    Finally someone with audio knowledge reviews the G6. This is the ONLY real gaming DAC, hopefully we get more in the future. I use this as my main DAC along with the SMSL SH6 for my Sundaras to play movies, games and music. Not real surround, but one of the best Virtual Surround systems, and the only one that works with everything.

    Picked up one for $90 because I was having technical audio issues on my PC and I’m blown away by the sound quality even with my crappy headphones, I would’ve picked one up sooner if I knew it would make that much of a difference.

    I have this and in spite of the software being pretty janky at times it's perfect for someone who needs a lot of IO options and a ton of software options. They even update the software with new features from time to time, I'm really hoping for parametric EQ support sometime down the line.

    This is so on point. Very nice quick review! Really liking this new format. This device is just above all audiophile and marketing bs. It is just a very good DAC/AMP with great sound, power and very useful features. I own/owned way more expensive DAC AMPs and neither of them could replace the XG6 for multimedia and gaming. I still use other gear like the RME ADI 2 DAC for music, but the XG6 is perfectly fine for music too. My daily driver is a Final Audio D8000 pro, which is ridiculously expensive, and most of the time Im using the XG6 with them. Most of my "audiophiles" buds laughs at this because there's so much prejudice towards "cheap" stuff. Try to find a USB powered all in one with this power and features... TBH I could live with this as my only device.

    I really enjoyed this when I had it. Even from an audiophile perspective I prefer it to a Fiio K5 pro as it is MUCH smaller and runs off just a USB connection for power and data which is great.

    i really look forward to your full review i've had the G6 for over 2 years now in that time i've had also many amps and dacs many dac amp combos some costing up to $1000 and in all that time i've come to one conclusion G6 beats them all when you factor the price it's sounds amazing just as good as $1000 dedicated dacs it has very powerful and clean amp that little rivals every up to $1000 and it's has more inputs then most dacs not Only that but it also has Integrated EQ which is actually extremely good so if you are a gamer and like to listen to music believe when i say you don't need anything more then G6 it's not pretty but it just works and does everything plus you can connect amp to it if you want i recently got the ifi Zen Can and Zen Dac v2 to test don't use the Dac but sometimes i use the Ifi Zen Can connected to the G6 but make no mistake G6 can sound exactly like the Zen Can if you know how to tune the EQ i've also tryed several Topping dacs and amps Both Fiio K5 Pro versions and the G6 has it all thats why i ended having 4 G6 you may want like i wanted this and that but you really Don't need anything more then G6 btw the sound without any EQ is as good as some of the most expensive dacs and amps on the market and it works woth everything plus it has mic inputs yes two actually the front headphone jack can accept mic input or use the dedicated mic input plus you can also use it a Mobile dac amp btw i tested Ifi idsd Diablo and the G6 beats its on All points expect it dosnt have a battery

    Very well said I can agree with you on that installing the software is a pain but that's about it the fiio K5 pro ESS has more power if you don't need a mic Jack or if you're lucky you can find a monoprice liquid spark or Schiit magni 3 plus and it does sound fantastic for the price it's a little weak on power but that's about it and there's no type c which will bug me for durability

    I love mine. I’ve had it about two years. Just using it stock without any sound modes or altering it with the software it sounds very clean and neutral. My main issue is that it doesn’t retain the sound changes you make using the software if I want to use it on my PS5. While I do enjoy the fact that using the optical input allows it to decode Dolby digital the sound does cut out a bit with an optical connection. I have the latest firmware installed and those issues have always persisted. Even so I still would buy another one in a heartbeat if the one I have broke.

