Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the rundown apartment block has been considered untouchable. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, they find themselves stranded on the 6th floor with no way out. The unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission.

I always love when armor and equipment factors into a fight. In a run of the mill action movie, Rama in body armor vs guys in hoodies would make no difference. But here, any fight this stacked means you’re going to take a hit or two, and armor helps add tension while making the scene more realistic.

I like that before this fight starts, the main character doesn't feel badass or confident. You can see it in his eyes, the fear at what he's up against. He's got some ideas on how he can survive (love that move where he kicks the first guy's machete away after the disarm!) but there's a point in the fight where it becomes clear he's run out of ideas and now he's just trying to stay alive for the next half-second. I also liked that he did end up taking a hit or two, and even one from the machete that would have ended him if he wasn't wearing a stab vest. You really get the feeling that he barely survived this fight.
This scene shows just how much light body armor and tactical clothing made a difference. Several goons hit Body shots on Rama and one was able to slash him In the back. If not for that armor, Rama wouldn’t be alive right now. Plus he is wearing knee pads and steel toe tactical boots, which probably saves his knees and feet with all that rolling around he is doing on that hard surface.

Yeah, that's what I loved about it, it was straight forward and quick
This is gotta be one of the best modern action films right ? Like when i saw this when it came out i thought "this is better than 99% of any western action movie for a fraction of the budget"
I love that he progressively gets more violent and aggressive towards the end of the fight. From seemingly not wanting to kill to having no choice. At least that’s from the eyes of someone who hasn’t seen this movie.
4:15 the best finisher ive ever seen
I love how he runs towards the guys to give himself distance to retreat if needed.
One of the greatest fight scenes ever put on film.
Another scene in the movie which shows just how much of a formidable fighter Rama is. The Machete gang was brutal but Rama also kept a cool head as a tough opponent and nailed them all in the end.🔥
One of the greatest fight scenes in movie history. This is truly a masterpiece.
2:44 damn! That's brutal

Raid 1&2 is a masterpiece, the martial arts and action in these 2 movies is beyond anything I watched.
I watched some of the behind the scenes, making of.... It was a scene of two guys "fighting" and one of the guys actually got hurt. They immediately stopped fighting and dude was bleeding. The other guy was very worried about him, wanting him to get help, which he did. It just shows how difficult it must have been for these actors to film these scenes.
What a hidden gem Raid 1 was. Its not only about action and choreography, the camera movement and shots were also superb

Love how main character’s first instinct is to get the hell out of there. He is an action hero but that little details makes it feel more realistic which makes the scene more relatable and therefore interesting to the viewer

Rama was like "im not trapped in this corridor with you, you're trapped in here with me!"
3:02 this guy undoubtly stepped up on his friend's dead body 😅
I must say this is the realest scene I've ever seen. When you meet someone with machete, the first thing you need to do is run
Look, the choreography here is great, but I absolutely love the dialogue. The way each actor delivers the “Aaaaaaaaa” is beyond amazing.

That 4 piece combo on the last guy is absolutely vicious.
Beside the coregraphy is perfect, those villains are REALLY scary.
After he killed the boy in orange he had pushed past his threshold in terms of humanizing the situation and just decided it was him or them, he was still passive and just defending himself before all that
Most people would hate to admit it, especially if you want to insert yourself as the main character but his choice of running away at the start is the right choice for anyone.
Was lucky enough to catch this in the theater. One of the best action flicks of all time!
I love how the last dude is literally screaming whether he's been hit or not.
One of the best movies with the best fight choreography I've ever seen. Absolute masterpiece
The gruesome scenes in the raid are so insane it makes me praise the production crew for how realistic and crazy thw stunts are
1:28 Surprised noone is commenting on the close up shot of the bloody machete. That machete is the one which cut Rama's cheek--it's his blood on that blade. A grim reminder to our main character of what might happen to him should he lose.
This movie is underrated. This is the best martial arts fight movie ever. I remember the day my friend told me to watch.
Those wild swings are what made this film so much more better than most films.
