I gotta say you do a great job of showing off tourney sets and really seem to have the major catalog. Nice stuff, editing is super smooth and I like the brush transition.

Thank you Chara! The way I got into competitive gaming was by watching video of top level play and being wowed by it, so I think it's important to show it and show where people can find more of it. It's also a great supplement to content I create, because I can't always stage the concepts I'm trying to explain; I just have to find them being exemplified in actual matches, and playlists of Splatoon majors are the easiest, highest volume sources of video for that.

Every other language has a much better name for rainmaker haha (not that rainmaker is all that bad). German has operation goldfish, French has Mission Bazookarpe (best name for rainmaker IMO), etc… In all seriousness, great video! Love the intro and outro animation! To be honest I’ve never been all that great at rainmaker, it’s always so fast paced and I feel like I can hardly keep up. This video was super helpful and informative! Keep up the great work :)

This whole rebrand already looks amazing! The new transitions, but also the vibe, feeling more like an actual school now, instead of just tutorial videos like earlier. I really hope this will work out for you, especially with Splatoon 3 right around the corner. Still sad that Bravous had to close up, but you're making the best with what you've built here, re-opening with a banger video. Good luck and stay fresh!

The Squee-G sucking up the intro ink is pretty clever. Aside from that, if this channel never existed I probably wouldn't be anywhere near where I am today in terms of Splatoon gameplay.

Another thing I would add, that I don't think was mentioned is that sprinklers can be really useful for popping the rainmaker quickly or stalling enemies from popping the bubble

They'll definitely help with the DPS you need to do to the shield, but a lethal bomb does so much to the shield so quickly that you don't tend to see sprinklers competitively.

Listening to this video made me win 3 matches in a row. Really nice guide. I would add that you can throw bombs at it for a fast explosion to splat your enemies; I have had my splashdown cancelled so many times with bombs against the rainmaker barrier lol XD (I should consider not be so trigger happy with my splashdowns lol XD). Also, the video transition and the intro animation looks so cool. Awesome video, I hope to see more guides and that your channel grows. You deserve it.

that timer until the rainmaker explodes actually ticks faster while the carrier stands in " no rainmaker zones " so keep that in mind!

@@sorryiateurcookie Pretty sure I actually recorded a section on rainmaker-free zones and just...forgot to put it in the video. The timer will also tick faster if you retreat past the furthest point your opponent has pushed to, up until the point that you move forward again.

​@@SquidSchoolIt's a good thing that the rainmaker hates cowards and campers (and punishes them by speeding up the timer). The "cowards" will try to stall at their own team lines, and the "campers" will do the same in the Rainmaker-free Zones.

I wish they brought back the og hurricane making Rainmaker. It would be more interesting and cause more people to grab it. It would also force more team oriented plays as the one hit kill that has isn’t slow. Here you can get direct hits or hit them with the explosion but the fact that it only kills with the delayed explosion means people can just run up to you and splat you. You are a total liability and if your team pushes and lets someone get behind any of them you are likely to die and start the cycle over again. With the og you’d need complete flanking or great mobility. The squid roll would be very useful as it can only paint straight lines so you’d have plenty of room to do it and mess up their shots.

He's very multi-talented; he has a Twitch stream where he runs his visuals through the Unity engine, and he can do things like add psychedelic lighting effects to things, spawn avatars for each viewer in chat that they can customize and make dance, it's really impressive one-of-a-kind stuff!

Amazing video! I'm loving the rebrand and this video helped me so much. It really is a testament to how badly the game fails at explaining these things to you that I'm in S rank and didn't know a few of these things. I'm really excited to play Splatoon keeping these tips in mind!

I'd really like some more mode overviews like this. I love the Map/Mode of the Day series, but this format is a lot more beginner-friendly and generally useful, imo. The Map/Mode series's advice is more specific which is great (I've been watching them consistently and they've really helped me), but they're only useful if that stage happens to be in rotation. I also like these more bite-sized options of general advice for every stage.

Get them to hire Fizzi of Project Slippi to make Smash netcode and stop interfering with Melee and Project M tournaments and then I'd be happy to. 'til then it's a nah from me. Appreciate you saying it though, a big part of the inspiration for this and the Clam Blitz video were the fact that the game modes are insufficiently tutorialized for people who have just unlocked Ranked.

Once I was playing Rainmaker and this absolute BOZO who had it decided to run all the way to our goal and let it explode in like 10 seconds, resulting in a wipeout. It's safe to say that I blocked them.

I made a gear set for kensa splattershot, with enough sub saver for 2 suction bombs, and object shredder. I pop the shield with 2 bombs and 1 shot

If you want to see that idea taken to its logical extreme, check out the video by Chara I quote in this video where he plays against a team running 4 weapons that all have double suction bomb. It's pretty hilarious

He's a very gifted filmmaker, was a sound guy in Hollywood, and now he's building a crazy streaming application in Unity that lets him manipulate the stream like an in-game object, create customizable avatars for every viewer, make anything into a psychedelic lightshow, it's super impressive.

I will now refer to this game mode as "Operation Goldfish".

Splat 3 added the Checkpoint to slow this down.

Thanks for the recommendation! It's always good to hear what people want to know more about. My next video is going to be about callouts, so it'll be a little bit before I can put something out on that topic, but in the meantime, flc has a video very similar to his Rainmaker fundamentals video (see description) on all of the different game modes. I highly recommend that whole series, long as it is; that's the theory that most of Western Splatoon is based on

Im still a little confused about the jumping off the map part to reset the rainmaker. Ive seen some videos where a player jumps off a map while carrying the rainmaker, but the map is surrounded by water. (For example Haglefish Market and Mahi Mahi Resort) The rainmaker reset in the last place he touched the ground instead of the middle. Does the rainmaker resetting to mid only happen if you jump off the map into a "pit".

I love Turf Wars but lose every game at Rainmaker in Splatoon 3. Would this video still apply mostly to Splatoon 3? Thank-you and great video!

I just hit S rank for the first time and it was in Rainmaker lol

1 thing to add. There's no such thing as a designated rainmaker carrier. Due to the fast paced nature of the mode, you can't afford to waste time waiting for 1 teammate to run up and grab it when you've wiped the enemy team. Also I demand royalties for 2:00
