Welcome back & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。Su and Moa (MOA !!) proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the producer of BM, for your serendipity. Some 13 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us.

Alright yes Yui left, Su and Moa are still together, yes 1 take no real effects or post production done, Moa had 3 backup vocalists (the ladies in white robes). Best way to make analogy on how great this was, (since America really doesn't have a company that does this except the following) Japanese artists and musicians getting invited to being on The First Take Channel is like Rappers in The U.S. getting invited to Freestyle on "Sway in the Morning on Shady45". Mirror Mirror just dropped today as well but can't wait for an Album Reaction for you two man great reaction!!!!

Sounds like just additional harmonies from a backing track. I think it's two voices, one doing the chord's fifth interval and one the third, while live moa probably is the lowest voice. Both sound to be just moa's voice and the three robed people were not singing.

Check your Funko Pops, that's clearly Moa on the video 🤣 They just released "Mirror Mirror" the fifth single of the new album "THE OTHER ONE" which is being released gradually today (or tomorrow) March 24th (depending on your time zone).

Yayy😃 welcome back to the Foxhole.🦊 It was Yui who left, this was Su and Moa (and the figures in white were the backing vocals on the "oh oh oh" parts with Moa). At the end of the second show in January they teased us with the possible reveal of a new third member at their next shows on 1st and 2nd April - most seem to think it will be the last remaining Avenger Momoko, but we don't know yet. This is a beautiful version of what was already a beautiful song ... and yes you need to watch the original lyric video. Other songs released were 'Metal Kingdom', 'Divine Attack - Shingeki', Light and Darkness' and today they released 'Mirror Mirror' (and the new album 'The Other One').

Monochrome is the 2nd single released from this new upcoming album called "The Other One" is gonna be released next March 24, you can watch the official lyrics video to know the impressions we had first time watching. Here's some official info: "From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors." Original version is just beautiful like this one, but the tone might mislead some of us with the dark vibes. We're waiting for the live proshot version at Makuhari Messe 2023 performed at the end of January, one of the highlights in the live concerts was this beautiful song, SuMetal made everyone raise their phones to illuminate this dark world. They already have softer version and piano version of certain songs before like "Akatsuki Unfinished Version" and The One - Stairway To Living Legend, i suggest you those after hearing the original version. YuiMetal isn't part of the group anymore after 2018, the only official members are SuMetal and MoaMetal in this special collaboration with The First Take project, the extra backing chorus are probably some of the former SG members and now part of this new BM metalverse with a new young BM mirror unit they already introduced at latest concerts. Also a new official member is coming next live concert at Fox Day, most likely Momoko Okazaki, she really deserves that spot after so many years, but like always OTFGK.🍑❤ Btw The First Take premise is just one take and no second chance, but that doesn't mean no post production or little arrangements here and there, despite this we all know what SuMetal is able to do reaching and melting our hearts. Nice reaction. Maaaaannn it's been a while since you reacted to Babymetal. They now have several new songs out. I hope to see those reactions soon. So as others have said that is Moa. You almost lost your Babymetal badges over that. But you guys covered all their previous songs, so we forgive you. While this video is a first take. they still managed to get some marketing in. Babymetal teased a new member coming soon at the end of their last concert. Here we get the marketing tease with the three back up sings dressed in white. Babymetal long ago dressed that way for a concert. The original 3. they're reminding us of what they once were. Then they show them holding hands. Moa spoke about how she felt that during the performance of Shine with just her and Su. It felt like they were holding hands they became so connected. The image reminding us how Su and Moa have grown. After that they show the three of them holding hands making a new connection. Letting us know that Babymetal will become three once more. Some hope for Yui's return. They did mention a new metal. For me that means it's not Yui. Momoko is the last avenger dancer still with them. and IMO has put in the work and deserves the chance to be the new metal. Or it could be somebody completely different. As they say Only the Fox god Knows. The performance was a fantastic display of their singing ability. The other thing is the minor miracle you just witnessed of Moa and Su standing still while singing. Usually, they're dancing. Also, Su and Moa were facing each other. One smirk from Moa and this video could have gone completely differently. If you noticed Su kept looking up. Avoiding Moa's gaze. So proud of Moa for keeping it together and not giving in to wanting to giggle. We know she wanted to smile. She always does. But here Moa's been learning the death stare from Su. They recently explained in an interview that they early on decided to go on for at least 10 years, they had planned to take a break already back in 2017, four years before it happened and they had also already decided to continue afterwards. Su mentioned that she could sing for 8-10 hours some days during the break, if I'm not mistaken. I've heard she loves karaoke (?).

I understand the song is in reference to the A-Bombing of Hiroshima. Su's hometown!! That is Moa!!! Yui left due health reasons. Su is 24 now, she has been performing on stage since she was about 6yo. Having this memorized is easy with her talent and skills.

Based on Su's comments in the recent interview in Nikkei Entertainment, it seems that the connection to Hiroshima is one that fans inferred based on the visualizer. Su herself said that she thought the song was "light" and she was surprised when fans interpreted it as a sad song with a serious message, so it seems that the song doesn't have that meaning to her.

Babymetal's new album THE OTHER ONE, released today, 24th March. They've already released 5 tracks from it, including 'Mirror, Mirror' yesterday. 'Divine Attack' was the first release and they've been dropping one track every month except December, including the MV to Monochrome..

The First Take is a Sony promotional channel and originally featured only Sony artists. They do Rehearse, sound check and level check all they want. But according to their rule, once recording starts it is the one and only take. However, as with all things marketing the only real rule is don't get caught. And yes, there was reverb on Su-'s voice which was pushed up during the recording. Standard engineering stuff.

Yep, Moa has her voice doubled and one channel has some filter and an octave harmony added while the other is clean.

There was no hiatus - they were just not playing live shows for fairly obvious reasons. There's potentially some big news at the start of April and their latest album, THE OTHER ONE, dropped this week. BABYMETAL is SU-METAL and MOAMETAL. OTFGK if that will change.

With the recent news of Momoko becoming the official third member, I take the shot of the 3 robed figures as foreshadowing. Maybe it wasn't but that's my canon.

BABYMETAL have distribution in Japan via Sony Music Entertainment. I believe all of the artists featured on THE FIRST TAKE have a Sony connection. I doubt there are any "shenanigans", but you can believe what you want.

First time hearing them didn't sound very metal sounds more like my son's anime theme

That's because The First Take performances are mostly acoustic sets. The Piano makes it even more a ballad. The OG version has Guitars, Bass and Drums, but this is a lighter song overall.
