Elsewhere, there's a little clip of their translator (who probably taught him the song) helping him with the melody and pronunciation while Mary Austin looks on. I love that he went to the translator and asked "what's a song everyone knows? Teach it to me."

Musicians tend to pronounce foreign languages very well because of their great listening ability to mimic sounds

How nice of him and how much he respects his audience to sing them a song in their own language. I have never seen this from an A-category star. He was the greatest artist! Rest in peace.

First time Queen did that was with Teo Torriatte, they loved their Japanese fans so much that they wrote a song for them.

Even rehearsing he sounds incredible. He took the song so seriously for the Hungarian people, it had to be perfect. Such a beautiful gift to give then, such a lovely song.

He could have sung the phone book, and it would have sounded stunning.

Wonderful Freddie, I love him. That amazing voice, so serious about music and yet so playful. How could you not love him? Oh, and I forgot to mention how beautiful he is. Lucky Hungarian people to have their folk song sung by him.

I was in Hungary in 1979 & Freddie singing in Hungarian is so gorgeous. Freddie was about showing respect and kindness to people. At Live Aid he referred to the audience as 'my beauties.' He wasn't sucking up to the audience at all - other people engage in manipulative behaviour just to get whatever they want. Whenever you listen to him being interviewed he is charming and respectful. He really was a sensitive soul but he had the meaning of rapport down to a fine art.

He never referred to the Live Aid audience as "My beauties." He wasn't "charming and respectful" in all interviews either. He sometimes just sat there, and let the others deal with it.

The only time he spoke to the crowd was before Crazy Little Thing Called Love, where he referred to them as "beautiful people" and thanked them for coming along. So get your facts right, ignoramus 🤡

Incredible, today we sing this song at the Central Offcial Language School in Madrid. We have been practicing and seen several versions, but Freddy was out of this world, He gave it it's original medieval flavour. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Even just as a rehearsal - 0:42 wow, you can see how passionate he gets. Like he just instantly falls in love with the song. I feel that they could have recorded a studio version with a few string/brass instruments plus having an opera singer along with Freddie's magnificent voice (think 'Barcelona' just toned down a lot. This song doesn't sound like it needs to be grandiose).

Having appreciated this gesture by many, I think his devotion is still underrated. The way he pronounces Hungarian words after a few hours of acquintance with the language...distinguishing vowels like a from á - lots of people living in Hungary for years or even decades are simply unable to do that.

It's all the rest, Bulgarian,Romanian,Polish and all the Islamic States and other eastern countries we don't want. They are aggressive . Hungarians in some kind a way are always friendly. no puedo creer lo espectacular que era Freddie. La naturalidad con la que cantaba. Escucharlo con esa facilidad. Mientras jugaba cantaba melodías imposibles. La verdad admirable. Lo que hubiera dado por nacer antes, este señor se merece la eternidad. Ojalá algún día se descubra la fórmula para volver a la vida y vuelva Freddie, aunque es imposible. No puedo creerlo. Lo que daría por conocerlo y presenciar un show como el de wembley. Que injusta es la vida. Demasiado talento y una vida tan corta. Que artista más completo. Lo que nos dejó! Nos dejó hasta sus últimos momentos de vida para que disfrutemos de su hermosa voz. Sólo quiero creer que si hay otra vida el esté ahí, así también ahí poder darme el placer de escucharlo.
