When I first read about the vibration dampener i thought "This is just for the people who do off-road and that stuff" untill I read that the optical system of your phone may get damaged from the vibration of the motorbike. Tuned it to find out what mount you used since the quad lock handlebar mount doesn’t work on the DRZ with stock bars and you glossed right over that part!!!

QuadLock is truly the best. Been using my setup for almost 2 years now on my V85TT. (Great video Dork)

I absolutely LOVE my quad lock system! I will not put any other mount on my bikes. Great video discussing the system!

Definitely getting a Quad Lock soon... my old iPhone's camera died and I didn't know why until I found out that my Rokform didn't have any vibration dampening

I was also concerned about not having a fuse, but this I found on their website”The USB charger has an inbuilt self-healing Polyfuse and Surge Protection. It also has Polarity Protection which prevents damage to the charger if wired up incorrectly.”

It's pretty slick

I've had the Quad Lock system for a few years on my 2012 Goldwing. I bought the wired charger with it (this was before they came out with the wireless charger). For the first week it was great, but then it couldn't seem to keep up for some reason. I reached out to Quad Lock, and they sent me a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement didn't fair much better. For the first few weeks it charged my phone just fine, but then for some reason it couldn't keep up, even with my screen turned off. Hopefully yours faired better. I just replaced the charger out with the wireless charger last weekend. Other than a quick test to make sure it worked, I haven't had a chance to take it out on the road yet. Hopefully it fairs better than the wired version for me.

So you used the USB power module, instead of the weatherproof wireless charger ? That's prob my problem on my Tiger Rally Pro......that and the too thin or too thick handlebars having all kinds of issues mounting my quadlock/antivibration/weatherproof wirelss. Perhaps I just need that USB power one like you're using.....

It went together easily in less than an hour. kzread.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

What size Ram Mount double socket arm are you using large or medium for your drz400s?

When i try to put vibration dampener and screw the last part on, all the rubbers from vibration dampener come out, i put them back in but something continues to push them out and idk how to fix it 😭

I love the concept of the quad lock. I just don't like that it is tied to a specific case for specific phones. I wish they had a universal attachment that I could just stick on any phone. I'm an avid off roader (currently on a YZ250F) and looking for a good mount for a Phone based GPS.

In my opinion, Quadlock really messed up by not having the cable hard wire into the unit. The plug option is just another annoying place that can rattle loose. I would get one if this wasn't the case!

Isn't there a power button on the wired version?

I mountain bike.. do you think this setup would work for short videos? Do you notice a difference on video stability? I’m never tried any quad lock.

Is there two ways to charge phone on the mount?

I like the concept and ordered the case and RAM mount! We tried the wired charger like you have on the Grom and the charger died shortly after. Interested to hear how it works for you before I spend a bunch on the wireless charger and vibration dampener.

How bad was the vibration on the Versys 650?

I’ve had to replace my iPhone 12 twice within two months because of the vibrations, so while I am mildly desperate to find a solution as I love being able to easily see my phone for navigation, I’m also super paranoid now.

This is a big reason I returned the RokForm kit I had purchased before ever using it. That said, I've been using the QuadLock system for a few months now, and zero issues with my 12 Pro Max.

But your phone is waterproof already. I consider the charger but thinks its very big. What are your toughts?

Am I missing something? If you have the usb port so close, couldn’t you just charge your phone from there instead of buying the quad lock charger?

My S21 is supposedly waterproof too but I've had enough trouble with wet charging ports on phones in the past so I don't mess around with water where I can avoid it

Fair enough. The old tough phones were truly waterproof. There's some still but you need a trailer to haul them around.

Might be a stupid question, but can the quadlock hold the phone in landscape position? I only ever see it in portrait orientation

Yes. You just put it in sideways.

My ball mount and the dampener is not sturdy i can even rotate the phone 360 degrees, why?

I just ordered a Quad Lock set up and waiting for it to arrive. What I don't get at all is the charging wire set up. If you have a charging unit already on the bike, you can simply run the wire up to the phone when mounted. Why plug a wire to the phone mount when you can just run it to your phone? Pretty weird lol

Saves time + is weatherproof...although if it's raining I don't usually have my phone on the bars anyway. Passive vs active charging, I guess. It's super convenient but not necessary, for sure.

Pretty nifty not having to connect the phone to a cable.

I feel totally dumb as I’m having the hardest time taking it off the wireless charger. What’s the trick?… on the other ones it’s a tab. Easy. But on the wireless there’s no tab and I always end up having to do some finger origami with both hands to finally get it off.

The dampener will help if you have a good suspension, on my Goldwing and Supertenere I have no problems but my son and I have ruin our cameras on our Gsxs1000 and 750, because of the sportier ride, 2 of my sons friends have screwed up the stabilizer on their phones on a ninja 650 and mt09 so on sport bikes on our shitty roads in Quebec it does not protect the phone enough, smooth riding bikes should be fine

@@bdawson21 Wireless charging should go on top of the dampener but the USB charger should be beneath the dampener. I think that is what he meant.

That not true about rain poncho. It's gets water behind. I already damage one phone. Just put it in your pocket if it's raining

Whatever happened to planning and knowing ahead of time where you were going before leaving to drive somewhere? Geez. What happened to doing anything without a phone? Can't wait for the toilet mount to launch. That way I can watch Game of Thrones whilst on my bathroom throne downloading some "defecatory data." Or the new silverware app so I can eat with my phone. Turn off the phone. Enjoy the ride and the view it provides. Got 32 cents of my 2 cents worth. I feel better now.

Quad Lock Vibration Dampener does not work. Don’t waste your money. To see what happens to an iPhone 8 after one season on a Quad Lock Vibration Dampener check out the video on my page. This phone was mounted on a Tenere 700 - not a high vibration motorcycle. Fortunately, I only use this phone as a dedicated GPS. I won't be mounting my iPhone 12 to it - ever.
