I only started learning archery about a year ago as an adult. I really like it and don’t mind practising at all. I’ve taken several sessions of beginner lessons from a private company and am being encouraged to compete in various competitions. How do you know when you are ready to compete competently as a beginner? And how do you prepare for a competition properly?

What’s the difference between archers that compete at the Olympic style competitions and those that compete in places like Vegas for money? Are their techniques any different?

Not really. Compound archers competing in World Archery events are generally the same archers competing at Vegas and Lancaster. Those are the ones making money. Recurve archers who win those events are generally Olympians or Olympic hopefuls.
