Deep in the heart of Jakarta's slums lies an impenetrable safe house for the world's most dangerous killers and gangsters. Until now, the rundown apartment block has been considered untouchable. Cloaked under the cover of pre-dawn darkness and silence, an elite swat team is tasked with raiding the safe house in order to take down the notorious drug lord that runs it. But when a chance encounter with a spotter blows their cover and news of their assault reaches the drug lord, they find themselves stranded on the 6th floor with no way out. The unit must fight their way through the city's worst to survive their mission.

for those wondering, the reason someone would grab someone who's been knocked down & drag them back to their feet is bc they don't know / aren't good at ground fighting. it's a separate skill & if you're outclassed you shouldn't do it bc you can get reversed, pinned bc you don't know how to reverse or escape it & then get your shit fucked up it also negates any advantage you might have from being taller; it's harder to reverse or attack someone when you're on top of someone who's shorter bc their center of gravity is lower if you wanna see an example of this, they do get him down and then both try to grapple him at the same time at 2:13 & he defeats them both at the same time -- because he knows how to reverse his way out of it & they aren't good enough at ground grappling to understand the reversals he uses to see them coming & defend against them (there are a limited number of them & all of them are counterable -- the same as attacking someone you've got pinned actually) & a limited number of counters to the reversals unlike standing combat it's a lot more determined how many moves & countermoves you know, and how much more punishment you can take than your opponent before you run out of the ability to actually perform or defend against the reversals; standing you have to exert the effort to move your hand to punch, on the ground you have to physically move your opponents entire body while you resist it, and unlike standing throws you can't use momentum or trip your opponent to get above them

Scott Adkins said himself he ripped off the kicking scene in Undisputed 3 (2010) from Merantau, which was out in 2009. Undisputed 2 has different cinematography compared to Undisputed 3 (2010) and Undisputed 4 (2016). If you look at it, Undisputed 2 (2006) has more cut between fight scenes compared to Undisputed 3 and 4. It is because Undisputed 2 DID NOT get influenced by Gareth Evans's directing style, at least not yet. It was Isaac Florentine's original directing style. Undisputed 3 and 4 however, has fight scenes that HIGHLY influenced by Gareth Evans's directing style. Longer takes between fight scenes that showcase the fluidity of the actor's movements.

One thing I really enjoy about the fight scenes from these actors is that, though not perfect or present all the time, the power punches and kicks that they do really look like power punches and kicks. The way their hips snap and the movement of the leg pushing off before doing the strike. All the fight scenes had people that really knew how to fight and control their bodies to not actually hurt one another. Really amazing stuff.

Camera work is so good during the whole scene. No useless cuts like in so many Hollywood movies where the director has not idea how to film a fight scene. Even some recent Chinese "martial arts" films are now plagued with those cuts that only serve to hide the director's incompetence and the poor physical shape of actors. This scene is a clinic. A masterpiece. One of the best examples on how to make an intense fight scene with powerful and charismatic characters.

It's testament to the incredible skill of the performers that the camera backs off and lets you see the action, rather than try to trick you with a ton of rapid cuts.

I love how here they reversed the values and it worked perfectly. We are usually used to seeing protagonists facing huge, muscular and very strong guys. Here you can see a short guy giving trouble to two strong fighters much bigger than he

The way there's no music, to little music, to you suddenly realize there IS music is right up there with that track "Bishop's Countdown" from Aliens. Whole movie of just atmospheric and tense discordance, and suddenly, bang, your hip deep in a heroic swell.
