I was doing bird in a Glasgow jail the day it was announced Freddy passed. You should have heard the collective "No" from pretty much all in the dining hall. Over 200 cons saddened at the passing of Freddie. I'll never foget that moment. Freddie was more than a singer, he was a gift to life.

Pretty sure this was filmed in NE Pennsylvania. That locomotive definitely came out of the PRR shops outside of Pittsburgh. The Belpair firebox is a dead giveaway there. There is a rail museum up near Scranton that uses an identical engine and the clean exhaust is because they use anthracite hard coal. Perfect for this video.

Yes. His face was a bit gaunt and his hair was thinning. But he looked great anyway and look at all of the energy he put into the performance and "stunts" -- which is basically the entire video as they performed on an open platform aboard a speeding train! Wow!

Uncreative Name I know this is like so bad that it’s ridiculously awesome! And a good way to keep the camera moving around. Freddie really gave it his all here, trying to show us he’s okay. That happens with any kind of illness. My health took a nose dive and I kept trying to continue to work as hard as I always did. Gosh I miss Freddie! You gave and continue to give me such inspiration, thank you😘dahling.

Happy 35th birthday to 'The Miracle' album!!!! (05/22/24) I was nineteen when the album was released in the US and I can remember listening to the cassette while driving through the Texas country-side with the top down of my 1980 MGB. "I Want it All" with that awesome Heavy Metal-esque solo is what first captured my attention, but I thought the entire album was fantastic. All these years later, I think "Breakthru" is it's finest moment.

Awww...the way John smiles at Freddie at 2:18. He looks at Freddie alot like this in other videos and concert clips. I'm not meaning this in some silly Deacury way either. It's just you can tell that John was not only amused by Freddie, but also respected and loved him like a brother.

From what I read John did truly love and respect Freddie - maybe that is why he took Freddie's death so hard. They were good friends ..and you are right - the respect showed. When you look at the video The Good Die Young - John is so very sad. The whole thing is just so sad.

@PensiveCzar I think he lost the passion to play after Freddie's death. He wrote wonderful songs with Freddie so I strongly believe he would be in the band even today writing new songs.

A great bassplayer must have an idea of what he's providing for the band. JD is probably the most versatile player of all time. He delivered only great bass tracks and Freddie knew that. He considered him as Queens secret weapon. Elton John said Deacon is his fav player, unfortunately he's in Queen. JD was just amazing!

The bass played throughout the song is performed on a synth through an arppegiator and not played by John. There is some real bass in the song around the 2 min mark and nearer the end which is pretty cool though.

My absolute favorite song from Queen! So much energy. A timeless masterpiece! I would give my left nut to travel back in time and witness them live. Pretty jealous on my dad who saw them live 🥰 Crazy how much energy Freddy had and only two years later he passed away.

I just love at 2:09 how Freddie says “Your smile speaks books to me” and looks at Brian and both smile at each other. It’s really adorable.

I think people can be a bit self-centred when talking about death. Read through comments about Queen videos and you inevitably read people saying how 'sad' it was that Freddie died, and how sad it is to see him having so much fun when inside he knew he was dying.. This video has a lesson for all of us. The one person who wasn't at all sad was Freddie. Here he is, doing what he loves more than anything, and having an absolute blast. His death may have been sad to us, but the most important person in Freddie's death was Freddie, and Freddie sure doesn't look sad in this video. He's living his life to the full.

He had way better vocals in his early 70's songs, his young voice was really good tho, in the 80's he started to smoke and didn't had a really good voice past 90's since the aids were hitting him and he had to take more care of it.

My husband and I met when we were 12. We were best friends. He moved to KY when we were about 14,15. Every night he'd call the local radio station and and dedicate this song to me. I waited up every night just to hear it. I never knew it was him. I'd always hear them say it was for me though. Fast forward 25yrs later we're married and he tells me all those years ago it was him. Guess that makes this our song.😍😍

John is great, and definitely underrated. But there are many better Bass players out there.

I love the way Freddie makes Brian smile when he sings "your smile speaks books to me". And Deaky's face through the whole video is pure happiness. Great song and fun, lovely video.

Particularly love this song, as I love Queen, and I also love trains, so this was almost the perfect video for me. It could have done without the eye-candy though. The girl was unnecessary IMHO.
