The purple Tape: One of the best albums ever. In order to get the best effect you have to watch the movie the killer with chow yhun fat which perfectly syncs with the album's theme.

I'd go liquid swords is the best of the wu solo albums. Then Cuban linx pt. 1, and then supreme clientele.

I was a junior in HS, when this album dropped. Yo, niggaz in Brooklyn that Tuesday, when it released was crazy! Picture this... A '96 black Lexus ES, pulls up at the HS parking lot, the Juniors and Seniors is on break for lunch. "Glaciers of Ice" comes on, and starts shaking the windows. Niggaz started breakin necks to see where that joint was coming from. Then, Reakwon on the album was dissing Biggie.. What?! We didn't see Biggie for weeks. Not on the radio or tv. No doubt, classic album!

That’s a weak excuse feefo good music holds up regardless of the era it was released in. I was born the year this album came out and only heard it the first time around 2013, still bump the shit out of it

I see what you want to say here, but the point of the era is good because yeah you can listen it and enjoy the music BUT if this is way after the release of the album you cant feel the same type of energy even the project is an absolute classic

It's wild... Listening to you younger cats talking about OB4CL and Wu, in general, reinforces why I'm such a hardcore hip hop head. I can't imagine copping a Wu album 4 or 5 years after it came out. We used to cop every issue of Source magazine, focused on "unsigned hype" and list of album drop dates. We used to go cop the single, maxi-single, or EP, the day it dropped, bang that shit and then cop the album the day it dropped. Psssh! If the album had multiple singles, we were putting dough in that artist's pockets for every drop that was part of that album - and back then, that was common. The chase for dope hip hop was more intense than the chase for tail. That's real! We were fortunate to be of age during that high point in hip hop, and it is impossible to explain how important hip hop was to everyday life back then.

Yeah, the time... If it's when it came out or nah, or not... Classics, classic review. I was born in 1997. Young man. So yeah I never listened to them in the 90s or even very early 2000/00s. Only in 2010s mostly, like attentively. Just heard some singles/hits in the 00s but only in 2014--> for attentive music listening. I'm 21 now. Now I'm a music nerd more or less. Cool, you guys do classic reviews. Recently subscribed to DEHH, awesome channel talking about hip hop. Respectfully.

Wu didn't feel like Rae or Ghost would be huge draws as a solo artists, that's why this and Ironman were albums of them tag teaming, they had to work a lot on their pen to get to the next level. They improved on their craft big time. If not for a fucked up flood in RZA's basement, I'd say Method Man's debut album was gonna be the best solo Wu Tang album ever. He was huge in 1994. The real GOAT Wu Tang member who made other dudes in Wu step their game up. Man fuck the floods, lol.
