Radiator replacement for 2007-2013 silverado
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
changed the radiator on a 2008 silverado. The job isnt to hard so I hope this video saves you guys alot of headache and money out of your pocket. This may also work for Sierra, Yukon, Tahoe, Suburban. The Coolant used is compatible with all colors of antifreeze/coolant. Also make sure to check your owners manual for specific capacity and coolant type. Also this cooling system leaked all it's fluid and was just straight water at the time of replacement.

@@5150GringoGarage Foreal. GM dealer wants to charge me $1500 for radiator and transmission cooler line replacement. The cooler line is just as dirty as the one in this video, so I don't think there's an issue. I'm going to clean that line up and got the radiator delivered earlier.
I have got a small leak in my radiator and was thinking about changing it myself. After watching this video I have the confidence to give it a try. Thanks!
Great video, very thorough. You make it so the average person with a little mechanical knowledge can feel good about replacing it themselves. Thank you
Wow is amazing video the first time somebody explained really well like you congratulations
I just changed my radiator on a 2011 silverado following your video step by step. Thank you for all the help!!
Wow. You don't know how helpful this was. Very nice recording and very clear instructions. Thank you.

Quick question: my 2013 Silverado is losing a lot of coolant and it looks like it’s leaking from the seams of the radiator and I need to replace the radiator. Does this model have a petcock?
Great video. It moves right along and gets to the point. I’ll be checking you out from now on.
Just bought a used tahoe and it overheated on the way home. Steaming out of that low spot on the driver side. After this I'm gonna go ahead and be confident in buying a new radiator and going full send. Thank you for the video!
Extremely well presented tutorial. It is much appreciated!
Best video I’ve seen so far , this should be top video
When I started watching your video and you opened with the gringo bit, I thought this dudes a yahoo and clicked the thumbs down. I continued to watch the video and I have to say you did an outstanding job covering the whole process. Thumbs up.
Great video homeboy! Same leak on 2011. I'll give it a shot. Thank you.

I replaced the radiator on my 2007 Tahoe, the most challenging part was the 2 little clips that hold the coolant lines in. It took about 3.5 hours from start to finish. Mr 825 11/01/2019 Dallas
Awesome did my home work. Now for the test tomorrow. Gracias gringo
Thanks for the vid, took it out in a breeze thanks to you lol And those bmw lines experience helped me take those coolant lines off lol
GREAT job, man. Great f'ing job. Lot's of vid's out there with poor camera angles, weak explanations, stuff skipped over... But not you, brother. I followed you step by step and it went exactly as you showed it (although when the coolant got hot it suddenly started coming up out of the overflow bottle pretty heavy, but then it settled down and now it's fine). Drove it around to make sure and temp's holding steady at 210. Thanks!
My late 2007 silverado radatior cracked on the drivers side yesterday. Wanted to see what I'm expecting to do and simple to the point. Thank you
Thx bro I did change my radiator and thx all to u it was really a helpful video 💯💯
I'm here because I'm leaking from the driver's side also, about to go pick up parts now...thanks for the video 👍
Orale gringo congrats bato loko chingon saludos from Sacramento California
Awesome, thank you., i was not sure about the transmission lines.
good video compadre
Exelente trabajo saludos y muy buenas tomas
Thank you friend have a good day
Finally I would have really been nice if you would have made it so we can see how to tell which one of the radiator pipes we need thanks
You are the best Gringo!
Great job ❤
it was better to go to another level with the full aluminum radiator , leaving out the plastic : very good video ! Thank you
I brought my vin number to the O’Riley’s auto parts store combined with my tag number they knew exactly which radiator to use. They also give a 10% veterans discount. Looks fairly simple enough.
ORALE VATO I LIKE THIS GUY YOU VIDEO HELP ME A LOT THANK YOU AND VIVA LA RAZA
Very Good Compadre
Uhhhhh did you convert your truck to green coolant? You didnt put in Orange dexcool like gm suggests.
Good job
Watching this for my 2012 tahoe. Leaking same place as the Silverado

