Why is the video letterboxed?
I feel like he regrets having publicly stated his 10 film plan. I feel like now he’s placed unnecessary pressure on himself to deliver his best “last dance” movie.

Your a legend!
If it's a great written story, then he should have another director direct it and he's just the writer and producer of it if he really wants to stick to the 10 movie thing
I have to say that the idea of a "tarantinoverse" sounds kinda cool. Having cliff booth to come back for this story tells me that some other things could happen or have happened in the world of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Cliff was such a cool character and watching him in a more standalone adventure in theory sounds cool.
Isn't it possible that an even better idea struck him, and he decided; "omg, this is the one instead?"
He will do something original. Always has. He's not ending on a sequel or known property.
I want him to make a movie about Nikki getting her revenge on The Bride.
He said he always wanted to do a horror movie. That’s what I’m hoping for
@spextrekid9410
24 күн бұрын
now that would be interesting. if Frankenstein wasn't already being made by Del Toro (?), I would say Tarantino would be a great choice to make an old school horror movie as a remake.
Seemed like his career would've gone out with a period instead of an exclamation.
I agree with John i think its a self imposed cap, the 10 movie cap is while in theory nice, it puts immense pressure to deliver that "perfect" final film, and he's got plenty of great ideas. It does givr me hope that maybe Kill The Bride could happen lol
There's so many places he could go after 'Once a upon a Time in Hollywood', but I feel like that was his masterpiece, he can't really top that. Honestly, I think he should not over think this and just make a kick ass 70s/80s style action film. I heard somewhere he thought of remaking the first Rambo? Something like that would be epic.
I remember QT saying that he almost scrapped Basterds because he couldn’t find the right actor for Hans Landa (before Christoph Waltz nailed it). Is it possible that this is what happened here? The Movie Critic didn’t have a lead that was “right as rain”? So he simply moved on?
Considering it's been years since another director has been given the reigns to film a Tarantino script, I would love to see him hand this script over to his buddy Paul Thomas Anderson. It seems fully in his wheelhouse and would sit nicely with Boogie Nights and Licorice Pizza.
I bet he'll still write a story set in the late-70s. Maybe something that's Brian De Palma-esque (a director he loves).
Now people and Tarantino all think “if it’s the last one ever it better be a masterpiece” and that’s some pressure he put on himself for no reason at all.
He has said many times, if it aint worth makin, he aint makin it. So he must have hit a roadblock and figured to do something else. He makes movies for himself, and I love that about him.
I think this 10 film thing is silly. if he insists on it, i am glad he has moved on from the movie critic. didn't care for that idea.
@Yamas258

I hope he realizes that a director can still make award winning films later into a career.
If he makes Kill Bill 3 it’s a loophole and not considered his tenth movie
@MatiZ815
23 күн бұрын
Not really. The reason why he considers Kill Bill 1 & 2 as one film is not because it's a sequel but because it's not. It's one movie that ended up being split into two because it just turned out too long. That wouldn't be the case with Kill Bill 3, that would be a seperate film and it would count.
Considering Uma was at the PF retrospective, I wonder if he's been secretly filming KB3? Another movie that could feature almost every actor he's worked with. I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing a bunch of misdirects to keep internet banter away from him.
...Could explain why P.W. Hauser has moved on to the Farley biopic.
Please make another Kill Bill call it Kill the Bride😉
@WallEWorld

Then the little girl that saw her mom get killed by Kiddo actually get Revenge!!!!
Place your bets! It's either 'Killer Crow' (the Inglorious Basterds spinoff), 'Kill Kiddo' or an original film 🤔 hm...
And I really call BS on the 10th being his final film. He casually brought up the idea in an interview as a funny thought, the media ran wild with it, and ever since he's never really said it would be his last. He just hasn't corrected anyone from saying his 10th is his last. Like the guy who has his crew chant "we love making movies" before each shot is going to give up making movies? Unless there's some physical ailment keeping him from doing it that we don't know about or his audience fully turns on him, that dude's going to keep making movies.
I really enjoyed once upon a time in Hollywood, it was nice to step away from the genre movies, but we’ll see what happens. Also the cast for movie critic seemed kind of stacked. My only hope is the movie critic goes to tv.
People also forget that his family are from Isreal he was living there before the war started. He’s probably been all over the place recently and maybe it’s given him time to reflect and feels it’s time to do something different from The movie critic who knows what head space he’s currently in.
I remember him saying ab OUATIH, that functions as his last, and this next one functioning as a sort of epilogue. I wouldn’t be surprised if this last one feels more like Deathproof or Django rather than PF or Hollywood, just a fun time where he can stretch his legs and go nuts
That's a bummer. I was looking forward to it because of how un-Tarantino the premise sounds and it seemed like another love letter to cinema.
Quentin himself has already said (in a couple interviews I suppose) he deeply loves the horror genre, I haven't forgot he did make that slasher-esque thriller in 2007 but he should direct a now serious horror movie to end his career, that would me awesome❤

@@ObjectiveObservershort-man What's funny is that GTA, let's say Vice city, is kinda mashup of several similar projects (Scarface, Carlito's way, etc) with various references to pop culture/setting/age/etc. Which is somewhat similar to what Quentin is doing in his films. So in many ways it seems like a good marriage
I'd like a Vega brothers movie still, even if John Travolta and Michael Madsen are older.

