For someone to find that recording and spread it around to the press… that tells you she isn’t liked by some working behind the cameras. Rachel Nichols strikes me as the kind of person who will force her way into decision making room and lock the door behind her so no one else can follow.

She basically used race “Diversity.” As the reason for someone other than herself getting an assignment. Ironically she herself is a recipient of the very same diversity initiative.

Rachel basically said don't make my job a token job.. therefore she's cool with black people coming up as long as it isn't at her expense. The only problem is she led people to believe she had their best interest at heart, but its her own interest that really matters. Wouldn't be a problem if she didn't portray herself as someone who really values and cares about black people. Her own fault for being misleading.

Only maybe a handful of their on-air personalities have something of a job security, so everyone is digging their heels in and protecting their income. It is not Rachel's job to care one bit about Black people, her job is to care about contributing to the forward momentum of her household and childrearing. For non television, it's appropriate for winterwear. A contrasting pocket square would bring a bit of life, notably if he's wearing dark colored pants like an indigo, or a medium grey, a shade darker than what's in his tie. No black pants.

Rachel Nichols was hired years ago because she was an attractive young woman. She no longer is and isn't as desirable for that job anymore. Lots of other people were more qualified than Rachel was when she got hired back in the day. Maria Taylor being black wasn't the reason she was hired. Being a younger, thinner, and more attractive woman is the reason. Rachel playing the "Karen" card in this situation exposes her mindset. It's factually inaccurate!

how the fuck do you know that? hmm? do you even know what a diversity hire is? the fact that a company has quotas for diversity hires should tell you what you need to know about them. maria taylor is qualified and has the background to cover sports but you cannot rule out 100% that her being a young attractive BLACK woman wasn't part of the reason she was hired? alot of espn analysts don't even have a sports background at the college / pro level but they have a job talking about sports.

Rachel spoke the truth

The female host has no problem with Rachel Nichols consigning being fed up with MeToo and BLM, when both of them publicly act like they support these movements.

There are many people getting hired because they are Not white. I’ve had hiring managers tell me to my face that they are trying to meet a “minority” quota. What ever happened to being hired based off your qualifications? Content of character > Color of skin.

There are many people who *don't* get hired because they're part of an ethnic minority too. Rachel being a woman, she could be a product of diversity policies herself. But that's no problem right ? I'm sure she'd feel some kind of way, if people implied that she's not qualified for her job because she has powerful in-laws to back her up. Of these two ladies, I'm not sure why the one with an actual background in sports is the one whose qualifications are being questioned.

Anyone who listened to the whole tape gets what Nichols was saying. She isn’t some big overt racist. She is a woman in a male dominated industry trying to keep what little she has. Every Woman at ESPN is threatened by Maria Taylor because she is good . If she wasn’t black, all the women at that network would be talking about her anyway because everyone can see her come up. Maria Taylor does tick off two boxes for the company in terms of race and her sex. This is about the good old boys at the ESPN network , that thinks they are exempt from any change in their practices because they are liberal virtue signalers. This helps Maria Taylor get more money because there is no way that ESPN can let her walk now. Maria Taylor’s price has gone up and they are going to have to pay her as a result. This will all work out for the best.

The minute that she brought up diversity it became a racial thing. She implied affirmative action was the only reason Maria got the job. When we see Maria covering the NBA, NFL, College basketball, l and college volleyball. Rachel's contract didn't say that she would be the ONLY host to ever host the finals. Also, Rachel can go to hell pandering to the athletes for interviews by posting about causes that she doesn't necessarily believe in.

The problem with Rachel Nichols' apology is that she left an enormous gaping hole in it. It was a half apology. She said the half where you say the words "I'm sorry." But she left out the half that begins with "because..." Also why did she include "to those I hurt" when the controversy is between her and Maria Taylor? 2 people. Woman to woman. But now you gonna apologize to the whole world and simply include Maria as just one of many?
