massive respect to you as a doctor and a vlogger, your honesty and insight is therapeutic. I wish doctors and medical workers in general were better paid.

I’m surprised anyone does medicine to be honest. You need top a levels, a smashing personal statement and UCAT score. With those stats you could get into much better paying degrees like economics or computer science at a top university. Rather than going into 70k of debt only to make a working class salary.

yup. working over 60hours after ur 40 is waste of life. worse if ur a doctor who works a lot + spends a lot = you can't quit cause no money so you have to work untill you can retire. which is age 60. if ur a doctor and u hate working for the system then save 40-60% of ur income. free urself by having ur own place / invest it so u can decide later the hours / places u want to work at. use ur money to create you freedom / leverage.

Do you regret doing medicine - and perhaps not a better paying profession?

Hi Kenji, just wondering how you supplement your income throughout medical school and as a junior doctor? Obviously youtube and UCAT / med school courses are one. How else can you utilise your medical skills for income as I totally agree the junior doctor salaries are criminal!

would the hypothetical ‘Doctors assistant’ be similar to what a current physicians associate would do?

As a 4th year medical student, I’d strongly encourage you to do your research before you confirm any of those offers. You’re probably a smart person and have good a level grade predictions, don’t let that go to waste on a medicine degree. Just look at what is going on in the news right now with doctors striking because of how poor the pay is. Throw in a poor work life balance, crap healthcare system to work it, and you realise what little benefits doing medicine has. At the end of the day, this is your life, I’m sure most smart people want their hard work to pay off, well medicine doesn’t offer that, do computer science or economics instead.

@@electri2024 I agree. However some people do really love medicine and can really see themselves as a doctor. Just such a shame they are currently not getting paid what they are worth.

@@johnboy223311 I’m sure some people can’t imagine themselves being anything other than a doctor, but your livelihood should come above your career at all times. 16/17 year olds applying for medicine have no idea what they’re getting themselves into only to regret it once they qualify and by that point it’s too late.

@@electri2024 Thank you for your input. I have heard this from many med students and foundation doctors and have seriously considered it. For now, I'll go through to get my MBBS and then if being a doctor is REALLY that rough, I'll probably consider research. I hope your end-of-year and final exams go well, do let us know what you do in a few year's time when you graduate! Your opinions are more relevant than you think, thank you! 🙏

@@th17-cell45 thanks for the appreciation. Yes research is a field that you can pursue with a mbbs. I still encourage you to explore other options before finally deciding whether medicine is right for you.
