Terrain is too flat for proper drainage, and it would likely clog with dust before it gets used as intended. This isn’t just a Dubai thing, flash floods are a hazard common to all hot deserts.

Actually homeless live in those drainage system, but when it’s do rain in Vegas which is like never. They don’t flood like Dubai

It doesn’t, cloud seeding can’t produce rain that heavy and it would have been done before it hit the city. Unless you’re talking about climate change due to carbon emissions.

The storm exposed how cheap everything is in Dubai. Every "luxurious" malls caved in and flooded. Major infrastructures failed like some metro stations are badly flooded that trains can't go through. The busiest and largest road is also severely flooded. And this is just from ONE day of rain!

@@amyrick5631 i live in Dubai. I literally experienced the storm. I came from a tropical country where it rains multiple times a year. Compared to what I experienced back home, the storm yesterday wasn't a "year's worth of rain" at all. The city was just not ready for such a storm. It's kinda disappointing too that they didn't build a good drainage system in case of such storms. Even light rain will cause flooding here. A lot of malls that are supposed to be luxurious and high end had their roofs collapse causing the water to flood the interiors. I doubt what you said about western infrastructure because they're much more prepared for storms since they also experience it multiple times a year. They also experience snow storms and heat wave so I don't know how you think their infrastructure wouldn't take a average storm like this.
