r/Entitledparents Karen Breaks Into My Property To Use My Pool!

r/Entitledparents OP has a swimming pool on his property, so of course the new Karen on the block shows up at OP's front door with her kids, and they're all wearing swimming suits. They believe that they're entitled to use OP's swimming pool whenever they want. OP turns them down and tells them that there's a community swimming pool just a few hours away. Naturally, the entitled Karen then breaks onto OP's property to use his pool without his permission! I will never understand what's wrong with being, "selfish for not having kids." So what? Being selfish and not subjecting children to neglect or abuse is significantly better than the alternative. There's nothing inherently wrong with being selfish, it's the circumstances that ultimately determine if it's a good, bad, or neutral trait. When it comes to having kids, I'd rather a selfish person focus their energy elsewhere than have children for the sake of having children. You can be selfless or help others in other ways, you don't have to be a parent.

My mother's neighbors are incredibly inconsiderate, both the dad and the kids. The dad essentially destroyed her shed by backing his truck into it. The kids launch their bikes and skateboards and junk down the driveway (which is a hill) with no one on them... they crash into our house, their house, their dad's truck, my mom's shed, etc. We've asked them to stop, we've told them to stop, we've yelled at them, the dad even yells at them. They still do it. I was mowing my mom's yard when I heard a loud bang. A bang so loud that I heard it despite running a lawnmower and listening to music with studio headphones. I turned and saw one of their bikes leaning against the shed and one of the kids just fleeing into the house because he KNEW he was going to get into trouble before he even did it. I just stormed over, picked up the bike, carried it to the opposite end of my mom's property, and threw it into the woods behind the fire pit. They never confronted me about it. They even got their dad and he never confronted me about it. I just finished the lawn and went about my business. The bike is still there and the dad bought them a brand new one instead, which they immediately began to destroy. Idiots.

That money one I can relate. My moms parents were poor when my mom was growing up. I'm just going to get to the point though. My nana hated seeing my family's success. We have a big house. Like 26 rooms. One of them had a movie theater set up. So yeah my nana is upset about this. My dad recently got a huge promotion and is making a lot of extra money. And my mom told my nana about this and apparently my nana froze. After 10-15 seconds she said well what are you going to do with that money? My mom responded with the regulars stuff we buy. And my nana said umm.. none for like gifts for us? I did have to catty you for 9 months and raised you. (My nana used to be extremely rude to my mom and my mom would get spanked for saying fart. So yeah strict.) and my mom did not know how to respond so she ignored that and said I have to go. Every time something good happens to use my nana doesn't care. Another good reason why we shouldn't get her gifts is because she has never sent my mom a card for her birthday. Another reason is because she tries to manipulate are family. One time when we were over she got upset because we weren't giving my nana's adopted son enough attention even though that wasn't are obligation. (Also the adopted kid just tried to punch me and body slammed my sister. Not soon after he punched me he almost burnt down my he house using the fireplace. My other sister was right by the fireplace to. He is autistic. This was right before she got mad for us not giving him attention. That's what she blamed his behaviors on. She blamed it on us.)

Honestly, if i was one of the other parents i probably wouldn't have thought the kid was physically injured, the roundabout can be dangerous, but usually to the ones who get flung off... I might have assumed the kid was either a) having a panic attack or b) attention seeking... but in no world on earth would I allow ANY person act like that EP -- you DO NOT interact beyond conversation with other peoples kids without express consent from the kid AND their parent. If I saw a visibly dislocated ANYTHING after that bitch hauled on a strangers kid, that woman woulda been on the ground and in as much discomfort as it took to keep her there until the police came. Im honestly shocked that the other parents didn't do the same -- if it was only after she was hauling on the kid that it became apparent that the kid had an injury, then it is totally logical to assume that the asshole pulling on the kid caused it.

Hey I just want to share this some were When I was 11 years old I lived with my verbal abuse grandparents. By verbal abuse I mean called me fat and ugly they treated my like a piece of property. They would come out to my trampoline and yell at me for nothing (I would be scared that they were going to hurt me). I would pack a backpack with lunch and go to the park till my mom got home. And if I ever told my mom, dad or stepmom they would yell at me saying I don’t need to tell any one. They caused ptsd anxiety and depression . But by the age of 11 I lived through a divorce, depression , anxiety, abuse, adhd. But that has helped me now because I am strong and have lived through so many things. Thank you for reading this far! ❤️ But this helped my now because I feel so much stronger and so much more brave. This also made me not feel things like bullying or toxic friends.

