As great as this version is, like others, I suggest 'Comfortably Numb' from the 1994 Pulse concert, as well as 'Sorrow.' Both have amazing guitar solos. The Pulse concert also features three of the four members of Pink Floyd (Roger Waters had left by that time, but Nick Mason and Richard Wright are still there in the Pulse shows). Side note: I was fortunate to see David Gilmour on this tour from 2016, in Chicago. It was an amazing show.

If the final ends up gilmour vs lifeson the two songs you guys gotta hear are comfortably numb live off of pulse by pink Floyd and Jacobs ladder live off of exit stage left by rush. Also just a kind of interesting story involving gilmour. I got to meet Danny Carey from tool once and I asked him if he ever got to see Floyd live. He was kind of surprised by the question but he said that he got to see them twice and that in his opinion David gilmour has the best live guitar tone/sound he's ever heard.

I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know, and I know all the great ones.

Pink Floyd was named by Syd Barrett one of the bands founding members who left the band in 1968 due to mental illness. Barrett named the band after two great pioneers of the blues first name. They are Pinkney “Pink” Anderson and Floyd Council. Hence the name “Pink Floyd”. Pink Anderson performing “Thousand Woman Blues”. You should give any live version of Steve Vai a listen to, in particular 'Tender Surrender' (viewed over 50 million times), 'Whispering a Prayer' or 'For the Love of God'. You won't be disappointed, all the best from the far north of New Zealand.

I was at the 1994 Pink Floyd concert where they played Dark Side of the Moon in it’s entirety for the first time since the 70s tour. IT WAS UNEXPECTED AND AMAZING. We were like wait, is this really happening! The only sad part was that was after Roger Waters left the band. But later on I got to see Roger’s DSOTM tour where he played the whole album too. So technically I’ve seen all of Pink Floyd perform Dark Side even if it wasn’t all at the same time.

Pink Floyd IS The Greatest Band Ever and Dark Side of the Moon is the Greatest album ever recorded, it's a masterpiece. I've seen Pink Floyd three times, the first was The Wall at the LA Sports Arena, 2/7/1980 in "Quadraphonic Sound". THEY ACTUALLY HAD AN AIRPLANE FLY FROM THE BACK OF THE ARENA, OVER THE CROWD AND CRASH INTO THE STAGE! The Second two times was the Pulse tour at the Rose Bowl 4/17/1994 and 4/18. I've seen Roger on his solo tours four times and Dave on five of his. I've seen the Aussie Floyd seven times and been blessed to be able afford seats in the first 20 rows for all of shows mentioned.

Jimmy Hendrix put blues on the map. Which quickly turned into what we were know call rock and roll. Listens to purple hays voodoo child little wing. The list good on even his rendition of the star spangled banner is so heavily psychedelic. Hendricks Mark on music is perhaps more influential then any other modern day musician. He created such a different sound. Plus he is almost impossible to duplicate.

reaction at 6:38... you're welcome technically this was not a Pink Floyd concert, It is billed as David Gilmour. None of his PF bandmates were there. David Gilmour has a library of solo work but in his shows he incorporates PF music. Voting on who is the best guitarist is futile. Those of us who grew up on this music don't look at it that way, we may have our favorites that may or may not change with time but we just admire their unique talents and sound and their contribution to rock music.

We can't forget Randy Rhodes as much as we do. His time was so short. When the guitar conversation comes up and you remind people of Randy they all react the same." Oh yeah, he's one of the greatest ever, I forgot"

I love both, they do their own thing and give pleasure. I listen to the music I'm in the mood for, sometimes Gilmour, sometimes Page. Especially sometimes Joni Mitchell ;)

Check out the pulse live version of this song. Nick Mason’s drum sticks and kit glow in the dark and he spins one of his drum pads while playing it. Neither mason or wright are playing on this version.

I would react to either Pulse's Comfortably Numb or High Hopes for a classic Gilmour solo.......One vote for Floyd Friday's right here!! You can start with Echoes Parts l & ll Live in Pompeii(1972 the Original) and thank me later
