    to the nerds in the comment section: i have a degree in history and guess what, and you can explain history without being an arrogant asshole. also, if you want to explain shit make sure you get your facts straight. some of you are assholes AND factually wrong. normalize engaging in a respectful conversation. it's good to be a nice person and you dont embarrass yourself if you happen to be wrong on something. to Rae&Jae: you guessed everything well. Yes, some mistakes here and there, but nothing dramatic. keep reacting to stuff like that

    The First World War was particularly brutal in the sense of no one understood at the beginning that it would be an all new type of war. It was very common for people at the time to think war was an adventure, which resulted in boys as young as 13 to lie about their age so they could fight.

    Its ww1. And flamethrowers were more projects the purpose of them was to clear out trenches and later in ww2 they were used to clear bunkers the problems were that they were targeted a lot more and running across no man's land and through trenches with highly explosive and flammable liquid was not fun and if they grouped up too close those close to the flamethrower would ger burned when it exploded and set others on fire.

  • @xazrith6139

    Also guerrilla warfare was not with guns and knives it refers to surprise attacks especially with camouflage and using terrain to ones advantage like in the revolutionary war when minutemen and what the us had for an army back then would hide in trees and bushes and wait for the british to walk past. also the bayonet was used for charges which were used alot the bayonet didn't kill quicker than a gunshot it was that it was close quarters,shooting with a big rifle in narrow corners was difficult so they would use the bayonet to stab and pierce vital organs which they would need to bleed out if they didn't hit anything immediately fatal.

  • @JaesReacts

    @JaesReacts

    We see why they would be a high priority target for the other side especially if they had snipers. One simple call to shoot the back of the flamethrower guys and they’d blow up a whole group of close.

  • @JaesReacts

    Especially for the guns they had back than. It would make more sense to just go for vital points of the body when that close with the bayonet.

    WW1 has been one of the most devastating war of all generations. How everything in WW1 has changed the shifts of the battlefield like artillery barrages, mustard gas, flamethrowers and so much more. But one of the most horrifying thing to see in the battlefield is the landship or aka WW1 Tank, Landship is truly one of the greatest armored vehicles that has ever changed the battle in history. Imagine, you being in the trenches and seeing 3 or 4 landships coming towards you and it not on your side.

    I'm not sure, if I understood you right, but did you call the stabbing and clubbing in the trenches of WWI as a part of the regular Trench Warfare a "Guerilla Warfare"? That isn't Guerilla Warfare. I'm recommending a short look on the Wikipedia article about Guerilla warfare, because it is more complex than I could explain it here. 1) I recommend to you to watch the two short "Oversimplified - WW1" Videos here on KZread to you before you are starting to watch this movie. Because I sense, that you have only few knowledge about that war. Those two videos are often reacted to because they are made very simple and entertaining. 2) This movie is shown now already in selected cinemas. It is recommended by all critics so far to use that chance and watch it on the big screen in the cinema instead of the TV at home. This could easily be the movie of the year, when I have a look at the reviews to far. Watch it in cinema as long you have the chance to do that.

    @@JaesReacts Hi again: If you are following that argumentation, then you could include all ways of killing someone on the battlefield as a part of Guerilla Warfare. But that isn't, what Guerilla Warfare is. Guerilla Warfare is a fight of irregular troups against an "official" army. For example: If a country is occupied and the people of that country have no other possibility to resist then to ambush the occupying army with civillians, who are not official combattants. It is a partisan warfare, like the Russians did it in the German occupied parts of their country in WWII. Therefore the Trench Warfare in WWI wasn't a Guerilla Warfare and the clubbing and stabbing in the trenches were no Guerilla tactics or part of a Guerilla war.

    It wasn’t called Gorilla Warfare, it was called Trench Warfare. Your confusing WW1 with the Anglo-Boer War back in either 1899 or 1900, (I’m not too sure which and I think the second one lasted Three years). The Boer were the original Gorilla Fighters, (they were the first to be described by the press as “Gorilla Fighters”, which closer to home is how the IRA were described by the British Army and National press outlets. Trench warfare as depicted in the film included killing with spade’s, bayonet’s, Trench Knifes, in fact both sides fashioned homemade clubs with Iron studs embedded into them, they also made them with nails sticking out, in fact if you take away the ammunition and just have bayonets fixed and the homemade weapons, you could say it’s more akin to a Medieval Battle. (Look up WW1 Trench Warfare homemade weapons or something similar to that).

    It’s based on a little know war know as world war 1 where war was industrialized for the first time, be it guns, ammunition, warships and even human lives, back then soldiers had little to any value outside of what victory’s they can gain, if capturing an enemy fortress meant pissing the lives of a million men and children away, in order to gain a tactical edge then those thousand of lives wasted would’ve been well worth the sacrifice, and by men I’m talking about boys aged sixteen even fifteen fighting and dying and unlike the piss poor excuse of the modern generation, refusing to fight could end you up either in a military prison, complete social isolation and even rejection , and at worst execution. This was a time where men fought wars and any man whom ever they may be if shown wanting or hiding Or refusing to take orders such as walking across open and flat ground towards a machine gun that can fire constantly for days with periodic lapses of changing the water In the water jacket to keep the barrel cool or change of belt (eg a reload) and if you refuse, they’ll prop you up against a wall and six men will stand in front of you and use you as a target practice, back then officers were really nasty, things like floggings (whippings), to summary executions, to firing squad were common. All the while the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife, the dead were left where they died and anyone who was dying were simply left to die in pain and alone, because it wasn’t worth the risk of loosing for men just to being back one guy, and again this was a time where only men fought in wars granted some nations had other ideas like the Russians however 98.999999999% of the fighting was all men, and in England entire towns and villages would literally become Amazons where it wasn’t that heard of for an entire village’s male population to be completely wiped out, and that’s not just the husbands but the brothers, uncles, cousins again many people back then never left their community and so entire towns would be wiped out by the war, things like chemical weapons were used indiscriminately, things like chlorine and mustard gas were a popular choice of chemical weapon, where the targets would slowly suffocate to death as they die in excruciating agony and third degree chemical burns as their genitalia falls off, their eyes would melt, their thongs would burn and their skin would peel. Other such weapons Include the popular flamethrowers being ideal in clearing out bunkers and trenches, burning the enemy alive and if any of them attempt to run and flee they’ll be gunned down by riffle and sniper fire very few people were taken taken prisoner and those who were either had some value that the Germans needed or was just easier to capture the enemy rather than let them fight on, but both sides just simple outright executed prisoners where they stood and their bodies would be used as sandbags