@@beckyhartley9502 she was married to my father for 32 years, and it was a very painfully abusive situation/relationship. But because she got married at 17, she was afraid and didn't know how to get out. We were too young, naive, or afraid in our own right to know how to deal with it as well. I was the idiot who thought it was normal. I thought this happened to every kid at home. Thankfully, we were all able to get out, but not before substantial damage had been done. It's deep seeded, but each of us is recovering slowly but surely. But I think mom is just so used to the whole manipulation thing, that she either doesn't see his bad points, or something. My next paragraph is not for condoning anything she says/does, to be clear. She lets him get away with too much and I feel like garbage because of it. Used to, he (the boyfriend) would call or she would call, and he would yell at me and scream how disappointed he was with me for doing music, and literally she wouldn't agree with me when I spoke to her, falling apart and tears, and told her he hates me. She would just say, "he doesn't hate you." Like, mom. He just spent an hour berating me about having musical talent, and every single time I visit (which I really don't much anymore cause I'm tired of his old fashioned false Christian righteousness and bs. I'm Christian, but my Jesus is a Jesus who loves, accepts, and builds up, and tells me not to judge others, lest I be judged. Instead, I am meant to love, so that's what I try to do, no matter who you are or what you've done...he is not like that.) he has something to say about how I'm supposed to clean up after a meal, because otherwise, how am I ever meant to be a housewife? Like dude, I NEVER said I wanted to be a housewife. I want a family later in life, but my husband will NOT stop me from having musical gigs, writing books, or having a social life with other friends. He ain't gonna be my husband for long if he expects me to put who I am behind me and exist to simply please him. Nah-ah, pal. Not happenin'. And if he does the "I'm perfect" act before we get married and after does a 180° I will be kicking his ass to the curb. I didn't get out of abusive from all male figures in my life (which gave me severe anxiety of men; probably why I'm single still) just to fall back into it. I will serve papers, and if the house is his, I'll leave. If it's mine, I will toss him out - or get the cops to if he tries to fight me. My mom and both my sisters went through that and refused to listen to me and get out, and my big sister, who broke away for a while, went right back to the man who abused her, so...yeah. I refuse that. I also refuse any labels from old fashioned men, who think I'll never be good for anything except cleaning a house and looking after kids. Newsflash Mr. Crider: Been there, done that, cared for 5 kids that weren't mine at any given point, cleaned after 11 people only one of which was myself, and did this for four straight years ALONE because everyone else was too busy all the time to help. I'm capable of playing housewife/slave if I need to or want to. But it's time I did something for me, My life and my future. Everyone else can go on the back burner cause I've been there LONG enough! Btw, sorry for the rant; not mad at you and congrats if you got this far. Nobody really ever reads my rants. Thank you if you somehow manage...

There’s a mindset that’s basically the “bystander syndrome “ it’s a phenomenon that when a group of people are together in a situation where one of them could help, none of them will. They all freeze because it’s a job they expect one of the others to do. It’s not something that you can really blame people for because it’s an automatic response. You don’t know how you’ll react unless you’re in that situation.

@@tabiibat Yes, that's also if you ask for help, you always need to speak to people directly. If you say "someone call the police", nobody will call the police. But if you look/point at one specific person and tell her to call the police, they most likely will if possible, or state why they physically can't (which isn't really the case anymore as everyone owns a telephone)

What i mean is that, while most social medias are usually mostly used by a certain demographic, Reddit is used by all and i never see anyone talking about it, maybe because no one uses their name and pic no one noticed but i like it.

I also have hEDS and the dislocations are so excruciating as a kid. As bad as it sounds, the older you get the more you get used to the pain until you hardly flinch when you pop a joint. I remember sliding into a base as a kid playing softball and somehow dislocated my hip and shoulder on the same side, the coach thought we needed an ambulance but my mom and older sister helped me put everything back in place and I ended up playing catcher for the last 2 innings. (after a short break) Growing up I constantly heard about how I was " faking it" despite obviously having joints out of socket. Now I'm in my mid 20s and don't get up as easily and have confirmed a labral tear on my right hip from constant dislocation and subluxation. Super fun. All I know is that if my kids inherit hEDS, I'm going to be the best advocate for them.

I have HEDS and this condition sucks. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 23. I've dislocated my knees several times, shoulders, jaws, etc. Having gone through similar situation, it led my boss to quit. I was a line cook, was working, and the floors were a tad slippery. I stepped wrong and my knee bent the wrong way, causing it to dislocate. My boss, having heard my scream in pain, tells me to get up and get back to work. Mind you, while he was bantering me, I'm popping my knee back into place. I'm wearing shorts, so there was no hiding that I VISIBLY DISLOCATED MY KNEE. He told me he will give me a 5 minute break, and then I need to get back to work. That didn't happen, I called for a ride, and crutches because I couldn't walk. He tried to fire me. I told the owner of the store what happened, they talked, andy boss quit. Was out of work for 2 weeks, came back to someone I was happy to have as a boss, she herself has HEDS.

