RANGED ONLY CHALLENGE IS BROKEN - Age Of Empires 4 Is A PERFECTLY BALANCED GAME With No Exploits

Ойындар

Welcome to Age Of Empires 4 the brand newly released RTS game to follow up from the success of AOE2 and age of empires 2 definitive edition! Age Of Empires 3 was a bit of an odd strategy game with fun new features and broken stuff like unlimited cavalry and instant troop training! Whilst Age Of Empires 4 tries to be as PERFECTLY balanced as age of empires 2 by not having any exploits, bugs, glitches or overpowered features! Its just such a shame that it turns out they accidentally left in an overpowered Mongol instant win strategy and a brand new infinite gold infinite wood, infinite stone and just infinite resources exploit that the Russians could use and now a brand new exploit that allows you you to research technologies as much you as like allowing for immortal camel archers with 1000 Armor and spearmen who have enough range to hit across the map! The results are that you can turn spearmen into long range tactical nukes allowing you to truly break a ranged or archer only challenge in aoe 4 / age of empires iv!
Enter The Giveaway Here: thespiffingbrit.youtooz.com/
Grab my youtooz early with an exploit here: youtooz.com/products/the-spif...
What you have seen here today is part of a fantastic perfectly balanced series on youtube where I go from game to game and break them with wacky exploits to gain things like unlimited gold. If you enjoyed this then be sure to check out more. The style is similar to RT game and callmekevin in parts. A large influence on this series has come from Valefisk and The Killian Experience.
So sit back relax and enjoy this funny montage of AOE4 gameplay! How on earth can one english bugger beat the game at its own tricks using the range only challenge!!! Classically we beat AOE2 with an archer only challenge so lets do it again but this time with more exploits!

    With a range of 256 tiles, each one can hit over 200k tiles so probably once you upgrade them you have 100 units checking 200k tiles every game tick. I can see why it's running a little slow

  • @pistaaa_

    @pistaaa_

    It feels more like integer overflow. It seems strange to have range attribute, where you have decimal point, stored in TINY INT data type, but it makes total sense why the value never overcomes number 256. I dont know, it's strange and I am confused.

  • @MrXBT2000

    @MrXBT2000

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@pistaaa_ I guess it is stored as a form of fixed point decimal using an unsigned integer type, with 8 bit before the decimal point. For instance the length unit for calculations might be 1/256 tile (like when we metric folks measure in centimeters). Using a 16-bit unsigned int then results in 256 tiles (~255+255/256) as the maximum. Clearly there is some form of overflow handling in there, as the number is capped rather than starting over from 0 like an odometer. 16-bit might seem like a small datatype, but it would more than suffice for any reasonable unit range.

  • @ksevio

    @ksevio

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@pistaaa_ It's certainly limited to 8bits since it maxes out at 256, but I think the problems come from all the extra processing, not the overflow as seen by how slow the game got with lower values

    @@wigbertparada9758 think of an odometer in a car, the device that keep track of and displays how many km/miles the car has driven. It has a fixed number of digits it can display. Now imagine one with four digits that measure in centimeters instead, for instance 1234 cm. If you want to change the value to meters you just put a decimal point in the middle and get 12.34 m. That would correspond to what is referred to as a fixed point data type in computers. It is basically a whole number where we just say that we put the decimal point in front of the two rightmost digits. Since we only have four digits available, the largest number we can store is 99.99 m rounded to 100 m. Internally the computer use the binary number system to represent numbers where bits act as digits. With 8 bits the computer can represent all numbers from 0 to 255. Add 8 more bits to the right of the decimal point and it can represent numbers from 0 to 255+255/256. Rounding that highest number for displaying as decimal we get 256.

    Little theory : if when you broke the game the range was 256, that is exactly 2 to the power of 8 , so probably an overflow problem. With 7 you were at 37.7, so 8 would be 65.4 and 9 would be 130.8. 10 would pass the 256 limit. Soooo probably 9 is the max.

  • @FromMyXP

    @FromMyXP

    That seems plausible. An other idea I just had is that since a spearman can now basically hit anything on the map, it take a non negligible time to check among all possible targets which one to choose, and then repeat about a hundred time. Although I'm not sure why it would "freeze" game time but not the software itself.

What you are saying is a lot more true for GB, even so the English chose to ignore those tensions, which will, sooner or later, cost them their precious kingdom. I'm not French btw., but I went through their school system for a few years.

    Apparently the 256x tech mod was so popular in AOE2 that Relic decided to add it by default into AOE4. In all seriousness that fact that you can only pull this exploit off once for each tech adds an interesting possible dynamic for PVP. The more research buildings you can build the stronger a tech will be once you do research it, thus games would become about stalling getting each tech for as long a possible; but if you wait too long you risk being overwhelmed by an opponent researching their techs earlier.
