    A nifty little SBC. The RPi5 will run OpenCV and TensorFlow Lite very nicely with GPIO PWM servo control. 🥳 Orange Pi 5 should have make servo drone kits. Go RPi5! 🥰 Thank you.

    Can you run the board with only passive cooling heat sink? At reduced clock speed?

  • @ElektorTV

    @ElektorTV

    8 ай бұрын

    Yes, you can run the Raspberry Pi 5 with passive cooling. The Raspberry Pi 5 comes equipped with a 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, which operates at a clock speed of 2.4 GHz and is known for its increased performance compared to its predecessor, the Raspberry Pi 4. While the CPU in the Raspberry Pi 5 offers improved performance, it's also designed to be power-efficient, which can help manage heat generation.

    For me the only welcome addition is the PCIe interface. I would have preferred to see a couple of USB-C ports instead of type A - it is 2023 after all. By the way, the Ethernet ports are RJ45, not RJ11 🙂

    Don't agree. The USB A allows me to use my old peripherals, I appreciate this a lot. I use one for the connexion to an SSD, another one for the keyboard/mouse switch. I would be annoyed without at least this one.

    @@tjeanneret Yes I agree. I am not saying remove all 4 USB-A ports. Remove only the 2 USB-A 2.0 ports. Also, with the PCIe interface, I can now use M.2 SSD's with the R-Pi instead of using the USB port 🙂.

    Love the introduction of the Pi 5. Just wish it wasn't shadowed by the lie pushed by raspberry in March of 2023 that stated they had a shortage of Pi4's because of supply disruptions. Clearly they stopped production of Pi4's to begin manufacturing of the Pi5's.

    not to mention the worst industry HDMI connectors. and for the price you can get a mini pc with m.2 and proper hdmi. At least there will be no shortages this time given most ppl I know are well disappointed and not getting one.
