@Kanyewestbiggestfan123 The same reason there's a bunch of hivemind comments even on his other videos, people tend to listen to/watch multiple channels in a genre, such as comedy related music channels in this case. Brad, Hivemind, Quadeca, and Fantano all have a bunch of crossover as well, seeing as they have all collabbed at some point.

This is obviously a lukewarm take but i can’t imagine the pressure artists feel to constantly be one-upping their previous projects, especially amazing ones. I feel this more applies to rising artists because sometimes a change in style can be viewed as a decline in progress. On the other hand, if they were to release an equally strong project of the same style, they would be criticized too. Basically what I’m trying to say is that having a “failure” publicly seems horrible, but even worse when the public decides what said failure is.

Completely agreed, i had the same worries for Quadeca after his last album. However, he's proven that he's more than capable of growing in amazing ways, even with all of the new genre changes.

Sounds like absolute crap. I am utterly baffled. No offense but how old is everyone here? Maybe I am in the wrong part of the internet and need to go somewhere else more bitter and jaded or something, maybe you guys are just super open minded and I'm not but to me this is like... Kinda similar to how Unkle Adams voice is not a listenable voice for music. Not that they have a similar voice inherently, but it is similarly "white guy that doesn't sound like they should be rapping, rapping." As in no beat or editing can make it enjoyable to listen to, it's just not good to hear on music. And the production to me just sounds like lofi crud? Maybe Quadeca has a loyal fanbase that just supports him like family or something rather than based on a nuanced taste for good music. Kinda like how Kanye's cult just says everything he makes is "phenomenal." Maybe too many young white fans lacking a nuanced taste or something crowding up criticism on this. Like as in there are no non-white 14+ year olds here critiquing it, so the reception is overwhelmingly positive. Very confused.

To be clear, if you need some sort of "objective" verification on the merit of this project, feel free to seek out any music critic publication and I would wager to guess they rated the album similarly (though I suppose I could be wrong). Objective good and bad is really missing the point of what makes art worthwhile though, so I'll articulate for you in my mind why this project is receiving deserved praise. First of all, to me the most important factors in evaluating the merit of art are 1. uniqueness / progressive elements 2. Impact on culture 3. execution. In all three of those (admittedly arbitrary) categories, this project excels. It blends together elements of many genres (shoegaze, electronic, indie, rock, and several elements of modern rap). More than just blending the genres though, he cultivated a sound that feels uniquely him. For the other two, it is an incredibly well executed project in that the production is innovative, the vocal performances are intimate and varied, and it is easily the most interesting project that dips its toes in modern rap that is worth listening to and will be worth revisiting.

"WAY TOO MANY FRIENDS" isn't about wanting to cut people off, it's about wanting to keep all the people who you care about close while not being able to

UTTTWUH is so Xiu Xiu influenced and I’m glad Brad noticed

I remember finding quad during his beef with KSI. From that moment you could tell he was different. He released From Me To You and it was a good step from voice memos. You could tell he was exploring, then came IDMTHY and he wasn’t just exploring anymore he was there and it was good. The progress from VM to FMTY then to IDMTHY is crazy. And with Scrapyard it’s like the culmination of what he was working towards. When I Forster listened to it, it’s felt off but then I stuck with it and it was growing on me a lot. To now where some of my favorite songs of his are in scrapyard. Watching him progress from the KZread scene and finding his own voice rather than just rapping fast was nice. It’s like a proud dad moment.
