    Don't know bro, with my Cummings (2500 Limited) from Wilmington to Goldsboro (hwy miles) I'm getting 19-21 miles doing 5 miles over speed limit. Though opinions have been made regarding the cost of diesel and maintenance.Thanks

    One thing I will give diesel is the efficiency of the fuel actually in the tank is better than the fuel actually in a gas truck's tank. Cost of diesel and maintenance are a factor but I think it's fair the 19-21 mpg should be acknowledged. I appreciate you adding value bro!

    I enjoy your videos. I am thinking about upgrading my Ram1500 to a 2500. I pull a 28.5 total length GD Imagine XLS. I want to do some long distance travel which will bring me up and down a lot of hills. My question is how well does your truck handle going down steep hills? Is the tow/haul 0:50 function help with downshifting? I don’t want to burn up my Rv brakes. I don’t want to spend the extra 9k for a diesel just so I have a engine exhaust brake. 9k plus the extra $1+ a gallon for diesel and DEF is not cost effective.

    Totally get it. For your size trailer a 2500 gas will be just fine. I have taken my 32ft trailer across the country and it was just fine. Diesel would definitely perform better but for my use I don't see the justification in getting a diesel.

    Tow/haul will help. Works great for slowing down on flat ground using engine braking and holds gears longer for acceleration. For steep downhills, you would need to have cruise control set for it to downshift itself to hold you back so it would maintain your selected speed. Or else it would just use that momentum to pick up speed. OR (and I think this is a better way) you can use the gear select buttons to start engine braking before it starts to run away on you. Lower the gear manually before it picks up any speed on the decline. I think that way gives you the most control!

    Would like to see an update on your Ram2500. I watched all your videos and learned a lot. I was told that if you have the Hemi, you must use premium gas. Is that what you use.

    I use mid grade gas since that's what my manual says but I've heard where some people have manuals that say regular gas. I have a 30k mile update coming soon. I just crossed the 30k mile mark yesterday

    I have a 2021 6.4 hemi 2500 with 3.73 gears. I always use regular unleaded 87 octane. The other day I tried 89 octane which is 40 cents per gallon more. Same driving conditions and my mileage was only about a half mile per gallon better. To me not worth the extra 40 cents. I did not notice any difference in the way the truck ran.

    @@liveyourfree Aren't we all, once I put these on my Tacoma I got 24-26 mpg!! S&B intake, throttle body spacer, intake manifold spacer, high performamce coil packs, headers, exhaust, engine tune and have them tune it for 92 octane fuel, trans tune, 5:13 gears so it will actually use all 8 gears. These might help you bro!!

    @@liveyourfree I looked into ordering a ford before I traded in my limited Cummins a month ago. You could not order a Lariat with the black appearance package. In fact they were closing 2023 ordering that week multiple dealers told me. The black appearance package may be available to order late 2023 but for sure 2024. Also told about a 10-12 month wait.

    @MN WX Guy sheesh. Crazy times for inventory I guess. Thankfully I have about 70k more miles to put on the truck before I look to trade it. You bring up a good point that makes me think the move is to order a truck well before I need it so by the time it arrives I am ready to trade out

    Man that mileage seems like shit for that truck. 3.73 gears and the 8 speed and you only got 14mpgs wow. My 16 with 4.10's at 70-75 gets that if not better! Towing around 10-12 mpgs!

  • @liveyourfree

    @liveyourfree

    Жыл бұрын

    Yea it's not great but going 75mph and up to 80 on a 26°-27° day will have an impact on the gas mileage for sure. Gotta take that into account as well. Not saying it's great but I get it. I doubt the 4.10s would get better on those conditions just because of the nature of how the gearing works. I would get 10-13 mpgs when towing hotshot loads. My travel trailer towing gets at best 9mpg which I'm not mad at for a 37.5ft trailer with a gvwr of 11,295lbs.
