Pysanky 101 - How to Make Ukrainian Easter Eggs (Tutorial for Beginners) + Tour of My Pysanky
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Ever wonder how on earth Ukrainian Easter eggs are made? If so, stick around for this video as I’ve created this beginner’s guide to creating beautiful Ukrainian Pysanky. I learned this ancient folk art as a child and over the years, I’ve made dozens and dozens of Pysanky. I’ll first take you through some of my collection and share with you a brief overview of the art and the meaning behind some of the traditional symbols. I’ll also share the items you’ll need to get started with links below if you’re interested in giving it a try. I close with a DIY tutorial for beginners on how to create a Ukrainian Pysanky.

I'm a 76 year old dude and have never tried to do this art of Pysanky egg-decorating but tomorrow will be my first time to join a group to learn the art of decorating. I'm very excited and I have committed myself to perform well and enjoy the magic Pysanky egg decorating brings. Thank you for the Tutorial. You're an awesome instructor.
My Ukrainian roots have always prodded me learn this technique after watching my Grand mother when I was very young and only allowed to watch. 60 years later, here I am and very excited to learn.
You are the Bob Ross of pysanky. Wonderful tutorial!

Have not yet done this but got a beginners kit in a Ukrainian museum in Midwest. Can’t wait to get started. This video was very helpful getting me past the initial problem of getting the eggs symmetrically pleasing. Thanks for this video.
WOW! thank you!
I use silk ties to transfer some fancy patterns to eggs each year. A friend recommended I check out your video and try this technique. Fascinating artwork. Not sure I can draw well enough to do it, but maybe. I am a math oriented person, and there is a lot of symmetry here. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations.
I'm new to Pysanky, but am very intrigued by the art form. I am signed up soon for an in-depth training class on how to do it, so this video was extremely helpful to help me have an idea of what I'm going to learn. Can't wait and fingers crossed that this is something I'll be able to do outside of the class.
Thank you Justina! This video is beautifully done! I grew up making these with my Ukrainian/Polish Grandma (Bushi) and Dad. Going to try this again!
Thank you for this wonderful video. I have always been fascinated by this art from the day I saw them in elementary school when a student brought them in. I have always found these eggs to be so, so beautiful. I've always wanted to learn how to make them. Who knew that 50 years later and with the miracle of KZread, that I would get to see how they were made! Thank you :)
BEAUTIFUL job what a great art. Thanks for sharing such a beautiful art.

Sharing this with a friend.
Love this video! 90+ years of family tradition I'm trying to get my daughters to continue. I love that you could get the wax off scraping with the small screwdriver! I also just bought an electric kistka and I'm having much better success with that. No more wax clumps and it writes so even! Thank you for posting, I really enjoyed watching! I have found that this is a great stress reliever and I will be doing eggs all year round.
This was fascinating to watch! Thank you so much for showing us every detail, what a gift you have for making these beloved eggs. I’ve often wondered how this this technique was done, I must share with you, my sweet grandchildren and I did indeed craft those fun paper flowers last week. I wish I could share a picture of them, each one pretty and unique! I love your channel, and you!

I am from Bethlehem PA, I have known about these all my life. But here in Virginia Beach, they are not that well known. What a wonderful and so informative! I loved the video Thanks so much!
I have eggs that my grandfather made. I wish I had thought when I was teenager to ask him to show me how me made them. It will be very special to try and make these. Thanks for the amazing video.
I teach this for our 4-H kids. I leaned as a kid and had the opportunity to bring it back to our community and teach the kids. This video was very helpful. Thank you.

I loved this video. I learned about Pysanky 7 years ago. I have made several of them. I am trying to put together a class for kids to teach how to make them for an on-line platform. I am just a little bit intimidated. But I'd love to share this art with kids!

This is a really good video. I especially appreciated the explanations of the symbols, showing how to correct a mistake, and how the kistka needs unclogged at times. Highly skilled artist and teacher. Thank you and Happy Easter! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