    I picked the Sound BlasterX G6 to run a usb/minitoslink 7.1/5.1/2 to run hifi edition xs headphones and then also run 3.5mm to rca into aiyima a07 to Sony SS-CS5 or Micca RB42 for pc gaming/streaming,/music setup. Nice the Sound BlasterX G6 has direct mode for pure music no effects other then filters. Then various gaming/movie modes with all sort of settings to tweak in the two app. one app is s old and ones new. seems to have the same settings. Few settings can be tweak on the side or front knob at the price the input/output were nice compare to other hifi dacs. Cheaper headphones with the high gain will be too much loudness. Enough amp power to bring harder to drive headphones to useable levels. With software and firmware updates many of the old issues seem fixed. Maybe I missed something wish it had hard on/off button. Still need pair a good mic for this setup of mine..

    Nice review. I have had mine for a while now and must say on the PS4 it was amazing, yet on the PC, I've had nothing but problems. When I have Discord on and try to play a game, the audio cuts out. When the sound does work, it mutes the game audio whenever I talk. I do no use the mic input on the G6. I have went to many forums and placed a support ticket and found no resolution. I have uninstalled the software and firmware several times to no avail. Any suggestions you may have would be greatly appreciated. Right now this is a paperweight for me, I can't even get it to work with some small speakers, when watching videos (headphones or speakers) the sound lags about 20 seconds behind the video and randomly cuts out. (Edit). I use Audio-Technica ATh50 headphones and a separate USB mic.

    Price/Performance/Features this thing is still the best DAC/AMP with a mic input on the market. Creatives newer products are still no match for this IMO. But if wouldn't recommend this if youre primarily use IEMs, noise floor can be noticeable on some inefficient iems.

    @@NoThemeReviews Hey there, I have a SoundblasterX G6 and I wanted a great pair of all-round headphones to tag it with. I'm extremely confused between the Fidelio X2HR and TYGR 300R, I don't know which one to choose so I was hoping that you could help me. Here are my requirements: First of all, I don't care about competitive gaming (multiplayer/online fps) at all. I only play single player, story-based games (like God of War, Red Dead etc) and I like watching movies as well. So basically, what I'm looking for is *IMMERSION* above all else. Any suggestions?

  • @NoThemeReviews

    @NoThemeReviews

    @@princesmith8008 I've never heard the Tygr, so I really don't know how it would compare. The X2HR is a good headphone with a fairly warm, bassy sound signature. You have lots of options, including the Sennheiser HD569, AKG K371 or 361, Sivga Phoenix, and others. If you've heard the X2HR and like it, then you should stick with that; otherwise, you'll go mad wading through all the various opinions about the "best" headphone in any given category.

    @@princesmith8008 Sadly that’s the nature of the audiophile hobby. I use several headphones to compare with, and if someone has one of them, they hopefully get an idea of what the headphone I’m reviewing might sound like. I hate to suggest you spend more money than you need to, but perhaps spending $12 for a neutral IEM like the Moondrop Quarks may be worth it in the long term. If you listen to that and decide that you’re looking for a headphone with a similar sound or a headphone with more bass, clearer vocals, etc, then it would be easier for at least me to offer more concrete headphone options. But, again, that’s spending more money and it’s only my opinion you’d be relying on. Anyway, the XH2R is a good headphone, and if you buy it from Amazon then at least you can get your money back if it doesn’t work out.

    G6's strengths have been fairly described in this review, but it is not a flawless device. First of all, the mic input is pretty sub par - worse than on a cheapo Sonar SE or equally priced Hel. Second - the driver install is definitely not always easy and might require booting in safe mode. Third - switching between audio sources(headphones and speakers for example) can only be done via software or physically unplugging either device. Fourth - imaging while good is not stellar and a bit interior to other gaming oriented DACs. Fifth - getting the most of of this device might require firmware updates which not everyone will do. As an example, the mic input quality is truly awful(worse than a mediocre onboard audio) in some of the earlier firmware versions.

    @@xzuniga1260 No idea which is best. In my experience all of them except maybe HyperX Amp (the cheapo USB dongle over) were at least decent. The aforementioned Xonar SE was very good for the price but it is an internal PCIe card. Currently using Hel and happy with it. Overall I'd say dollar for dollar you'll get better imaging ROI from headphones rather than DAC/Amps.
