Rainy Suburb Stealth Camping
Just a little rainy camping trip in the woods of a new neighborhood under construction. I used the hammock again on this trip because it was the best shelter for the situation. Sloping ground, lots of good trees, and lots of rain. Camping in hammocks is always my choice when there will be lots of rain.

That was a whitetail deer making that sneezing sound. It busted you, it smelled you down wind and that sound was the deer forcing air out of its nose as a warning to other deer that " I smell something bad, don't come over here" they also stomp one hoof when they do that. It's a warning to other deer. It can sound so strange if you've never heard it before. Awesome video Steve

Years ago my Scoutmaster was deer hunting and had a doe make that noise right behind him. He was lying prone above a small ravine with a game trail along the bottom of it. When the doe made that noise it startled him and he knocked his shotgun down into the ravine. He rolled over and was face to face with the doe for a few seconds, then it turned and ran off.
The completely unnecessary stealth cracks of the can is comedic genius. He talks louder than the crack before and after the crack for extended periods of time. But we GOT to master the stealth crack! I love Steve.

I can't tell you how much I've thought about the passing of a woman I never even laid eyes on over the last couple of days. I could see the emotion and getting choked up at the end of this video which said to me that things at that time were not looking good, and it sounded like you didn't want to go on the road, but I can almost bet money your beautiful wife was telling you to go ahead and go. Your genuineness as a human being has always shined through on the screen and in your interactions with your subscribers online. I don't think think I've ever watched anyone on KZread whose emotions just came through the screen to me when you had to make a video you hoped you'd never have to make.

The sound you were hearing around 12:15 seems like it was most likely a deer "blowing" at you. They forcefully exhale to make that noise. They generally do that when they are unsure of what they are sensing. Deer do that in hopes that you will move around so that they can get a better idea of what you are. Does tend to do it more than bucks. They tend to continue blowing as they prance away from you. You were in no danger. The noise can certainly be a bit startling whenever it's completely quiet and suddenly there's a loud noise.

I'm catching up on a few videos that I missed and can't help but think how devastated Steve will be not long after making this video. In hindsight, it does seem he has some type of looming anxiety in his voice. I guess as someone who suffers with anxiety, I always have a sense of looming disaster in my mind even if there really isn't any! Anyway, I hope he continues on healing, and no doubt there will be days with ups and downs for a long, long time. My thoughts are with you and your family, and everyone else that knew your beautiful wife 😢🥲
I’m going to relate something I don’t often talk about, but since watching your videos, I find myself thinking about often. In younger days I had a desire to go on, what Paul Hogan in Crocodile Dundee called a “Walk-about”. Much to my regret and for various reasons I did not. Now that I’ve gotten old and have multiple health issues, my “Walk-about” days are over. But that doesn’t stop me from traveling down the road and assessing little snippets of cover for their camping potential. Since I’ve been binge watching your videos, my desire to do a bit of stealth camping has increased. I am vicariously living this life through you. I enjoy your adventures, along with “Crazy Neighbor” who is a hoot. Even though we never see Beautiful Wife, the few trips she has made with you, I can hear her in the background.

This video reminded me of a family camping trip as a kid. My parents and siblings were sleeping in the camper I liked to sleep outside so I was in a hammock it was a nylon net hammock. There was a threat of rain so I had clear plastic as a rain fly. A massive thunderstorm rolled thru in the middle of the night. Not much rain or wind but I awoke to heart stopping booms and an impressive light show dancing across the sky. It lasted a couple of hours. As it was dying off the realization that I was tied to 2 100ft ponderosa pine trees sent a chill down my spine. That was one of the best storms I camped in. Some of my favorite camping trips have been in a hammock.

Watching this whilst wild camping in my van outside a multi million housing estate! Cheers Steve!
I have watched your videos for so long that you feel like family. You are so genuine. I continue to pray for you.
I have no idea why I watch these, but here I am at work filling a void. Thank you sir!
Being a hunter, that was a doe blowing at you. Great content
This guy is just such good vibes. One of these days... I'm gonna just drop what I'm doing. Go out into the woods with a beer and a hammock/tent... and just not think of all the crazy stuff going on.

