As a brazilian, beer drinker, I worked on the FIFA soccer games in 2014. FIFA got their way on passing several laws to allow alcohool in the brazilian stadiums. In Brazil we have several brawls in the stadiums after the games, so brazilian law makers used to think less alcohool less violence.

Don’t say it’s ok and let everyone spend millions of dollars to plan accordingly only to make a last minute announcement saying nahhh, we’ve changed our minds. They had no intention on letting them sell alcohol and they should have led with that instead of lying to get what they wanted. And to be clear, you don’t have to deal with rainbow flags. Go the other way or do something else instead of “dealing with them”. 😂 They’re just as easy to ignore as the call to prayer was when I was in Kosovo. I think you're over estimating how much the average western tourist brings to an economy, from my time in the Middle East and visiting Qatar, I can see that they're focused on taking more of a diplomacy role in the region, they have military bases there from multiple major nations, they've become one a world leader on interstate dispute resolution, and they have a strong focus on education and a juggernaut aviation sector. They want to build a place that is all about people coming to raise healthy families with good education and companies, rather than attracting short term tourism like Dubai.

Im sorry but this whole conversation is about how there aren't booze in Qatar, i'm from here and i've been drinking since i was in high school as a Qatari girl. Foreigners can buy booze from a shop called QDC, however you need a licences to be able to enter this shop which they don't give to Qataris, but its super easy to just ask a friend to get you ten crates of beers if thats what you want. Secondly majority of people drink here we have basically the same rules as Dubai, but they only sell them in hotels which the majority of restaurants, bars and clubs are. So i know this is all for content but at least get the facts right. They did'nt want alcohol in the stadiums cause they're probably worried about controlling fans if they get super drunk which is normal for football stadiums

They are but Qatar is not a desirable place to live based off of religion and climate. It's why more Western tech still gets most of the workforce and why companies set up base. There's no worry about safety or concern or of any future collapse. Lots of these Arab countries are dominated by the few with lots of restrictions and some of their values immediately clash with Western values, mindsets, etc. DOHA is also expensive compared to most Western places and like Schulz said, more entertainment is still majority in the West. It's hot, far away, lack of affordability, religious restrictions, etc make it not as desirable. If they ease up on a lot of these things people will move but there's a reason its population is still so small and why most expats there are only rich and not typical middle class tech workers etc.

You can drink in the stadiums if you pay a ~20k fee, and it's restricted to the luxury boxes.
WELL, THIS EPOSIDE DIDN'T AGE WELL. QATAR WORLD CUP IS FIRE ❤🔥❤🔥
lmao its not banned + no alcohol allowed in stadiums in spain too 🤣🤣
Great content, Great context.. always consistent but let's be fair any professional football player would rather win the WORLD CUP vs the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
@Mehh09222

Also the KO stages in the champions league are always starting in February. It's a bigger deal in domestic leagues, especially in England. English people love the Premier League more than any competition. But if you don't have the best league in the world, you don't care about the timing of the world cup, you'll always preferring to watch the World Cup than your shitty league.
I was just at the US vs. England game - they are absolutely selling booze in the stadiums. Budweiser, liquor, wine, the whole bar.
Andrew needs to be hired by Qatar's tourism industry with these ideas loool

A lot of Pakistanis drink. They just won’t admit openly.
Qatar is entitled to ban alcohol in stadiums, as its legally available outside of the stadiums (for context in many countries alcohol is not allowed in stadiums, due to the fact that such stadiums are host of fierce sporting rivalries, and law & order situation ranging from assault to rioting may emerge ) . FIFA is liable to be held accountable for holding the world cup in Qatar. Although both have sufficient money to buy Budweiser the company (whatever the name of the conglomerate that holds it, is), leave the 75 million

They cannot legally buy alcohol outside the stadium, that’s why the sponsorship was a big deal. A deal is a deal, unless you are dealing with immoral oil tyrants. Qatar is built on the backs of modern slavery, they have no moral high ground.

There are no alcohol promotions in F1 in all Arab countries no iconic Champaign on the podium. Alcohol is not getting a good reputation these days and there is moral grounds for not supporting advertisements, specially after that bill gates study that shows that it damages brain cells even in small amounts and there is no be if it consuming it. But by all means do whatever makes you happy!

It’s great seeing this retroactively because everyone agrees the Qatar WC was absolutely crazy and just amazing to watch.
Akaash on that Neeps jokes… lmao
guys, one BIG FACT IS MISSING, they only banned alcohol IN THE STADIUM, not all over the country
7:06 “culture-less, and a bunch of buildings” bro I’m so disappointed in Andrew. I been such a fan for a long time. I know for sure that if I were to ask you anything about our culture that u say is ‘culture-less’ you wouldn’t know a damn thing. Our culture is amazing, we have separate lines for women, we make sure women are treated with upmost respect. They have the priority with any queues, waiting lists etc. I could sit here for hours talking about why our culture is amazing. If you see this, I hope you remember this comment forever. We do not need ‘western fun’ to get eyes on Qatar. The whole world doesn’t revolve around the west my friend. We are just fine without ya’ll. Truly hurt here Andrew.
The oil isn't running out though, and it doesn't come from dinosaurs. Waiting for them to run out of oil is a fool's errand
18:33 lets take this out of context 😂😂

Honestly Qatar is goated. Laws and everything
I disagree with a lot of points in this video: Even in France, alcohol is banned in stadiums. You talk about players being part of the national team through naturalization, take the French team for instance, none of them are truly French. Qatar is already relevant, the entire Afghanistan fiasco was mediated by Qatar. The amount of pull Qatar has in the middle east is underrated by most people. Qatar could have been dubai waaay back itself, but they didn't cuz Qatar has Oil money where as dubai doesn't. Dubai is not rich, Abu Dhabi is.

Qatar also built an education city. It contains a lot of universities, schools and a big library.
Serious note, Akaash was going through it. Can’t tell if its personal issues/disassociated or pissed at someone in group for whatever reason. Body language/micro expressions say more than words ever could. There was a whole lot of tension, avoiding eye contact, seeming disinterested, not knowing what to do with his hands & constantly shifting/repositioning himself, without being able to find comfort. & had nothing to do with the topic. Gave 2 fake laughs the entire clip. & never knew his voice could be that low/deep. Normally wouldn’t read into it too much. However compared to his usual demeanor/personality, this is SCREAMING silently…. I was hardly able to listen to what they were saying cause it was nearly impossible to not feel. Wishing him love & peace
