This is a nice test, but In the real world, you'd want to use GPUs or the cloud to do these tests (see my other videos for examples of those).

Hashcat with a multi gpu rig will blow away any cpu setup. CPUs are good for a lot of task but not GREAT at any one thing. The cpu on a gpu on the other hand is amazing at solving hashes. You’re talking the difference between a few thousand guesses a second and a few million.

What I don’t understand is you need to have the user ID as well as the password to go into someone’s bank account for instance. The website won’t allow you to try 4000× per second to crack the password. How does that allow someone to crack the password using raspberry pi 5? Thank you.

Why don't password companies utilize hackers to hack into peoples own accounts. Seems like that would set up an environment which leverages the best hacking methods to obtain the credentials rather than keeping them memorized or written down although I don't see why anyone would want to wait half a day to a full day to get their credentials but it'd be cool if that's how things worked. Although now that I think about it you would still need some kind of password to make a formal request to hack into your own account so I guess this will never work out in practice

The pi 5 eats more Amps, and cost double. Not a huge update.

Should it not be 1.7 times faster? If the pi4 is 1000h/s and the pi5 is 2700h/s that would mean that the pi5 does the same job faster with 1700h/s. Right?

So if we travel 200 km, me @ 100km/h and you @ 200 km/h ...I would finish the journey in 2 hours and you would finish in 1 hour ...that means there is just one hour difference between us, which makes you arrive at the finish 1 hour earlier...so why is that 2 times faster? Is it because I'm doing the same journey, in twice the amount of time?
