This film shakes you, it shows the cruelty of war without sentimentalities. Speechless. And a big compliment to the young actors, especially Felix Kammerer, he leads you through the horror of war and shows us that war only produces losers.

False. Bankers and weapon manufacturers become very wealthy from wars. One of the main reasons why wars are fought in the first place anyway.

There are only 3 war movies that shook me to the ground. Saving Private Ryan, 1917 but nothing compares to this masterpiece. Truly horrific and stunnigly immersive. Ein Meisterwerk!

I still have the original 1st edition book from my great grandfather . and there have been 2 earlier movies , one made in 1930 and one in 1979

lol trailer is like the G version of an NC17 movie...

I was very sceptical.taking older ideas and Not making new ones Happens many Times specially in movies and i dont Like IT.this movie did great job.end ist little bit too much but Rest was shocking

I am defanitly not going to watch this movie because it is a Netflix movie. That means it is lot of drama and has nothing to do with the storyline in the book by Erich Maria Remarque, who served in ww1 himself. If you want to view a movie that is truw to the novel watch the movie dated back to 1979. With Richard Thomas and Ernest Borgnine as the main players

So true i have the original book and the 1930s and 1979 movies . Every remake of a movie or book is over the top drama.

It was picked up by Netflix in order to distribute it. Its the first ever German film version of the story. All the others were American film adaptations. I love the 1930 one and the 1979 version is okay. This is a German story that is finally being made by Germans, dont be like that bro.

Yeah dude, pls give it a try. Like the others mentioned ,it was only picked up by Netflix but its a german production (am german myself) and it will be our contender for the international oscar, but its also getting lots, lots of praise for its cinematography, production design, sound, the main actor and the faithful implementation of the story ofc. The only thing that is a bit sad, that its only getting a limited theatrical run, even in Germany. So most of the people will/have to watch it on their phones, laptops or idk…
