Everything about this song is amazing. My favorite story is about bassist James Jamerson, which can be heard in the documentary called "Standing In The Shadows Of Motown". Jamerson was apparently drunk as a skunk and wound up playing this very complex and intricate bass line while lying on his back inebriated. Most people sober have a hard time doing this song justice standing up, yet Jamerson made it a master piece track. As far as I'm concerned Jamerson is the greatest bass player of all-time.

The dopest thing that people didn't notice is the 2 brothers singing with Marvin were players from the Detroit Lions! Dope!

That's one of the main reasons why Questlove remarked on the singing not being polished But that's exactly how Marvin and Van De Pitte (the Arranger) wanted it.

The power of sound to locate you in a specific type of place and time is crazy.

Funny that Questlove sees this as a dead of winter dark night song, I don't. In 2005 I was walking up Avenue of The Arts in Philadelphia as they were shutting the street down for a pre 4th of July block party near City Hall. A DJ for the event was just powering up as the sun was setting and use this a his opener. I thought, WOW what a great vibe this is and this song will forever feel to me as a song for a summer sunset, slipping into the warm night, surround by Brotherly love.

Song is brilliant and resonates til this day. The layers are amazing when hearing them separate. Saw it broken down in the order it was made and out blew me away.

In a TV interview after the Let’s get it on release they asked Marvin his thoughts on the WGO album and his response was “I don’t remember a single thing about the making of that album.” He continued...” God made that album”. He was dead serious and didn’t wanna discuss it any further.

The section about the way the music fades out just relieved so stress! I always thought there was something wrong with my Ipod or the mp3 file! hahaha!

The snare is one of the best parts of this song. Sucks they didn’t discuss that.

I always wondered why the fade then then the pop up i thought it was an accident when they merged them together then there was a blank spot but whats going on is one of the only songs if not the only song i have heard with that fade out then push the music up then the final fade out
