The experience is astonishing. There are two selves... a phantom and pure awareness. When perception drops below the phantom and into only awareness, truth becomes so clear. Because you're not experiencing truth, you are truth. But when you perceive yourself from the perspective of the phantom apparently you have to work at it. You don't actually have to work at it because nothing actually needs to happen but the belief system is strong. Diligent effort done properly will dissolve the belief system which is perceived as the phantom. The point from which perception is experienced will then drop into pure awareness which is what you are. From this true perspective there is no sudden awakening or "aha moment". Those things are only temporarily perceived by a phantom temporarily perceiving pure awareness. From that perspective of pure awareness I always was and always will be that. And being enlightened is nothing more than being what you are.

I've gone through many variations of process over these last two years. I have now come to recognize mind as really nothing more than a "device". This device is a rather "simplistic in operation" parasite that lacks being. It's sole function is to produce the illusion of my SELF being pushed into the background, behind the false self projected by the device. This device works through a process of compulsive narration of "my life" pushing "me" into the role of the character in its narrative. This is why catching it as often as possible is important. Catching this device every time it attempts to narrate "me" into the "story of me" is a very powerful way of standing in the foreground and recognizing this device for what it is... Just a device. In recognizing that I am automatically catapulted out from behind it, which in fact I never was. It is all an illusion produced by this very loud, very insistent, compulsively active narrator. But the more I recognize it the less ability this device has to maintain its position in the foreground, where it must be in order to function. But as I said it never actually was in the foreground. None the less the more I recognize it the more it loses its ability to project the illusion of being in the foreground where it has to be in order to push me into the background. As it was never actually in the foreground I was never in the background. If you persist in this process it becomes obvious that what I am does not have a location and has no form so it can't be pushed anywhere. What I am is sort of nowhere and everywhere at the same time. And nothing and everything at the same time. I have found that the device stands in the way of this awareness of SELF. That device needs to be chiselled away bit by bit by bit by bit. It takes intense effort and intense focus in order for that process to become continual. In other words meditation or self inquiry becomes your constant state. In truth self inquiry always was my constant state. In the beginning, as a character in a story practicing self inquiry is very difficult. But it isn't really. It's only the device that makes it seem so because that is the story it tells. As the device deteriorates and dissolves away to nothing the never ending state of self inquiry is revealed. But at that point there really is no self inquiry. Inquiry is the effort to push through the illusion to the self. Once you push through it and arrive at the other side, which is where you always were, you are in a permanent state of self inquiry, but without the inquiry. And so all there is is SELF. I am still absolutely on the path but I know my self now by being my self. It is unstable and fleeting but less unstable and fleeting than it was a month ago. The further along you travel on the path the more obvious progress becomes. As it becomes more obvious it becomes easier. In the end it becomes so easy that nothing is left but ease itself, which is what I am.

I love it, this version is beautefully. Annamalai Swami
