Icenflamesrush -- I'd say 1) it's one of the earliest unusual things in the video and b) it's the most unusual thing in a live mvsik show. We've all seen fire, sparks, lights, lightning (not so much). But I'd never seen a treadmill till I saw my first live Rammstein vid. But: even though fire, etc, are not new, Rammstein take them to a new level of quality and quantity. So they are eventually commented on.

Yes the keyboardist is on a threadmill. He has once mentioned that he feels his job is too easy and he needs to do something to spice it up a little 😮. The lightning isn’t fake. It is produced by electrical current, supposedly because his treadmill is basically a big VanderGraaf generator. The pyro’s are awesome. I saw this show twice and I can assure you They are mindblowing. Rammstein are known for their pyrotechnics. The singer is a certified pyrotechnician himself. The effect when he shoots the arrow is simply amazing. The words “Du Hasst” have a double meaning. It means ‘you have’ but it can also mean ‘you hate’. So when he sings ‘Du hasst mich’ he says ‘ you have me’, but you can also hear ‘you hate me’. Finally the sentence evolves to ‘you have asked me and I said NO!!!’ The basic meaning is him denying the question for marriage. ‘Will you love me till death due us part?... NO!!!’. That’s basically the meaning.

It was added to the DVD to create "shock value"; no pun intended. And the word "Hast" as in "Du Hast" means "You Have". If the word is spelt "hasst", that means "to hate". Read the original text in the Sehnsucht album please lol. So many fans get this shit wrong and have gotten it wrong for 22 years but you can't teach anyone shit when they never listen. Flake has stated that he feels his job on the keyboards is too easy and he wants to do something extra to earn his money. About the grammar, yeah sure. Point is, you can’t hear the difference between one and two ss-es when Til sings it. The pronounciation is exactly the same. That’s the whole idea, to give the lyrics a double meaning. You have me vs. you hate me. Oh, and I’m sure there would have been a more friendly way to say you disagree with me.

Really? You were in Paris on March 6, 2012? 🤨 Must've seen it at the cinema when it was released in 2016, because I went to see them on this tour in 2012 and there definitely was no lightning. If you check out videos on KZread of this song you will see there is no lightning effect. Post-production, sorry. (Footage from the same show. @CoDGplays The lightning is not real though. In this Video you can see that the ligthning comes from above from pretty far away. So this Generator would need to be above him, yet above his head you do not see anything what would be able to emit that ligthning. Also the distance of the lightning is so far how would only his fingers trigger those ligthning sparks and only precisely those who just press a key down, but not any other part of his body ... Atleast his Head which is very open or his other hand could interfere with it and make the sparks go everywhere. There is actually live recorded material of this exact concert from the audience and you won't see any lightning there, so you seem to lie right out of your mouth just to get some attention.

Thats wrong he is Allways on a treadmill since the band hit international fame. He uses as an element of an workout since a keyboarder do not have much to do on stage. So it was his decision to place a treadmill on stage to seperate him from other keyboarders

quick note: "du hast" =you have BUT in german the pronounciation is the same to: "du hasst" = you hate... so they are also playing with the language. Ps. and of course: a french crowd singing in german. Pps. Till Lindemann is a licensed pyrotechnician so thats why there is always that much fire involved.

The lightning is not done in post. It is actually a fairly old live lighting technique. It was used all the time LIVE in the WWF for example during Undertaker segments. It is a projection.

I consider it a privilege that I was able to see Rammstein in 1995 when they were just opening for Clawfinger and no one knew them back then. Their pyro budget was literally just a massive propane gas tank on stage bursting out fire over the crowds and Till's famous flame suit so he could sing while actually burning. That's how they started and we were still going shit crazy about that. I still get goosebumps remembering it and I feel happy growing up with their music and their rise \m/

Just watched someone else react to Du Hast, and the whole time I was thinking, "Jeez, if you're gonna bother at least watch it live!" ;)

hehe, it's just what was recommended to me :) But live seems to bring out a bands atmosphere which is nice to see.

I just looove their live perfomances. I have been to quite a few of their concerts. Too bad that one of their best performances 'Volkerball' isn't available on KZread. For some reason any video from that live performance in France is soon struck down. But if you manage to find any from that, check it out. It is the only live music concert I have ever purchased on DVD.

The lightning is real the keyboard player ( Christian "Flake" Lorenz ) wears a special glove. Rammstein has the best pyro show ever.

