QUIT Doubting Yourself! How To Dominate Your Burpee Workout

Ойын-сауық

Eliminating thoughts of doubt such as, “I can’t do this” or, “this is to hard” can provide you with the confidence to attack, and ultimately dominate your burpee workouts. Or any workout for that matter.
During this 20 minute workout of 10 counts navy seals, I came to learn this lesson the hard way.
Be sure to check out each of the chapters below, for some thoughts and commentary on the workout.

you have a great mindset, dave. me...i'm riddled with doubt every time i tackle something that seems a bit beyond what i can do. i have learned that once you're past the beginner stage, gains come in increments and sometimes there are reversals before the gains come. i have also learned that growing your channel is a gradual process for most people. i started watching tjibbe back when he had about 1,000 subscribers and i thought he should have hundreds of times that. my channel is growing slowly, but you're way ahead of me. your editing is very good as well as your production. you're also a good instructor and example for anybody who wants to get started doing burpees and home workouts.

As always Bruce, I appreciate your thoughtful and supportive comments!! Yes for sure, once the honeymoon stage is over, that’s when the real work, or the grind begins👍. As for subs and channel growth. There are SO many factors that play into that, imo anyway. Steady and consistent growth is good, yes. But I do understand what you’re saying when you mentioned about how you thought things would grow faster then they actually are. I try to keep the mindset that if I don’t quit, then I won’t fail. As long as things are progressing and growing, even if it is slow, then you and I must be doing something right, hey😉. And I really am grateful for the last part of your comment Bruce. I’ve only very recently started editing and adding little details to the videos. I’m glad they are noticed and appreciated by some👊.

@@DavidWhitten I think your narrations and explanations of what you’re doing are very helpful to anyone trying to build their numbers. It shows that you’re thinking about what you’re doing and have a game plan. I’ve changed my focus toward doing calisthenics skills and I’ve found that my audience seems to like shorts better than my longer videos. Watching me hold a plank or a horse stance is kind of like watching paint dry and probably isn’t very interesting to most people. I’ve also taken a step back with my expectations and I’m just letting things grow or not as they will. It takes any pressure off and keeps my workouts fun. I’m also keeping my production simple for now ala Iron Wolf and Tjibbe. It just fits my personality better.

First of all big congratulation on smashing out 80 seals💪! I’m sure you’re proud of that effort, and if you’re not, you certainly should be😉👊. But I do totally understand what you’re saying. I see Max do 132 the other day and think the same as you. And I totally agree about the tactics vs psychological aspect. For me, I like to make sure I have enough gas left, so that I can finish strong. That’s hard to do sometimes though ,hey. What approach do you use when doing your workouts?

I am on week 34 of the Busy Dad program. I have noticed that once you hit 100 NS reps it is a slow grind to add any extra reps week after week. I am currently stuck on 105 for my NS. Every week is a fight to add just one more rep. Good thing is that this becomes a life style not just a program you do and quit. So you have plenty of time to get to 120, keep grinding and reap the rewards of consistency!!

I think anyone who can crack 100 in 20 minutes is miles ahead of the average male. I’ll agree with you that burpee training, or any exercise for that matter is definitely a lifestyle. I personally fell in love with burpees in 2020 and haven’t looked back. I’ll definitely keep grinding and enjoying the process though man. Feel free to drop back anytime and let me know how you’re doing with your own training👊.

Saw your comment...What it needs is a little further overload. What I find works is doing the 20 minutes as well as you can, then 5 mins rest, and another 5 minute effort, 5 mins rest and another 5 mins effort all at your "race pace"...or... use a weighted vest for the 20 minutes.

Awesome video, David. Doubt is such a big hindrance on our path to self-fulfillment. I feel it often, but I allow it to operate because often times enough it has helped me realize other elements outside of my training that might be blocking me. Edging closer! Great push once again. I still think the key here is overload. I am thinking I might have a go at these myself, although also sort of don't want to get sucked into it or I know it will occupy my entire brain and I will not do as much of my other training 😄. I think my approach would be doing the 20 minutes [I may have said this before], then 5 mins rest, and another 5 minute effort, 5 mins rest and another 5 mins effort...[maybe do that a third time]...or use the weighted vest for the 20 minutes. All food for thought👍

Haha I hear you about getting sucked in. It certainly does dominate your overall training. It is hard to mix in other routines and still find time to be fresh and rested to go all out for the numbers. I did try the sprint session and found that useful. Perhaps a weighted session is in the cards👍. It is definitely a muscle failure issue for me, as opposed to lacking the cardio capacity. As always I appreciate the food for thought Duncan👊.

It’s a pretty typical greeting here in Newfoundland and Labrador. A classic line here in NL would be, What are ya at? How’s she going buddy, what are ya at today? The response from the person who was asked this question would be, not much me son, or nudding b’y, what are ya at? And an hour of your burpees is definitely something I want to do man. You ain't quitting. You caught the bug. You'll be at this shit until the day you die. And I can tell you you'll be glad you did. "It's slow, but it's progress". The truth in this statement is "it's progress". We humans want everything yesterday. That isn't real. It doesn't work that way unless the person is a steroid cheater. You are pushing to a new level for you. That takes time. A few things you might want to think about as you pursue this goal. First, drop that rock back at the top. You're not hitting your stomach. I don't see the point in that anyway? It's a waste of around one second at the top. Multiply that across 20 minutes and that's a lot more reps. Adopt a crisp by the numbers military style. On this note don't give up quality for quantity. 110 done in proper form is going to elicit a better training response then 120 done all spastic w/ momentum just to hit the number, and will greatly reduce the chance of injury. Second, make sure you're fully recovered before attempting the next test. Third, run a few sessions where you do it w/ a weight vest. Then, drop the vest and test. BE SURE TO RECOVER!
