are Hover board batteries. I don't know why I didn't use the circuit breaker I will have to wired one in, have some printed parts for sale check my other videos :)

Has the motor blew up yet or is it still going good ? I’m thinking of buying the same speed controller and using two 18v drill battery’s for my e300

Hi Tim, hope all is going well! I’ve got my razor e300 up to this mk1 build same as this with the 2 x 4.4 Ah batteries into the stock motor. Can you let me know if you can remember what kind of range you got with this setup? I’m getting about 25-30 mins atm at full chat (@20ish mph) I’m trying to work out if I’ve bought a couple of fake Samsung hoverboard packs although they weren’t that cheap! Many thanks

Sounds about right at full speed maybe adapt your riding style to save power and make sure tyres are pumped up nicely

Thanks Tim, I went 3.5 miles to work then I charged it there (just in case) for the journey back (uphill). So fits my purpose for now.. If I fit a 500w motor and feather the throttle I should get more range in theory?

Currently running 350W motor with 36V 1000w controller and (3) 12v 7ah batteries. I've got some really big hills and batteries are dying quickly. Should I go with bigger lead acid (12v 9ah) or go with your setup of the (2) 36V lithium batteries?

@@cjtrunk3140 14A is the number that's important a single good lithium 36v pack will be capable of deliver 4.4A at peak. So 3 of those could deliver 13.2A peak close to the limit of your motor. So cool would be a good idea 💡 but the 350w motor could then work to its best and range would be extended. Remember we are using motors in a way they are not meant to when we over volt ⚡ to 36v on a lower bolt motor. But it's the amps being pushed at will melt it. So if you ride carefully it won't melt :) full throttle all the time or up hill wouldn't be good

@@colvinau1403 I did buy that controller and completely changed my mind,i bought a brushless hub motor and controller i copied " Caffeine racer's" battery parallel....My project is an all different kind of scooter.

How did you connect your charging port and power bottom.

So it's the original wired coming off the scooter from the power switch and charging port. I didn't disconnect them. But the wires in the controller for the charging port were inverted so took them out of the connect and swapped them over. It will blow the charge with a bang. I will make a close up video for you ASAP. Wiring diagram is on the screen for controller early in this video 📹 :)

Curious to see how you joined and soldered the XT60s. Again thanks for the interactive Q&A. I am sure I will have another question. :-) I am about 20% into a full rebuild.

Ive used 2 battery packs nearly the same as yours but it has charging leads ,so I have both connections outside 2 separate chargers....when charging just one pack i ended up charging the other from one charging port(is that good or bad battery management ?)

Sounds a little complex I guess you could just join the charging wires to the single charging port that would make it simpler

Since there’s so many different brand that are different prices and I don’t know if some are faulty or not. Thanks for your quick replies btw it’s amazing

@@colvinau1403 sadly I bought them 2 years ago now cronovirus the supplies have changed so much I am not sure what is available in the battery range. Would suggest never buy cheap. Good cells cost 3.5 to 4£ a unit

Yeah using the original switch and there is. Connection on the esc for the power switch so just connected to that with the existing cables

@@TheCaffeineRacer That part I get but it's two prongs and the actual switch has 3 prongs. Correct me if I'm wrong top brass is negative, then other two are positive. I tried every combination and I can get the power switch to turn on but it won't start the motor. The only way to get the motor to run or work by connecting the "Power Locks" together, basically putting a paper clip does the trick, I will improve it eventually. I would like to utilize the switch so I don't have to keep opening the cover to power it off. How did you connect yours?

@@nebpimentel7349 ok well that is a fire hazard ur esc will always be on. Have u got the circuit breaker reset button still connected. I will have to strip mine to take u a photo email me at Info@tiny-3d.co.uk if you are interested. Positive was top I believe I am not using the trip switch I removed it as was for the 24v system has yours tripped. I will reinstalling mine soon as a safety feature

Great video, maybe you can help me. I have a 24-volt 350 watt motor, with a 36 volt 800 watt controller connected to one 40 volt 6 amp hour Ryobi lithium battery. Every time I put the scooter under load, the system well shut off, yet when I connect the system to my 36 V 500 watt controller, it works great, do you have any opinions on why this might happen?

Sound like the controller is allowing the battery to discharge more amps than it can handle. I would stick to your 500w controller. That's very odd it might be faulty

The controller voltage must match battery voltage set up, 36V battery set up to 24V controller will burn it. And wattage on the controller must not be higher than rated amp on the motor. The wattage on motor is just NOMINAL number the real number is the amp it can handle. For ex; 24V 350W 19A max motor, you can use upto 36V 450W controller. 24V 500W 28A max motor, you can use upto 36V 672W controller. you can overvolt but the controller watt can not be higher than what the motor can handle. But in overall try to always match the voltage and wattage of battery system, controller and motor for long lasting safe run of system.

I'm having problems with my 36 v controller it only has 3 pin for throttle and my cable has 4 pin. With 2 brown and 2 orange wires? Any help would be appreciated.

@@TheCaffeineRacer hello thanks for replying no mine is the stock throttle with upgraded 36v controller. My stock throttle has 4 wires and the new controller has 3 wire connecter.

@@alexbekkala1718 ok the stock throttle is not actuated it only has on or off so I am guessing it just need positive and negative connection for it the wires are probably just doubled. As it's a basic switch. I advice a cheap thumb throttle on ebay they are under £10 mine was £6?now I think about it something like this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332586360572 you will be able to control accelation with that with urs it's gonna be off then full power not a great way to ride

I didnt but wondering with the increased amps i am pulling weather it would just trip over and over maybe i will have to try it. it ould be a good safety feeture dont know what the rating on it was though as mine is removed

36v 500 w will work with a 24v 250 w motor? Is that what you mean by over volting?

Yeah, when you over volt it means to increase the voltage of a rated motor so a motor that is rated at 24 volts 250 watts and you overvolt that motor with a 36 volt battery you are increasing the rated voltage of the motor which is overvolting.

@@albread It depends on what type of riding conditions and weather you have, if you want to overvolt a 24 volt motor, I would use a 24 volt 500 watt rated motor and not go over 36 volts, if you want a motor I would go to fastscooters on ebay and buy a 500 watt direct fit motor that they sell for around 75 dollars. If you want to use the original motor I probably wouldn't use it at full throttle all the time but using a stock motor can work but you just have to be careful not to ride on the motor for too long at one time. You could also put a fan on the motor as well to help it cool down and not overheat the motor.

@@albread Yeah that will also work too because the motor can take more current through the motor meaning that the motor will be able to handle overvolting better than a stock 250 watt motor would because the old motor can't take as much amps which makes the original motor get hotter and may cause to burnout but a 24 volt 350 watt motor should be good.

Not yet that's not the direct I wanna go goal was make a fast realiable scooter with out too many far out changes that other might follow. I just uploaded two more videos of the new mods it's alot better now

@@iiizaiah3794 well if you have 36v batteries then a 36v charger which will charge upto 42v and you will need a gx12-3 marine plug to adapt it to the original port on the scooter

Sorry I deleted and was rethinking what I was going ask again. LOL. Thanks for replying, I really appreciate it. Is there any reason why you didn't re-use or cut the connectors from the original Razor charger? It's not color coded but I was thinking I could possibly salvage it rather than throwing it away.

@@nebpimentel7349 they were in moulded plastic would have been a pain to strip down was all so got new one but yeah i used a GX12 connector very sturdy. 500w motor goes in today.
