Ray Lamontagne - Shelter (Amazing Version)

Музыка

www.raylamontagne.com/ (Support Ray and buy his music!) =)
This video is of Ray Lamontagne preforming his song "Shelter" Live at the BBC in London
Lyrics:
I guess you don't need it
I guess you don't want me to repeat it
But everything I have to give I'll give to you
It's not like we planned it
You tried to stay, but you could not stand it
To see me shut down slow
as though it was an easy thing to do
Listen when
All of this around us'll fall over
I tell you what we're gonna do
You will shelter me my love
And I will shelter you
I will shelter you
I left you heartbroken, but not until those very words were spoken
Has anybody ever made such a fool out of you
It's hard to believe it
Even as my eyes do see it
The very things that make you live are killing you
Listen when all of this around us'll fall over
I tell you what we're gonna do
You will shelter me my love
I will shelter you
Listen when
All of this around us'll fall over
I tell you what we're gonna do
Hey you will shelter me my love
I will shelter you
If you shelter me too
I will shelter you
I will shelter you

i really think he is a verry important artist helping to preserve a genre of music thats fallen by the wayside and forgotten by corporate music. the first 20 seconds has more substance than every song played on the radio in the last 24 hours.

You are so correct; I completely agree. Can't stand the garbage that is being played on the radio today ; it's awful and not real music or talent. Real music like Chris Stapleton's Tennessee Whiskey and Ray La Montagnue's music need to be preserved for eternity.❤💚💛❤

Ughhh.,......... I mean, sure. I mean, I'm here because it's a beautiful song. But why hate on the music of the moment just to love this song? I think our kids music will be good in its own way....and ours will be ours I think if you think modern music is "played on the radio" then you're maybe an old soul. And that's okay. But no need to hate on now just because you remember then.

Dear mom: Ray LaMontagne holds a really, really special place in my heart. This musical genius was working in a shoe factory when he heard a Stephen Stills song one morning, and suddenly decided in a flash of inspiration to quit his job and pick up a guitar. I can't get over the thought of how ballsy that was, and what a bohemoth of an artist he became from the simple decision one day to just go for it. His music is absolutely transcendent for me now, and he is to my later years what Dave Matthews was to my earlier years. This song will just never leave my mind after Bob and I slow-danced to it in the living room the day he moved out of our perfect little house on Cargil Lane. One of those moments you can never forget.

An old soul. Simple as. Writes songs from the heart and with meaning and emotes it with as much soul as Otis Redding, as much restraint as Smokey Robinson and with real conversational language akin to early 90's David Gray, but with his own unique voice. A true inspiration in these times of fake posturing and mind numbing blandness. He makes me feel like my childhood heroes did. Carry on the good shit Ray.

Rare genius. And difficult to capture with relatively simple things like video cameras and a few placed microphones. Even a well crafted, warm, recording studio where producer Ethan Johns created a comfortable space to lay down perfect takes of songs like "Trouble" and "Hold You in my Arms" still require the live charge of a songwriting and performance force that only the brilliant positive charged wires from a Ray Lamontagne can provide. Those live wires, connected to the musician's bare soul are priceless. But congrats, and props, etc to BBC 4 for capturing the magic on a soundstage across the pond where so many top performances have inspired so many more. Having seen Ray several times, his onstage comfort level translates over directly into the listener's enjoyment. Exponentially. Ray and this collection of players delivers the goods; we are indeed fortunate the gear was rolling. Hard to picture a world where a minute of this wouldn't connect to the listener on a deep level where the good stuff resonates. Brilliant.

Following the release of his first album I became an obsessive fan, he came to Glasgow and me and the wife were there. A solitary figure came walking on to the stage with his guitar and the minute he opened his mouth to sing me and my wife just welled up, a special ability, almost supernatural performance. I saw him twice after that both times great but nothing could top the first time we saw him. Spiritual.

AN OPINION....a "LIKE" button press on a singer's creation which has taken them to another world of angst, anger, loss of love, loss of love ones and a shit-load of emotional roads, when pressed should send an automatic "THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND COMMENT ABOUT MY CREATIVITY" to the sender... On the flip side, anyone who even gets the idea into their mind to insult somebody's body of artwork by hitting an "I HATE THIS(Disguised as a DISLIKE BUTTON)" should also be sent an automatic response..... ........ with "FUCK OFF NOBHEAD...IT WAS NEVER WRITTEN FOR YOU TO LISTEN TO IT ANYWAY....IT WAS PENNED FOR TWO REASONS..1. I ENJOYED WRITING IT and 2. IT WAS ONLY EVER WRITTEN ORIGINALLY FOR FOLK WHO ACTUALLY "LIKE" IT AND GET SOMETHING OUT OF ME WEARING MY HEART ON MY SLEEVE, CUTTING INTO THAT HEART AND ALLOWING MY SOUL TO POUR OUT, NAKED IN FRONT OF ALL TO SEE. IF KZread HAD ORIGINALLY PUT A "LIKE" BUTTON AND A "NOBHEAD" BUTTON AS THE TWO CHOICES....wonder how many would press the NOBHEAD button?.....betting quite a few. ....as some may have guessed, I'M A SONGWRITER.....who hates LIKES/DISLIKES buttons....and is now campaigning to have the DISLIKE BUTTON....erm....DISLIKED enough, to remove it.

This song and performance are top-to-bottom brilliant, loved this track for like 13 years now. But you know that part that gets me? This is clearly a post-breakup song if you listen to the verses. This is about two people who stay friends/love each other, even after the romance is done, hearts were broken, etc. Definitely gets me in the feels, esp. since it came out early in my ex-wife (and still friends) and I'z relationship, and we used to love it back then, with no clue how prescient it would eventually become.

Ray is like the only artist that I seek out the live videos rather than the studio stuff. I've got all his albums, and they're all incredible, but these songs are just so much better when Ray does them live. They are so much more powerful, and his voice.... live his voice just seems to have so much more soul. I swear he is like an exorsist casting the soul from within him out. I bet if you paused the video at certain times, you might actually be able to see the soul escaping. But who in their right God Damn mind would want to pause Ray Lamontagne?

Just an opinion but the only sad thing is that folk are missing out on the sheer quality of Ray Lamontagne's creativity. I only found and discovered him on album 3. It was a beautiful moment though because when i discovered that there were two previous albums...i went straight to a shop to support the man and his music and bought both of his first two albums as well..and those since. SO..he got me, hook, line and sinker. On top of this, for him to come out with SUCH A SIMPLE THING was like icing on the cake. I rang round to everybody i know who loved his music and told them "BUY THIS ALBUM..it's worth it for this song alone. This great man and his creativity are both out of the top drawer in terms of sheer quality and his dedication to his crafting of songs. As a songwriter myself, i am fully aware of the struggle to "make it!!"...whatever that is of course. I actually felt that i'd MADE IT when the first person(in Germany actually...thanks Germany) bought Jasmine Lamport's first three songs...we're co-writers and to be able to phone her up and tell her "we've sold some songs" was the most pleasurable moment of my writing career so far...and hers it seems as her comment was.."O.M.G...seriously...ALL THREE SONGS..ALL THREE...that's fantastic".... Betting Ray had the same reaction once upon a time. He is human after all. To all Ray Lamontagne fans...I SALUTE YOU ALL...and your support for this humble man with an incredible voice and amazing songs.