As yet another commenter with EDS, I can confirm, that girl was in excruciating pain, and just to give people an idea of how easily a dislocation can happen; I currently have a knee partially dislocated (subluxed), it has been for about 36 hrs now, and I can't get it back in on my own, the local hospital is clueless and I still have a full day before I see my EDS knowledgeable osteopath, it happened because I locked my knees while standing which hyper extended them and this one decided it didn't like that this time, so to get yanked off something like that when you're wrapped around it and already dislocated is not just cruel, it's brutal and absolutely assault, I hope the girl from that one is doing ok and that the EM didn't cause permanent damage, I never really get emotional about these, but that story had me crying because I can imagine the pain she went through.

These entitled parents remind me of something that happened to me 3-4 years ago. A friend and I were just riding our bikes on the sidewalk, which looped around ours and two other apartment buildings, and we're not bothering anyone. This one lady with her kid (who I know to be particularly annoying) is walking on the sidewalk, where we are, so we go around her in the pebbled area. Lady must have seen us out of the corner of her eye because before I got past her she hip-checked me into a wall, along with my friend. Of course, I biked straight to my stepdad, who confronted her about it. She said some nonsense about how we (my friend and I) shouldn't be riding our bikes on the sidewalk, even though we haven't bothered anyone (and her kid rides her scooter on the sidewalk almost every day). Friend's dad gets involved, the police get involved. Nobody gets in trouble, but the cops did go talk to her about it. I think it was soon after this incident that she moved. Never saw her again.

If all else fails, leave it to the ONE family member who has stood by you! Money is WASTED in 90% of charities, as it gets used to pay salaries and into the pockets of corrupt businesses. NEVER leave your money to charity. Rather find a family member you approve of or even just a friend you approve of and leave it to them, to someone you KNOW and who you know will do something worthwhile with the money and their life.

If I was that last person with the pool I'd have invited a black family to swim in it and make sure she saw them enjoying it when she wasn't allowed to. Now, as for the playground story, man, if I ever see something like that happening there's a good chance the entitled parent will become closely acquainted to whatever mobility aid I'm using at the time. I've been dealing with chronic health issues since I was born and my experiences have left me VERY protective of minors with disabilities to the point there was one time at my last job the only reason I didn't wind up getting fired for assaulting a customer was there were too many good regular customers between me and him when he cussed out a 7 year old with a pediatric walker and accused him of faking his disability and order him to hurry up because he wanted to get out the door. As it was the guy looked for the nearest employee to complain to while waiting to exit and saw me giving him a death glare (despite being 5'4" and disabled needing mobility aids apparently my angry/pissed off glare is intimidating enough to really scare people) and clammed up. Seriously, if I see anyone pulling shit on a disabled kid I'm 100% ready to lay a verbal or physical smackdown as needed. I don't even need to know the kid or any of their family.

Once while me and my brother were young,we were playing in a pool at a nice hotel. (if wasn't super nice but it had a 6ft pool that was a pretty good size) Me and my brother were playing together, splashing each other and doing as 8 and 9 year old kids do. A family came into the pool area and me and my brother started playing with the other kids. The mom yelled at us about how we shouldn't splash her because she didn't want to get wet. I,as hard as my little arms could, splashed her. She was only about 3 feet away from the shallow end, there were seats that were on the opposite side of the pool in the deep end, where me and my brother avoided. I only splashed her after she told me to just go and play in the deep end and to not touch her children. My mom had pointed out that she wasn't even staying at that hotel. She told me that I shouldn't have splashed her but it was funny because she started yelling and cursing me out and she got even more mad when I, an 8 year old child that had just lost her favorite grandma about 2 weeks prior and her pitbull ran away and was lost, started crying. I was inside my hotel room with my mom and brother and my dad was talking to the lady outside. The cops came for a reason that I don't know and they took her and her husband away, the children stayed with the hotel staff until their grandparents could come get them and their stuff.

Unauthorized swimming pool use is a bad insurance risk. Not barricading an attractive nuisance sufficiently to keep people out can put the homeowner in a dangerous financial - and maybe legal - situation. I suggest the homeowner get an injunction against harassment to keep her and her family off the property and protect himself/herself. The woman's already next door and a lunatic so there's no telling what else she might get up to. An order against harassment is your best friend if you have to call the police or she calls the police on you.

My mom and I both have H-EDS. She’s dislocated her shoulders so many times that she knows how to pop them back into place. I’ve been lucky enough not to dislocate anything, but i pull AT LEAST one muscle per month. Putting on a jacket, reaching a bit too far to grab something, walking on uneven ground… these have all caused countless pulled muscles. Plus it can cause chronic pain, which I’m unfortunate enough to have. It’s NOT fun. But hey, at least i can freak people out with my funky joints lol.
