Great video , is it possible to use raspberry pi with night vision camera to wire connect it to a small tft screen. So I can use it als a handheld night vision watching device?

They weren't overselling that "high quality" statement. Looking at the sample images, they do have a lot of nice detail. This would make very nice time lapses for those 3D printing videos, and monitoring prints easier for services like spaghetti detector. What a useful video showcasing the image quality.

You are doing a very good job! I would like to equip my four nesting boxes with Raspberry cameras for 24/7 live streams online. But I'm not sure which camera to use because they're supposed to run day and night. I am thinking of the Arducam HQ Camera Module with 6mm CS Lens for Raspberry Pi, 12.3MP 1/2.3 inch IMX477. What do you think about my considerations and what do I need in addition?

Sounds like a brilliant addition to your nesting boxes project! Defintiely a camera that will let you see in the dark as well as in the daylight would be optimal. Also quality of image coming to you will be of value too. There's a lot variables and choices to decide on. Interesting question! You can definitely take Hi Res images at that distance. Hey dude, this is awesome. You reckon the RPI Pico would handle the HQ Camera module ? I'm thinking if I setup maybe 3 RPI Picos with these modules, then you have a 3 way camera for vlogging or interviews and different camera shots right ? It might be a bit cheaper than having 4 RPI4s on those "big" boards 😀

I love the idea, currently however I have only seen GPIO connected cameras work on the RPI Pico. I will be very impressed when we see a Pico running a HQ camera but I do have all my fingers and toes crossed.

im so intressted in a Resp Camera ^^ but i dont have the money now for this, so you build this and just a question, to you think it would work with a Elgato cam link? so i wanna use it as a replacement for High price Camera? would be nice if i could use it in OBS and still can change ISO and more.

Worth pointing out, on the latest Bullseye OS, the HQ Camera is detected automatically, you don't have to change the system configuration. Also, the camera commands have changed from things like raspistill to libcamera-still. I believe you can install the legacy commands in a package, but the new commands try to be backward compatible. Still a great video!

Hey mate, you can definitely record video longer than the 5 second limit. For example lets take the terminal command | raspivid -t 8000 -o video.h264 |. By altering the number after -t you can decided how long you want the video in milliseconds, for instance above take a 8 second video. Also with the new 'Bullseye' Raspberry Pi OS there has also been changes to the cameras terminal commands. All the Raspberry Pi supported lenses are excellent, in regard to quality the main aspect that affects it is the camera module used. The high quality camera module has produced the best images I have snapped with a Raspberry Pi.

The Raspberry Pi only has one port to accept a camera, it may be possible to find a HAT that allows extra cameras to be attached but firing them simultaneously may be beyond the capabilities of the Pi's hardware

So video streaming with FullHD and 50 fps is possible? Because I read that the pi only supports 30 fps at this resolution. I am going to use this camera to stream videos of birds at my bird feeder.

1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps or 12MPix at 10 fps are the highest quality/fps that a Raspberry Pi 4 can capture with this HQ camera module. And a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B can output footage at 4K at 30 fps. Hope this helps!

anyone try to push the fps limits on this particular camera? I've seen it done in other videos with other modules.

I love that idea. The Raspberry Pi camera can record at really high FPS (this fellow cranked it to 660FPS kzread.info/dash/bejne/n2d21Y-ymLrAY7A.html) You would likely need to have a zebra pattern behind the target ball (proper Mythbusters stuff - kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4po2rh6iaaxaLQ.html) and allow the Raspberry Pi some time after data capturing to calculate speeds. However I have no doubt it is possible 😊

raspistill looks like deprecated. returns error ERROR: the system should be configured for the legacy camera stack

Can a camera mount be removed to reduce its size or is it permanently a fixed to the device?

Lens and Camera Mount can come apart. The mount on the back of the PCB has two Allen bolts that you could unscrew to remove the black section of the Camera mount. Then you would be left with a bare light sensor (very easy to damage).

Hello, I was wondering could you use to run a camera app on android. So I play darts and the came out with a camera system called gran cam, but they have a app you also can use called gran camera that you can use a old phone. The new gran cam and used a old phone cameras suck and the dont preform. I want to build a better system with a pi and a better camera. Can you help

You definitely can 😊 Add cool image effects by using the | camera.image_effect | to apply a particular image effect. Depends on what you mean wirelessly, if you mean to send the video from the raspberry pi to another device, you could find a good quality way to stream it over the internet. If you mean wirelessly from the camera to the Pi, that might be a bit trickier. The raspberry pi is designed to be portable, so by the time you power the camera and transmit video from it, it might just be easier to put the camera and pi together. If you want to, post a question on our forums, our staff are a lot more active in answering questions that youtube: forum.core-electronics.com.au Just give us a little bit of information about what you are trying to do and your setup. Hey mate, your question is a little confusing, but if you are talking about connecting 2 of these cameras to 1 Pi you are out of luck. The Pi 4 and earlier models only have 1 camera connector so if you want more cameras you will need to use a usb camera or webcam. However, the Pi 5 is about to come out which now has 2 camera connectors on it. (Although it has a new connector so you will need to buy an adapter cable but they are relatively cheap) I hope this answered your questions!

Hi, The Raspberry Pi HQ Camera module does not come with a lens. It features a CS mount so you can use the Raspberry Pi official lenses or dive into the world of pre-existing CCTV camera lenses.

Not a piece of hardware I am closely familiar with. I would double check all the connections and make sure to focus the camera. Focus the camera by running the terminal command to keep the camera displaying what it is showing and rotating the lens (or potentially via the back focus ring). Hope above helps you!

can you do like a continous recording but saving it to a new file in every 2 minutes? ( just in case if lose power dont corrupt the already recorded video file)

You have jumped in at an exciting time for Raspberry Pi, there has just been an update to Raspberry Pi OS (you will have probably noticed the different background picture). This has come with all types of changes but most notably for you a change to the terminal commands for Cameras. The Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera has a built-in IR filter to block out infrared, you could theoretically remove the filter but you would probably be better off with a IR specific camera.

Unfortunately Raspberry Pi don't manufacture an IR version of this specific camera, they only have the NoIR at the moment, and I'm unaware of any third parties making IR camera modules with interchangeable lenses.

sadly raspberry pi changed raspistill to a complicated non-functioning software which doesnt works on my picamera anymore...