U will never do this
Three things I like about Canada......no snakes, Michael J. Fox, and delivery drivers who have no problem showing up to construction sites after dark. Unbelievable!
My man Steve is creeping up on 1 million subs! Never doubt anything you do, we love it all! I follow a ton of people on youtube, but theres something about a thursday with Steve...It's just great!
Steve, I’ve been watching your videos since late 2019. I was laid off in 2020 due to Covid and your videos were one of the few things I had to look forward to each week while trying to get things back together. I’ve gone out camping a bunch of times being inspired by you. Thanks so much for your time and effort in each one of your videos. I’ve enjoyed every single one!
That sounds is a dear snort, warning others in the herd that there is "danger nearby" . I love that sound.....
I'm glad you got your anniversary trip in with the wife. Rip Jess.
Even from my hospital bed here in the ICU I was able to watch this week and as always within minutes the nice calm voice and chill nature of yours had transported me out into the woodlands of old with you. Thanks for putting me and my heart at ease for a bit my friend!

Mike, praying for you to get well soon. I have been there and I am currently fighting many major ailments that come with old age including panic attacks and heart disease. Steve is a blessing, his calmness and humor really brighten up my day. Take care🙏🏽❣️
I'm a simple person. I see Camping with Steve, and I watch Camping with Steve
lovely sound of that rain on the tarp
When i haven't watched you for a day or so, i miss you! I enjoy this kind of thing so much!
Not sure what it is. But I feel it, too. Feels like hurt. Sadness. Confusion. And a variety of “Other”. Overwhelming at times; frustrating at others. You’re not alone, Steve. You’re human, like me, like us. Everywhere is wilderness, literally the-will-of-the-place. I don’t know you because we’ve never met, but I do know you in a sense because we’re similar: just trying to figure out our own place in the wilderness. Much love.

hey thanks for following along on my adventures
Steve your videos are one of the few things I look forward to every week. Thank you! Happy Anniversary!
Steve, I came across your videos months ago through the most random click in the dark on KZread's recommendations. I binged every video you had up until your latest at that time--since then, I've been keeping up with every upload. What I appreciate the most about you and your channel, or at least what I've gathered from it, is to just be you (myself), and be kind (to the self, to others, to nature). I'm working on the latter ideals, but absorbing much of it in a positive, supplemental way through these Thursday uploads. Love your step two ritual, and love your basic, but damned good looking down to earth cooking ventures. Cheers.
Hey Steve, Dutch guy here who is currently visiting Canada. I picked up a Thermacell because I so often saw you use one and just used it in an Ontario skeeter infested field, worked like a charm! Happy anniversary!

@@Hairlessmonkey7612 The only thing is that it is not instant, you need to let it warm up and let it establish the ‘poison cloud’, once you have that going the skeeters will stay away!

Australian here, I purchased one yesterday, and so far it seems to work well
Now that you're Doc famous, it'll be harder to be stealthy, but if you can pull off a 4 man outing without getting pinched, you know you're a pro! Keep on stealthin'!

I have always thought about that while watching Steve's channel, all the hours of loneliness he experiences. That's the reason why I avoid camping by myself.
Over the past 40 years I have primitive camped all over California and parts of Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. At this point I am 67, retired and have got bad knees to the point of needing a walker to walk up and down the hall in my house, so camping is out for now. My wife’s knees are worse than mine. It will be a year before we both get knee replacements and get mobile again. For now, your video gives me a 20+ minute escape from my house arrest sentence each week. Both your peaceful and exciting videos are needed more than you know, so keep them coming dude!!!
Just so you know, Steve, your videos are entertaining enough for my 3.5 year old to watch all the way through.
Your videos always put a smile on my face, you are so wholesome! We love you Steve!!
Laying here with Covid catching up on camping with Steve. Thanks for your content my friend!
Great vid. Don't ever think it's "boring". We knew what to expect you're stealth camping not fire juggling on a unicycle while singing the national anthem.
"Working on some beer in the woods!" Never change Steve.
You are OUR battery Steve! We're all feeling recharged after this video. Green jacket = stealth. Cheers, and best wishes for your anniversary trip!
We may only be screen fans, but people like you are sometimes all we have. You are never alone, just camping solo! I’m glad I could make it to your virtual side in this time. (Written in light of beautiful wife’s passing)
