Can you hear me crying?
Despite this being a rough take. I now see why Freddie choice to do backing vocals for this. Brian had more emotion due to his extremely soft voice and at times he is ready to scream out his frustration about the futility of living while Freddie was really good on lead vocals but again this experience never happened to him so it was hard for Freddie to match Brian's emotions.

Agreed. Freddie's voice is way too stiff.

I said it was a rough take. All I said how both Brian and Freddie sang the song differently and how much I preferred Brian's singing over Freddie's and why Freddie did backing vocals.
I love the slightly higher notes on "all the dreEEAams we had", lovely!!

Thanks for the upload!! Completely forgot it was on Radio 2 earlier.
freddies voice is so pretty in this
Wow! I think Brian is definitely better for softer songs like this, but Freddie is great in this version. Very interesting to hear.
THANKS !!!

sad fella hours
Now I see why Brian didn't sing those first lines... Lovely interpretation, anyways.
Strange in a good way
Super! If Freddie had sung the original version we all know....we would be no wiser to how Brian would have sung it!? 😯 how many more songs could they have BM vocals on! Still i prefer Freds vocals on most as Brian can be boring lol
Sounds gothic, like Freddie’s a vampire 🦇
Ideally they would have kept Freddie's intro and then went into Brian singing the rest.
I prefer the original version. But this is great.

True this version is weird but awesome, I was waiting for this for a long time. Can’t wait for the full release of the album on November.

I know it's Freddie's voice, I love it, but it sounds different. Why?
@SimonChristensen

Because it's a rough mix

In rough mixes they aren't doing much mixing to the voices short of actually adding them to the track. In the finished versions, theres always some kind of touch up with effects added to the vocal track to make it sound less 'raw'.

Because he was a younger man back then, the earlier albums where very glitter rock compared with the rest.

the key is a bit low for him (IIRC this is in D minor, so there's a bit more vibrato in his voice). Would have been interesting to hear it transposed three, four half notes up. Same thing happens more or less in "Save Me", in the bridge part "The years of care and loyalty" :)
Freddie's voice is way too stiff. It obviously was never meant for release. It's just a rehearsal. If it was recorded properly and finished it might have been great but Brian's voice suits this song better. Barrel scraping to be honest.
