With bass being the driving force behind most bands, his part was essential to the success of Queen. Sadly, he is often "overlooked" when discussing the great bass players. He is easily in my top five. He has inspired many to pick up a bass and learn it.

This might be irrelevant to bass but this song has a lot of moments like that. My favorite one is the cut-off play in 0:41 when they sing the word "laser beam". That is genius imo.

​@@rault.f9480I know this is a year old post but I agree with you as far as Geddy but I don't think Entwistle is better than Deacon. Admittedly I don't know the entire discography for The Who but compare a song like this that has walking bass lines and nice fills to a song like "who are you" that, apart from some slidey things at the beginning is basically 2 notes over and over. "My generation" and "the seeker" are two more that are pretty repetitive, he just moves the same riff to various positions.

He probably still plays bass since his son Luke plays bass as well. But obv he doesn't play bass with Queen anymore.

That is a ridiculous comment and completely wrong for so many reasons. Roger didn't play bass on on any recording until NOTW. They also recorded live backing tracks for most of their recording career, so when you listen to the isolated bass you can hear the drums and some piano. Why would you say such nonsense?
