RAM Power Wagon Gets a Suspension Upgrade

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's time to take my 2020 RAM Power Wagon to the next left and install a lift kit! I've got some big plans for making this truck the ultimate expedition vehicle and upgrading the suspension is a key component to taking the next steps. In this video we head over to CJC Off-road and install a Carli lift kit. #rampowerwagon #fullsizetruck #expeditionvehicle

This suspension specs:
Carli's 2014-20 Ram 2500 Pintop 2.5 suspension systems
This system boasts Carli specific, blueprinted, King 2.5” shocks on all four corners. In an effort to provide customers with the best product, we designed a custom piston to determine proper base flow rates to ensure the shock works well in the heavy duty truck platform; we then tuned the shocks around the custom pistons based on the only thing that matters to us, seat-of-the-pants feel. We round off ALL our King shocks with shafts machined and polished from a solid piece of 17-4 Stainless. Unlike King’s standard shafts, there is no coating to wear off, weather is far less likely to hurt them and if there is a small chip, you can round the edges with emery cloth to ensure the seal housing isn’t damaged as they’re not brittle like the stock, hardened shafts. The shocks are finished with King oil good to -55° F. Note that all King shocks are built with a plated steel body. If subjected to inclement weather for extended periods, we recommend wrapping your shocks in 3M to provide a moisture barrier that’s replaceable.
Your truck will sit 2” higher in the front (cab configuration dependent) with a touch more suspension travel than the factory platform thanks to the taller, lighter rate coil springs. The rear Carli Coil Springs will lift 1” to level the truck while upping the rear suspension capacity to a respectable 2,000lbs.
The Factory Sway Bar Disconnect with which the Power Wagons are equipped works great for those wanting the two ends of the spectrum, rigid or flexy. For those wanting to land in the middle of the spectrum between these two end points, Carli’s optional Torsion sway bar removes the entire factory sway bar assembly replacing it with a torsion bar supported by fabricated drop brackets and delrin bushings. Fabricated sway bar arms and dual 5/8” FK heim end links round off the package. This is the single best bang for the buck, ride-quality upgrade offered by Carli Suspension when compared to the locked, factory sway bar. The Carli Sway Bar allows nearly bind-free articulation in low-speed applications; when things heat up, it allows the Carli Shocks and springs to breath while engaging progressively to provide control in high-speed cornering situations.
The additional front lift and off-road oriented application call for a better track bar to handle the new-found increased off-road abilities. This system includes an Adjustable Track Bar to recenter the axle and provide a stronger link with less deflection for the lifted application. Also included are Carli’s Radius Arm Drop Brackets to drop the pivot point of the dual pivot Power Wagon arms, alleviate diagonal spring pressures (ensure no bow in the coil springs) and allow full adjustment of the factory caster bolt.
Everything is included to support flawless operation of all components. Extended rear Sway Bar End Links, Front and Rear Bump stop drops to ensure the shocks are cycling in their designed travel range as well as a rear track bar drop bracket minimizing the rear end “wag” associated with opposing track bar suspension designs are all included to round off this suspension system.

So it's come up a couple times in the comments and I think it's worth a little clarity. I did not want to max out the stock springs with a full payload because it will drive horribly on and offroad. The Carli springs can handle a higher weight capacity, but the trucks GVWR does not change. The truck will handle much, much better with these new higher capacity springs since I will pretty much be maxing out the trucks official payload.

I'm so glad to see this upgrade. You really have me considering the RAM Power Wagon, Brad, and after seeing these guys do this upgrade on the suspension for you, you have me wanting to drive to California for this upgrade when I finally do go and get the Power Wagon. I love the fact that it comes with so much like the winch and the lockers stock, not to mention the power under the hood. I actually saw the 4x4 camper you put on this; it pretty nice that it collapses and pops up when you get ready to use it to camp. I'm not sure I want the camper, but I know that was a big move for the sake of your wife, which I think is awesome of you! Thank you so much for sharing this upgrade with us all. This guy is super smart and still tried to break it down in to simpler terms for us all. Great Video!

I would hate it if you filmed me whilst working. 13:20, good to hear that a brand new spec'd out RAM still rattles over bumps too.

Brad, I just had some suspension upgrades done on my Colorado ZR2 and I think we used the same "test" trail near my home in Ramona ; ) Excited to see how the additions to this truck work out!

The guys at CJC are great and the new shop is much larger. I like working on my truck also but ball joints are a pain so I let CJC install them for me. Too bad the Carli shocks likely wouldn't work that well on my truck.

Hi I have a question, my son and I just put the same wheels and tires on are power wagon. Did you have to reset your tire pressure sensor from 60 to 45? And if you did how did you do it? And what psi do you run your tires at ? Thank you very much for your time.

@@TrailRecon Just a thought. That front intercooler guard will get hung up depending on where you take your PW. I know on mine it would have by now. Either way your truck is coming along nicely. I run 37s on mine too and store my spare on my Front Runner bed rack.

I've been thinking about getting a Power Wagon for myself. I've looked into putting 37-inch tires on it with this exact lift kit from Carli (without the different springs though). I'm curious if you changed the gear ratio and what ratio did you choose and why? Also, would you have to trim with the 37-inch tires and the Carli suspension on it? I don't really want to have to trim to fit 37's on my Power Wagon when I get it.