No it's not..This is the live documentary "Rammstein Paris" by Director Jonas Åkerlund..The whole film has some special effects,like Flake's lightning,or Till's face morphing, faces of angels in the background and more..Watch the whole docu on Prime & you'll see!

All contemporary recordings this gig show no lightning. The vast majority of this is post-production apart from the flames and fireworks.

"how do the audience not just burn to death?" well, the front part of the pit at a rammstein live show is called the feurzone (lit.: fire section/zone) and is the ~extra~ toasty place to be. ...although tbh on the current tour the pyro is spread throughout the whole venue, so even seated at the back we got lightly broiled :) Also, great reaction! I can already see that you've reacted to Mein Teil so I'm gonna go chuckle at that now :D

The "fireworks" for the bazooka-effect are actually on wires for safety-reasons, sometimes when they play "America" afterwards (especially open air) you can see confetti get stuck on the wires.

Hi, liked your reaction very much. This unbelieve, lol ! That all are live-effects ! They are famous for they live-pyroshows. I think the rockets are mounted to strings above the audience. One hint for you: reacting to official music videos of Rammstein is hard, most of them get blocked. Still some are online, maybe aske the authors of them what to do to not get blocked. Some of them are awsome too, but only one worth the effort is "Deutschland", thats a masterpiece. Be sure to watch it, even if you decide to not to do a reaction video. Have fun with one of my most favourite bands !

I been on their concerts 2 times. Its more than amazing!

The lightening isn't fake... There is a "Tesla Coil" placed underabove his head! Yep it's a treadmill. Flake has said it helps him keep time, also he doesn't play on all the songs so he uses it to bust dance moves when not overly involved. The lead singer is a "Certified pyro Technician" it takes 60 hours to set up there stage! Pyro is definitely part of there live shows. They even mark tickets with *Fire zone* to tell people there seats are in the area of intense heat. Also in foreign countries they have a large screen with the lyrics on them to help fans sing along... As if they need it 😃

Nice reaction. If you ever get the chance to go to a Rammstein-concert - go for it! (they are touring in 2020 through European stadiums) Even when you don't understand the german speaking - you will never get a better pyro-lightning-live-performance than theirs. regarding the production value: it's their own camera personal its basicly recorded as promotional videos. (most live recorded you find on youtube are fanmade with hidden cams (or phones nowadays) thats why the difference is so remarkable)

Keyboardist indeed is on a treadmill. He dislikes being inactive while not playing and it helps him in keeping the rhythm. Also, a man of high culture as yourself would surely enjoy the fine live version of "Buch dich". Also, you are wrong. The lightning was real. Flake, the keyboardist, is a shaman and knows how to summon the spirits of thunder to his aid.

You should watch Mein Teil next (the live at Hurricane festival version). It's pretty much a must-watch for reaction channels.

No one on planet Earth past present or future can match the production, it's value, entertainment, excitement, and just all-around Showmanship... To Rammstein. 1 - they're German, German engineering duh... 2 - they're all licensed pyrotechnicians and engineers. 3 - the fucking Music Man

The action with the fireworks didn't even take place in a stadium, but in a hall ( Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy ), which would be unthinkable in America due to their immense safety regulations. If they go on tour there, the fans there miss out on a lot.

This one is professionally shot with some after effects, but Rammstein's live shows are legendary! I had the opportunity to see them once, they were playing a show half way across the US, but it was probably as close as they were ever going to be to where I lived. I found out about it like literally a week and a half before the concert. I was 100% ready to take the unapproved time off and potentially lose my job, spend two days driving across the country and pay some scalper an insane amount of money just for shitty seats. In the end I didn't go because my friend who was supposed to go with me couldn't. I still regret not going

Yes, the keyboarder (Christopher "Flake" Lorenz) struts on a treadmill for 90% of the concert. The lightning is obviously a CGI-effect for the music video (this is NOT a straight live recording). In the beginning you see Til spit water up in the air. That adds to the sweaty look, obviously. On a side-note, his knee-banging comes from when he had an injury and had to knock his kneecap back into place on occasion. It stuck around as a trademark.

Flake would be a great spokesman for treadmills!!!

I`m Dutch, I understand most of it, have to read the lyrics also but man, they`re a solid band...... I saw a cover band of them last year, even their show was awsome. I think this is one of Germany`s best bands they ever had. (Scorpions come second)