@BoyNamedSue4
24 күн бұрын
@@thundercron77 him being concerned about losing his creative spark is not silly. His grand statement of “I’m stopping at ten so I never make a bad movie” is. Because let’s be honest, a person could make the argument that he already made a bad film when the Hateful Eight came out. Yeah, pretty film, but the script is subpar and feels like someone trying to ape his style vs something actually written by him.
He said in person in London he’s actually written a full series already ready to go but won’t do it till his last movie is done
Couldn't agree more he looked as this &said "this can't be my swan song" but I bet in the next 12 years this movie will be released, hopefully by Tarantino but maybe with Robert Rodriquez or one of his boyz/Roth in the directors chair, cuz there's clearly something there. And Tarantino exits film the way he came in as a great writer. His last film doesn't need Kill Bill vol. 1 violence but for sure Pulp Fiction levels cuz if he hits this out of the park he could become even more iconic than he already is
I'd like to see his take on the sci-fi genre or monster movie. I love his movies but it'd be fun if he did a movie none of us expected
What’s with the black around the video?

They’re moving out of the studio into the garage. Don’t ask me why because I won’t answer.
This is great news… “The movie critic“ sounded like a terrible idea. So let’s hope he goes out with something better. I also think he’s not at the height of his powers… His first two or three movies were much better than what he’s doing now. So it’s good that he’s being reflective and wanting to make something different. Wouldn’t it be fun if he made a horror movie… I don’t mean some stupid monster movie I’m talking about his “shining” or “Rosemary’s baby“ intellectually viable. But the news that he’s not making the movie critic is just great. And you are right, he may retire for several years, but he will have a comeback. He’s too much of an ego not to.
why is john moving to. is he going to a new studio
I was hoping John covered the recent Forbes article about Star Wars’ profitability… it’s kinda crazy
I’m honestly glad because i was 100% disinterested in the movie critic. I’m a huge Tarantino fan but like Rob said i think even for me it just sounded too niche and kind of boring. I want another badass action movie from Tarantino, Kill Bill Vol. 3 preferably but if not something along those lines.
Do not be surprised if this film is totally strapped and a Kill Bill vol.3 or something like that from him is officialized and green lit for production randomly.
His final film will connect all his films. We'll see an old Cliff Booth cross paths with young versions of the Vega brothers. Stuntman MIke, etc.
I agree with Burnett. I am happy with his decision.
I feel the same, Tarantino does not and will not let us down. He's a one of a kind Story Teller. 😎
After his 10th film hope he keeps going as a director
I was interested in seeing it, I think Paul Walter Hauser could have done something great in a Tarantino film. Hopefully he's in whatever Tarantino decides to do. I think if he wasn't gonna be in early retirement after this he would have done this
Tarantino's final film should be a horror flick. Excellent way to end out on a bang and with mysterious energy.
You know what this means right ? He had to submit the script to the studios before shooting and they didn’t deliver the budget he wanted for the movie because I’m thinking truth be told as someone who went to the theaters when his last film came out. I don’t think Sony pictures recouped on ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood’. Nor do Sony anticipate this new film based on the script would do the same. So he’s either going to strap it or try to make revisions in the manuscript for the budget so he can begin shooting.
Fuck...these are sad news...He's my all time favorite director and I was super excited for this film. I'd like to know why he cancelled it. Well at least I hope it's all for the better, I wish him all the best and I'm certain he's gonna come up with something amazing. Also I'm very looking forward to his tv series.
He wants to end his career on a high note so, if we don't go see it on the movie theater and wait for it to be on VoD he'd be forced to do another one.

Want a Tarantino scifi movie, maybe with nods to old scifi b flicks. Think his style could work with that. He said he was going to novels and work on tv show after the final movie…. We’ll see. I think Robert is right.
I think this was a good call, obviously we never had a clear cut answer to what this movie was gonna be about but from the little bits we’ve heard here and there to me it just didn’t sound like Quentin Tarantino, it sounded like a movie that was only gonna appeal to a very niche audience of film buffs rather than everyone like his previous movies, and I think he finally realized that and decided that he wanted to go out with something a lot more grand, which I think is a much better move for him, what his actual 10th movie will be I have no idea, but I think it’s gonna be something a lot more big and exciting compared to what this movie was probably gonna be
I mean he never said he was gonna stop writing films - just directing them
I’m glad he’s not doing this movie, it seemed lukewarm to me. QT hasn’t tried science fiction yet, I would love to see him do an epic. I know the clock is ticking but Clint Eastwood would be phenomenal, maybe Meryl Streep and someone younger he hasn’t cast yet like Emma Stone, maybe Benicio Del Torro.
I hope 'The Movie Critic' is released as a novel. If its anything similar to 'Once Upon A Time In Hollywood' it'll be so much better as a novelisation

I think he made the right choice for him. I also believe this movie would of have been able to compare/contrast Kael and Margolds work. I can only guess that it would mainly be about Margolds work and a 1977 movie action drama both were reviewing. It would of been a movie within a movie and some Taxi Driver or even B movie wouldve been shown whilst those two were at odds with each othhers contrasting styles, a love of QT past and Hollywood's movie height...again his use of Tate's character in his last movie, she was unrelated to Pitt/ DeCaprio's story. Just my thoughts...this would be a personal soulful way to say goodbye unfortunately he might be looking for a Pulp Fiction 2...too hard to achieve. Screw fans...go with your artistic eye...
I would like to see a 3 hour reservoir dogs with the same actors that are alive, Sam Jackson with a slightly different story,and more back stories for the characters and different ending.
