Quality over quantity? WHEN and HOW to Focus Bracket.
Handheld Focus Bracketing with the Canon R5 - Improve your photography
During this video I experiment with the Canon R5 focus bracketing feature in woodland photography. I then edit and focus stack these images in Lightroom and Photoshop to show you the unbeatable difference focus bracketing has on the quality of your photography, it really is a game changer and will improve the quality and detail of your photography. I have found focusing on one point in my Landscape Photography is just not enough when shooting scenes such as Woodlands, if you time the conditions right and wait for a still day you can focus bracket Woodland scenes handheld or with a tripod. I'm doing it handheld with the Canon R5 however some of the other mirrorless cameras will have this feature. I am going back over the basics and learning a lot of new photography techniques. I am doing this to improve my image quality and overall photography knowledge as I have had a break for a while and de-skilled over time. I hope you find some of the tips and tricks I use helpful in your own work.
Also thrown in is a bit of foraging, I make a forest tea and a blackberry flapjack with my foraged items. This was the perfect fuel for editing up the image in Photoshop at the end of a long hard day shooting in the forest. Don't forget to practice some mindfulness and respect the locations you visit, forage sustainably and leave no trace. I totally believe Landscape Photography is a give and take relationship, and this reflects on your creative mind and photography.

Very enjoyable viewing Suzannah, love the relaxed, peaceful pace of your videos. I think we all occasionally tire of carrying bags of gear and a tripod around, especially so when we reasonable shots been captured with iphones etc. Recently I've been cranking the iso up to allow for better handheld shots, it works and worth experimenting with. Best flapjacks...super bump 🙏🏻

Cheers Ellie, it's such a great place to reset. It's super tasty, especially when it's fresh and hot out of the oven. Will be pacing lots of these in the freezer over the coming months!

Such a nice video! I did cringe a little bit when I saw you step over that log! You don't need to be falling out there in the woods especially if you're by yourself! The photos look absolutely stunning on your calendar and the photo that you took in this video also look wonderful! Please take care until we get to see you again!

I cringed a little too as it was rather challenging walking over that log! Made it look easy 👊 Luckily this section of woodland is 30 seconds from the car, definitely wouldn't be able to go too far into the forest currently but managing to make it work, thanks for stopping by and I'm glad you like the photos. Next video in process, providing I don't have a baby this week 😅
