With the exception of their ticket prices, their ticket prices were straight up elitist when they came here so I boycotted the concert I was waiting for, yeah I'm not spending 350 on a single ticket to a concert, that's the price of 3 normal floor "seats" tickets... but I get it they probably weren't making good money in the 90s like musicians do now, so they cashed in on the fame they acrued over the last 30 years... and good for them, I just could never justify spending that much even on my favorite musicians, which I only pay about 80-120 (canadian) to see.

My Oakland (ended up getting cancelled due to Zach’s injury) were just $140 (including fees and tax). They even said that they sold a limited number of their tickets at market value (which was very very high) and donated every penny of those sales to local charities of the cities where the concerts were held at. I hope they end up touring again or at least drop another album.

@anthonyvalenzuela3905 those ticket weren't at market value, this is why I boycotted the concert in my hometown... what they did was, to "prevent" people buying tickets to jack up the prices for resale they just did it themselves, then donated the money to the local charities and food bank... worse things could have been done with the money, but this ARTIFICIALLY increased the price by up to 150%, depending on the city.... and the scalpers STILL bought the tickets for up to 600 dollars each (USD) and resold them for up to 1000 dollars each (USD)... This is why a lot of rage against the machine fans accused them of selling out for that tour. This said it was to combat scalpers but in actuality they just set the price out of reach out mist of their fan, but not any of the scalpers who can afford to buy them, and sit on them until people get desperate enough to pay whatever price is being charged for them.

Conservatives cry when they finally read the lyrics after growing up bumping RATM. Can't deal with being everything RATM stands against.

Since their signing to a major label, they have been accused of being part of the machine. But their lyrics are mostly talking about government, not the major music labels. I think it has been pretty clear that they are willing to use those labels to push out their message out to as a large of an audience as possible - because they believe in their message.

The Clash back in the late 70's into the 80's were the same way. They saw the label as a necessary evil to speak against oppression around the world by corrupt governments and the intertwined system of abuses.

The thing that a lot of younger people don’t realize is back in the early 90’s you HAD to have a label to get your music out. There was no internet, social media or SoundCloud. The original lyric in Killing in the Name was , “ some of those who hold office” The record executives wouldn’t touch it. Even the might Rage had to bend a little to be heard.

It was nearly impossible for a band to be heard widely without being on a major record label pre-internet. There were a few small labels, like Discord and Epitaph, but they had a hard time competing with major labels for shelf space, so their bands mostly still got word-of-mouth exposure, and no radio airplay.

Basically, these people never understood the lyrics and are mad about it now. Rage has always been a leftist (not Democrat)band. Apparently these bozos were raging against the washing machine or something because the lyrics eluded them. RATM never changed, they just never got it to begin with.

People that complain about their message never understood their message. They haven't changed at all.

Rage Against The Machine has always been VERY political and never compromised from their values and message. To this day all of the members do on-the-ground activism for labor strikes and other protests that they care about. A lot of people cared a lot more about their sound than their message in the end, which is why some people think they're "part of the machine" now. It's a pretty dumb thing to say to anyone who knows anything about the band other than the top 5 hits.

Can't speak for everyone, but me and all of my friends grew up and learned more about society and politics. Rage might believe what they write about. If that's true, they are spreading some pretty evil stuff that would end up going against their message.

I saw Rage play back in ‘97 in the general population yard of an old penitentiary. Still one of the most badass concerts I’ve ever seen.

Rage is still Rage. Band went their separate ways to expand on styles and subject matter. Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford were all in Prophets of Rage and Audioslave over the years. Zach de la Rocha took awhile away from the band before they reunited. Don't know much about why they broke up, just glad they are working together again.

Interesting, ive listened to rage a lot back in the day, but I just realized that when they start with "I've got no patience now", its Maynard James Keenan from Tool doing the vocals there.

This is one of my favorites by them, the sound those guys produced can't be replicated. For their time to this was dope, they were actually a few years ahead of their time. People credit Korn and Limp Bizkit for the rock/rap sound of the 90s. Rage said hold my government hatred lol

I grew up on Rage. I was reading Thoreau and Emmerson (If you like Rage, check them out...old folks) in high school in the 90s and then I found Rage. They are in no small part responsible for my worldview to this day.

Everyone gives Killing in the Name and Bulls on Parade all the attention, but this song and Down Rodeo are personally my favs.

Not true, those comments are from those who don't like Rage and or are against the youth discovering this band. Tom Morello redefined what it was like to play guitar. He basically scratches on it like a DJ does on a record or soundboard. That whole "I got no patience now" section is sung by Maynard James Keenan from TOOL btw that man can hit some high notes using a record breaking sustained scream.

their message hasn't changed, but the fact that they have been successful on a major label has opened them up to criticisms of hypocrisy: you rail against big business but you signed with epic records. However, their FIRST record came out on epic, so I don't see why they should be accused of having "changed over the years". And if you want to get a message out, what's the point of putting out a record that no one will hear. It's like a tree falling in the forest. Another thing to keep in mind was that in 1992, you didn't have the internet or social media to get your message out, you needed a record label!

Tool's guitarist Adam Jones grew up together with Tom Morello - and Tom's Mum was one of his teachers! So that's how they met Maynard. However it was Perry Farrell (Jane's Addiction) who was supposed to sing on this, but on the day of recording they couldn't find him, so asked Maynard to do it instead. And the rest, as they say, is history!

I consider Rage one of the greatest bands of all time of any genre. Massive fan for over 30 years, but when they went on tour and I had to spend $600 for nosebleed seats, I began to question whether or not they are still raging against the machine.
