    The part where you brought up the misconception about not having any free time/no life other than military life definitely made me feel a lot better. I leave for Marine boot camp June 17 and as the ship day nears I become more and more stressed. It's a relief to know that you'll get time to yourself, weekends off and just get up and do your job like any other job. Great video.

    Maybe now, but Recruiters in the army (some)in the late 1970's weren't checking background.why not?hmm.people were enlisted then kicked out.opinion? No. Not a story. I'M glad they are some how recruiting (how in 5days they do it?)

    The 5 day processing is very rare. With the help of technology we are able to get background checks back now within 24 to 48 hours. Every applicant is screened thoroughly.

    SFC Dimsdale My recruiter was able to sign me up for meps in 3 days, but had to wait like 4 more until I had a spot for meps. Was a very quick process. I guess it really depends on how motivated the individual is too because she saw how intrigued I was and got me in as fast as she could.

  • @sfcdimsdale6659

    @sfcdimsdale6659

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yes a lot of it deals with the individual applicant. The faster it can possibly happen is 72 hours. If you came into my office on a Monday morning and have all of your documents (social, birth cert, diploma, etc) and you have no medical problems or any other abnormal variables, I could have you at MEPS to join on Thursday. It is rare that people come to the office that prepared. Our typical applicant takes about a week or 2 unless they require a waiver or are missing documents.

    We had soldiers come in to our unit and do some fast training and six weeks later, deployed to Kuwait. But that was Pre-Invasion. We believed we were going to fight. We were ready for it, and we got our new "Joes" ready for it and in the right mindset to do their jobs. But we wished we had more time with them.

    I hate to tell you this, but a non combat arms can see combat. Because everybody who joined the military and it does not matter the branch they joined or the job they picked. At the end of the day a crucial part of their oath of enlistment/commission is to defend and protect the US from threats foreign and domestic.

    Lol!! I am lucky my family by marriage are currently military and recent veterans so when I mentioned the idea of joining at an older age married without kids, the first thing they told me is to focus in passing with a higher grade de ASVAB test. Funny they all went straight to the test and gave me an insight on how important is the test and the grade you obtain. Also they told me not to sign any papers without their knowledge. If you are going to join it helps to have a person you trust in the military to guide you.

    I was talking to a recruiter a few weeks ago, and I asked him if the army holds recruiters children hostage or something... and he was like "what do you mean?" I then asked, "why are recruiters usually so motivated to recruit people if they aren't getting bonuses for getting recruits enlisted?" He said it was cause most of them genuinely are committed to the mission. He said he loved the army. I guess that is mostly true.

    In my opinion, one thing you should cover is coach in how to respond to that one million dollar question you may be asked in the military and not just by a recruiter, which is, "Why did/do you want to join the Army?" Some new recruits may brush that question off as just an off the cut question, but it's a big question that isn't asked for nothing, and not only recriters can ask that question, but also when you're already in, it may also be asked by Drill Sergeants and other company comnanders later on, so its a brief topic that wouldn't hurt to talk about. Obviously people join for different reasons, but you should coach on how to effectively or appropriately respond to that question so at the end someone doesn't unwittingly give a vague or idiotic response, despite their real reasons why they joined.

If you join the Army, or any branch really, for benefits without making a really good assessment of whether you're a good fit for military life you will have a horrible experience in the military. There are other ways to get money for college, and I think for people that don't fit well with military life joining for those reasons is really stupid.

    Everyone is a Soldier and you will be treated as such. Support MOSs are still Soldiers and are expected to conduct themselves as such. The only way that your MOS would ever change is if you failed out of the training (which typically results in failing out of the Army).

    If you finished training and for some reason your selected MOS wasn't available you could be asked to choose a different MOS, but that would be your choice as that would be a breach of contract and it would be grounds to separate from the Army as well. The only real exception I can think of is guys that go 11X. No one is guaranteed special forces, so if you were to fail selection you'd have to go into another MOS.

    A US Army Recruiter (assigned not permanent) might not be be receiving a bonus for individual contracts, but certainly was potentially eligible for up to $500/month to extend their assignments as recruiters beyond three years effective OCT 18. Even Station Commanders can receive $375/month, if voluntarily extended. Keeping in mind this does NOT apply for ANY 79R. I saw similar offers while assigned as a US Army recruiting company commander, as I have direct experience. There are other "not fully explained" questions in this video. Any good CDR, 1SG, and station commander will adequately disperse contracts, and this means down to individual recruiter level.
