Qigong for the Wood Element: Nourishing Practices for Body, Mind and Spirit
This is a 17 minute qigong practice designed around the Wood element in Chinese medicine and qigong. It focuses on forms that create stability and root to support upward growth and rise. It was filmed in my back garden on a sunny, psrping day. These and other Wood-themed practices are included in my book, Qigong and the Tai Chi Axis, which is available on Amazon smarturl.it/QigongAndTaiChiAxis . Hope you enjoy it!

🙄I'll be honest. I've had this in my playlist forever and never got around to it🥺... but TONIGHT I was just in the right mood🤪and decided to try it😒. Well sir😀...let me just say...MIND BLOWN😆. The whole thing...the movements...your gorgeous explanations...the serenity of your voice😊...the beautiful locale. By the end of it I felt so blessed by your offering🤗. I know this post is three years old but I just HAD to say something. My body thanks you😊. My spirit thanks you🤗.

Oh, Mimi, what a lovely session! This morning, when my mind was groggy and my body knotted and tired, those slow movements, so well inspired and explained, did me a world of good and, not often the case, I could feel in harmony with the practice. My back loosened up, my pelvis too, and above all my ribcage (compressed by a night of apneas) was freed. After this class, I feel so good and at peace that I wanted to express it now. I think I could really feel the Qi flowing through my body and head. Thank you so much for this beautiful class. JJ

I love your work. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your Qigong with us.
So excited to see another beautiful qi gong video from you, thank you so much for sharing. Hope there are more to come!
i'm using these videos along with your book, just starting out, so i'm giving myself about a week to learn each element. After the deer frolics, i feel a little sweaty and tingly all over and it makes me feel very aware of the air around me, like there's an invisible part of me that surrounds me.
Thank you Mimi for sharing more gentle, free flowing, meditative expressions. My yoga groups and I are loving the new movements. ~
I love the gentleness in your approach to movement and the tidbits of theory sprinkled in. Thanks for making more videos:)
What a delightful routine! I am of Wood element with fibromyalgia, spinal and joint arthritis and degenerative disease of the spine and joints. Several spinal discs have already dissolved and my thoracic and cervical spine have straightened out of their natural curves. I’m going to use this practice to help loosen me up and strengthen what I still have. I was very active before my health turned and try more gentle practices now that don’t cause more pain. So thank you for making this so much fun. Namaste 🙏🏽

Mimi, I love your teaching on Ren, and cultivating Ren, and that you teach with so much Ren! I learned that word “Ren” from you today. I’m really glad to hear explicit teaching of nourishing such positive qualities in practice. I’ve chosen, myself, to practice with smiling and inclination to joy, even before I found your vids - but it was getting harder until I found your videos where you embody and share a kind of delight in being. Even when practicing alone, I think cultivating joy and peace in practice puts us in a more happily relational state, more identified with and enjoying others, and feeling more “with” others, less separate. I’m so glad to have found your videos, overtly and totally sharing from these positive qualities, and demonstrating clear permission to align with joy in practice. It is truly a joy to practice with you.

I alternate doing your seasonal practice and the Silk Brocades practice before work on a daily basis and, on the last day of Spring, as I was raising my hands for "Gathering Peaceful Qi", a flock of green parrots flew into the Primavera tree in front of which I do my qigong. I stayed like that a while, enjoying their raucous chatter and cultivating Ren, then, as I lowered my hands they flew away. i felt blessed by Nature and so blessed to have found your videos. I very much appreciate that you repeat the instructions for the movements and also include the medical and the spiritual/emotional benefits. Very complete tutorials. Thank you!

Besides supporting the rigging of my ship, I do appreciate your explanations which give a deeper understanding of the exercises such as the downward rooting and simultaneously upward reaching of the wood element, and the loving kindness with which you imbue each class which gives me a lightness of being.
