    With the question of best time of the year to enlist: if you have done all your research and know exactly what MOS you want, October 1st is actually the best day of the year to enlist. I say this from experience because I wanted to be a 25B but got to the MEPS in May and all the slots were filled. It was either another 5 months at Walmart or a different MOS. I ended up with 25N which I was actually pretty good at, so the lack of slots worked out in my favor, but if you are dead set on a very specific MOS: Go in October.

  • @sfcdimsdale6659

    @sfcdimsdale6659

    5 жыл бұрын

    Incorrect. The training seats for MOSs are scheduled year round. If you were trying to get a mos in may you were competing for slots with all of the seniors graduating high school. Everyday new training seats are loaded into the system

  • @seancondon5572

    @@sfcdimsdale6659 not back in 2009, Sergeant. MEPS literally told me they had no 25B slots open for the rest of the fiscal year. Now it's possible the way it works may have changed in the last 9 years, but I'm telling you about my experience. My key takeaway though is that I got the job I needed.

  • @sfcdimsdale6659

    @sfcdimsdale6659

    @@seancondon5572 yeah that is what is important. What I was saying happened to you is that the seniors took the rest of the training seats for the year because they can only go in the summer. So I guess in that sense..summer can be a bad time depending on the MOS

    Lol sooo I shipped sept 11. Fort Jackson 89b ammunition specialist. Went through 3 weeks of basic and my DS’s decided to screw me tf over and send me to FTC (fitness training company) where we were promised to do PT 2 or 3 times a day with extra workouts and whatnot. So the way it works you are allowed to leave FTC once you meet a tread line... the first 2 weeks there we didn’t do anything except eat and sleep. So for the first 2 pt test we had no help at all.. so the started doing PT toward the end of our last week. I was 27 seconds off my run time they didn’t give a f************** and sent me home with an uncharacteristized discharge and chapter 11 failing PT. So I have to wait 6 months and go back. WORKOUT BEFORE YOU GO I did work out I guess just not enough

    I know this was awhile ago but I graduated from Fort Jackson a few months ago. Yes you must pass the last PT test. They have markers throughout the course of training as to where you should be. For examples females had to do at least 1 push-up for our 2nd pt test or they risked getting sent to FTC. Those markers only applied to active duty personnel. Everyone in the reserves or guard got to stay until the end without going to FTC. Active duty members were getting sent there left and right.

    "You need a drivers license to have a job driving in the military" - Patently false. It's a good idea, but military vehicle licensure is completely different from civilian licensing. There isn't even any "military license" for vehicles. You will be trained on each vehicle you drive and signed off under the authority of the commanding officer you report to. This process has nothing to do with civilian drivers licenses. You will be trained to standards regardless. For example, f you're certified to drive a Humvee, an LMTV, a HMTT Wrecker, and/or an MP cruiser as part of X Brigade, Y Battalion, Z Company at Fort Bliss and you receive orders to transfer to Fort Bragg, you are no longer certified to drive anything until you are trained and your CO signs off on your license. Same thing if you get a new company commander until he endorses all of the pre-existing licenses with documentation of training. There is no universal license in the military. You are only trained and authorized to use the property of your unit under the permission of your commanding officer, emergencies excepting.

  • @sfcdimsdale6659

    Question for anyone out there that can help: I know that if I want to go to Airborne school I need to have it in my contract, otherwise it's almost impossible to get it. Is it like that for other schools? Like Rangers, Path Finder, Air Assault, Special Forces, etc.

  • @sfcdimsdale6659

    @sfcdimsdale6659

    5 жыл бұрын

    It is not impossible to get them if they are not in your contract. The only 2 schools you can get in the contract are airborne and ranger. And that is because the Army has vacancies in airborne or ranger units that they need filled. There is a big misconception that the Army gives these schools out as incentives to join. You can get them after you are in and it is not as hard as people make it out to be. Pathfinder...air assault..sniper..sapper..etc, can only be attended after you are in.