Would radiator size matter for me, I have a 2013 Silverado 2500HD Gas engine, I have coolant leaking but I cannot find the leak anywhere Also very informative video and Easy!! Gave me the confidence to do it myself, seems like all the engine bays are built exactly the same in all models of Silverados so that helps too,
What tools are needed to change the radiator? Good video, btw.
Hell yeah bro!!!
Any tips or tricks to get those lines reconnected? I’ve been trying for hours
hey where did you get the radiator from
Gringo, I used this video to help me out change my radiator exactly the same truck helped me a lot. The only issue now is that my truck is still overheating, any tips on how to fix this problem?
I use a kiddie pool under the truck for the dripppy liquid.
Buen trabajo 👍
Great video and helped me a lot on installing one on my truck. Quick question, does it matter if I use Prestone Dexcool or Prestone Platinum?

Tomorrow I will go get the antifreeze since I drained it all, but just want to see which is better or is it just a preference. Thank you
You don’t have to wait 10/15 min on to get the air out. Just press on the water lines until all the air gets out. Keep pushing the lines and keep adding water while the car is off
Thank you. Video really helped me out!
Why mix the coolant with water??
Great video! Im no mechanic but videos like this one sure help me feel like one! Quick question, what size is your radiator? I had trouble at first when i went in to my local auto store. Asked for the part, gave them whatever truck info i thought they needed, then they come out giving me 3 different sizes and i had no idea how to even find out the size lol. Guy there helping me ended up telling me where exactly to measure, but damn.. I felt like a complete dumbass lol.

I see... Mine is a 2012, 2wd, 1500. Its my personal truck, not a work truck or anything, but it still wasn't that easy for me since I was given the 3 different sizes. I believe the sizes were 25 28 then 34? 34 is what fits my truck. Anyway, again, thanks for the great video, it really helped! Good video and audio quality with clear and detailed instructions! I honestly thought it was going to take me all day to do this but its tooken me about 3.5hrs with smoke/beer breaks lol

@@5150GringoGarage Awesome video. Will do it myself now. Will probabely go to Autozone or Advanced Auto for the Radiator as I can't afford to wait for a Radiator or wait for a return if there's an issue. I've ordered from Rock Auto but they don't help you with any questions it's all up to you. Thanks again for the Video!!

I have a question for you. I own the same truck just a year older and my truck doesn't overheat but I want to ask you if it's normal on your truck as well to have the temp needle go to 3 quarters and then come back to the middle after fans kick on. And tranny temp always reaches around 215 on Silverado as well. Thanks.
@paquesepas6696
4 жыл бұрын
@@5150GringoGarage I'm reading that since I have the 4.8l version I don't have the tranny cooler and my fan is commanded later than the 5.3l so i guess it is normal for it to go to 3 quarters and then to the middle. Still weird to me.

I've got a 4.8 Silverado and the only times I ever noticed the higher temps was when the radiator fins were jammed with bugs. In the south we have bug season between April and July. They will overheat your engine if you don't carefully blow that crap out of your rad! Great question!

@@paquesepas6696 2009 Silverado LS. Best truck I ever owned. I've put over 100k miles on it. Still looks and runs great. Good luck with your cooling system. You don't want to blow a head gasket. Something I do is watch the temperature of the automatic trans fluid. Using the stem of the trip odometer reset you can cycle through the odometer, trip odometer and trans temp DIC readings. If the trans fluid gets hotter than 200 degrees your engine is probably hot too. The experts tell me to keep the trans fluid between 160-200. My truck has an auxiliary engine oil cooler too that looks like factory equipment. It is on the drivers side of the rad.
@paquesepas6696

@@jimparker7778 before that auxiliary cooler what were your temps? Yeah I have the temp reading showing on mine as well and after 30 minutes or so of driving I do get around 210 to 220 on the tranny temps and that's where my coolant needle goes to 3/4 and right back to middle once the fans kick on. Brand new original thermostat, water pump, coolant sensor, and had the radiator professionally cleaned. On the forums some say it's normal for the 4.8l work truck like mines but I don't know how accurate that is.
