r/Entitledparents Entitled Father Almost Kills Me With Covid!

r/Entitledparents OP works as a tutor for young kids. Recently he's been doing online classes for obvious reasons. He has two entitled parents as clients who absolutely INSIST on in-person sessions because they believe that their kid is just incapable of learning through online sessions. OP begrudgingly agrees, and of course when he shows up the kid's father is coughing every 5 seconds. Want to take a guess as to what the father is sick with? I'll give you a hint: it rhymes with "blovid."

I know principals, and this Karen is like all the others. They get ahold of a bone, and they just don't let it go while making the principal's life hell until they get bored or someone higher up tells Karen to let it go. And as much as I would love to be snarky to her in a reply email, not one principal will ever do that. Not out of fear for their job, but out of fear it would give this moron the oxygen and attention they crave. Best to shut it down immediately with politeness. But, yeah, it would be hard for me not to ask Karen if she didn't have a life to tend to instead of obsessing over my signature.

Many professions have lessons in how to write and read illegible handwriting. This is to stop forgeries. Doctors, lawyers, pharmacists and even teachers are taught to be able to do this. Principle OP possibly had an illegible signature on purpose as he has to authorise a lot of things at the school and it was a safety measure. The fact that the EM couldn't read it was kinda the point.

When I first had my daughter, and even after she came home from the NICU I didn’t sleep a full night or even more than a few hours at a time for WEEKS. Not because of my daughter waking up, she was constantly sleeping as most newborns do but because I couldn’t get my body to let me rest, it was like I was running on adrenaline for months even after she was born. I get it, she’s young and parents do need a break, but I didn’t think you’d need/want a break from your newborn. Crazy.

The story with the Dad that had Coivd is similar to something that happend with my family and their friends. My parents friends had been exposed to Covid at work, and refused to get tested. They thought they were fine even thought they felt a bit sick. They came to a gathering with us and another family friend group (we all quarantined so as not to bring anything) and gave us all Covid. My Dad and the wife of the other family were sent to the ER multiple times because of the severity but were sent home because they didn't need to be ventilated and the hospital didn't have the resources to take them unless they needed to be. It wasn't until a day after my Dad had shared that he had tested positive they they finally confessed they had given it to us. They had know about it for 3 days before they told us. If my Dad hadn't gotten tested when he did we would have exposed my Grandmother too and she is immune compromised. They didn't even apologize for another 2 weeks and instead kept making excuses about why they didn't tell us and why they had attended the gathering knowing they felt a bit sick. During that time the other families wife had gotten very sick and had almost 24 nurse care at her home to keep her condition from getting worse. She would have been hospitalized but the hospital figured they could give her the care she needed at home to avoid overcrowding the hospital and straining their resources further. The family that gave it to us even let their son continue to go to school and sporting evens even thought they knew he had covid due to his fevers. SMH.

Not all parents have that level of cash to pay for college in the US so giving the child a chance to go to college without debt, especially from coming from a poor family. Is a sad but necessary act to get those scholarships. Like I would argue that trade schools also exist where the child has higher income earning potential for say becoming a plumber for example, but not all children want to become plumbers nor have the aptitude for a trade. Does not excuse for their entitled behaviour of course. Just saying, not every family is rich enough and do not want their kids to get into debt, is a reasonable thought to have if your poor.

Obviously your physical abilities are enhanced for that bit, but also your normal body functions (like intestines, ect) also shut down so its focused on dealing with the scenario. People have gotten hospitalized for being stuck in this kinda high stress fight or flight state cause of things like school and work, this sort of fear adrenaline is supposed to only be good for you in the moment, but prolonged stress like that is very harmful. Im not saying the covid dad is right, or anything like that, only living in fear isnt really a compliment Tl:dr- short burst of fear ok, long extended periods get you hospitalized

However, I dont believe a signature, especially in the case of the video, should determine and protect one's identity. Some banks and organizations do it amazing, such as asking for yearly updates. But if they don't ask, what then? You're fucked because you can't sign like you did years ago? No. Honestly, as crazy and out there as it is, I would be perfectly fine with biometrics, yknow finger prints. Yes the argument of hackers is there, but if the company is certified and has protection against hackers, I'd be happy with using my fingerprints. There are exceptions such as those that are injured; burns, amputations, etc. But I still stand by the point that a signature, or any other singular thing should decided your identity. It's a signature now, but in my case it was my birth certificate. I had to fly all the way to Texas to get that shit sorted, nothing else apparently verified my identity. Turns out people were just being assholes. What's the point of having all these other identifiers if once you miss one, you're fucked since the others can't verify you are who you are? I'm lucky that if shit happens to me, I can go to the VA which has my biometrics. I can prove who I am. Not everyone else is so lucky

Then there is secondary documentation you can used to make up the rest of point such as medicare card, utility bills, credit card, bank statement the list is extensive.

Most places require from 1-3 forms of major/primary I.D. like birth certificate, social security card, state I.D./Drivers License, etc. Basically anything that's issued by the state or country. Then there's minor stuff. Usually these documents are used to prove your place of residence. So bills, transcripts from school, basically any document that mentions you by name and also lists your home address. Usually most places require at least two of these.

See the elderly who can barely move as COVID-19 ATTACKED THEIR NERVES, family having to watch their parents die from COVID-19 organ failures... It's horrible. Covidiots have no idea what they're doing and that they're condemning people to death or complications.

