I thought about that with my build but not comfortable with kids or anyone facing that direction in an accident. I have them forward facing on thick steel framework.

Thank you for sharing. Our kids sit sideways in their grandparent’s RV chairs so I’m comfortable with it.
I like it, but I'm not so sure its a good idea.Sitting sideways like that is more dangerous in a crash. They should also be bolted through the van floor with reinforcement plates underneath.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. Safety is a big consideration. Every RV, mass transit bus and subway train has seats that sit sideways so I would be interested to read the safety report you are referring to. I also recommended reinforcement plates underneath at 14:10 in the video.