But then it devolves into the horrible symptoms they’re talking about. The problem is once you have it, you can’t tell if it’s life threatening until it’s already begun severe damage so I don’t know what you mean by “If they were treated before”. So, rSlash here is writing a letter basically every 2-3 year, and when he can, he literally uses a computer to do the writing part. So bc he has a really bad handwriting, lack of practice, he cant replicate his signature, right? Well, let me tell you that rn i am still in uni, still using pen and paper to write stuff (ofc i use my computer to do assigments and stuff), so i get loads of writing... well the funny thing is that i have a really ugly handwriting that even i cant read half of the time, i can only read it bc i was the one who wrote it and i know whats supposed to be written there. Now back to the signature part... i dont have one, i literally write my name the BEST i can, and thats it, i literally cant replicate my signature even if i had to write it after each other. I have a different signature on my ID and on my Driving License. If i were in rSlash's shoes, i would have literally got on my knees, and begged to the guy to please accept my signature. It was a great story btw.

When I signed my name the first time at MEPS the guy commented on how pretty my handwriting was and another guy was like "Bet you can't keep that up for all the signatures." So I meticulously wrote out my pretty, swirly, loopy signature on every single line I signed. Thought my arm was going to fall off but it was totally worth it.

The kid was, of course, sick with Covid which the parent of course "forgot" to mention because he needed to see the architect "RIGHT NOW". Signature SHOULD be illegible! It's something to tell you apart from everyone else. It should be unique to you, it shouldn't be just your name in cursive or something. And it changes with years because YOU change as an individual. I just changed my legal name this month, I sure as hell fckn hope no one would make me sign a name that's not even mine! If you think about it, no successful person ever has a bland or super legible signature.

The primary function of a signature is to be an individual's legal mark, not to be readable. My signature is a nice, clean scribble. It's the exact same thing every time but people think it's bad handwriting just because they can't read it. Oh and then they hit me with this line: "Why do you have bad handwriting when you're a writer?" Wow. My man Rslash, let me level with you because I too admittedly have bad handwriting, but I always get mad when people conflate being a writer with having good handwriting. There is no correlation between the two whatsoever

The signature thing is ridiculous! When my mom was in the hospital dying of cancer, they needed her to sign another DNR (do not resuscitate). She had fought for 10 years and there was nothing else they could do except keep bringing her back when her heart stopped, even though she had accepted it was over. Anyway, so hospital admin says they need her to update and sign another DNR, which she does, but of course she’s very weak now, her right arm is huge from edema, and so her signature was shaky and not normal for her. So they compare signatures to the first one on file and say NOPE! Your signatures don’t match. We cannot accept this. She explained and tried several times to sign but couldn’t get it to match perfectly for them. You can imagine the rage I felt when I heard this. I understand it’s the hospital’s job to keep you alive but geez!! Fortunately for my mom, she ended up getting hospice right after that so she got her wish to go home and die in peace. Sadly enough, even then, my step dad forced her to take another chemo treatment to keep her alive and suffering for two more weeks. Anyway, I recently had a trust made and you can damn well bet I got a DNR which my lawyer says the hospital couldn’t argue with and my husband knows what I want. It’s absolutely ridiculous that some hospital admin gets to override a person’s right to turn down life saving measures because your handwriting wasn’t the same 10 years ago!! Arrggghhh!

Cue the awkward situation when he at 30 is buying a house and has to sign every document with 3 cat heads There are phases we cringe at from our youth and decisions that we regret but this signature was quite a unique one in my opinion

I work in a preschool/early education center (infants-5 year olds). Children’s parents will still, in 2022, knowingly bring their children with every possible covid symptom they could display: Fever, cough, runny nose, nausea, diarrhea, body aches, etc. It doesn’t stop there. Parents will also bring their children in with pink eye, the flu, and other extremely contagious illnesses😷. It makes all of the staff extremely uncomfortable and we normally will call the parents to pick up the child once we have discovered what is going on. A lot of the time the child will need to go down for an early nap because they are so sick. Mind you- We are open 7:45AM-5:00PM. We also have children from only a few months old to five years old that attend the early education center in different rooms. Sometimes the parents still won’t come to pick up until normal time and we can’t help but get illnesses going around from time to time. It’s the worst. Put on your masks and keep your kids home if they are sick. Us EEC teachers are absolutely in love with our kiddos and we want them to be as safe as possible in our care- There’s only so much that regular cleaning can do when you send a toddler with covid.

That last story had me like "did your sister ask for help making that baby? No? Then your sister needs to STFU and raise the child herself. If she doesn't think she can do that, have the grandparents adopt it" As a parent of 3 kids (14, 15 and nearly 20), raising a child is awesome actually. I've had my mom (dad bailed on me before I was born) offer to watch my kids... you know, because that's what grandmas love to do... spend time with their grandkids, spoil them rotten, pump them full of sugar and send them back to us. That's how it works. I never asked my sister to watch my kids for a few reasons. She lived in Brooklyn (I'm in Vegas), she has her own life and we're not that close because she's my dad's kid (whole other story there that I'm not fully unpacking in a KZread comment). Same goes for my brother but he lives in rural GA and is busy with work & his new relationship with his first boyfriend. Point being, if you're cool with creating a life, you need to be cool with raising it as well. If you don't want kids, get fixed.
