Wow! Another great tutorial, Justina. So informative, in fact I’m going to repaint my farm table using the acrylic top coat. I had originally used wax to finish my piece, but found out it allows stains to seep through. Your sweet sons bookshelf turned out perfectly, and what a bargain!

Thank you so very much, Cindy! ❤️🤗❤️ I agree, an acrylic top coat definitely the way to go. The wax also melts if something very hot is placed on it. Not ideal for a table top!😆

Thank you for the chalk painting tips. I’ve never done used chalk paints. Your tutorial was so informative without feeling rushed. I’m excited to begin my own bookcase project. My bookcase is a dark pine colored stain. Will this same method you explained work the same way and would I need to lightly sand the bookcase beforehand or not? Thank you soooo much!

Love this video! Have you seen any yellowing happen with the chalk paint from the sealer over time? I'm trying to avoid that issue, being a newbie chalk painter, and searching for a good was/sealer to use. Thanks!

Great video! I just used the rustoleum sealer on my rustoleum chalk paint project and it seemed to start stripping away some of the paint. What did I do wrong?

Looks great! Can you also use chalked paint to update bathroom vanities and do you have to use the sealant?

Thank you for the video! Can I ask why you chose that brush? I have a bookshelf & a dresser to paint and was wondering if that brush would be better somehow. And now the brush is $22 on Amazon 😔.

Hello! Very helpful, could you possibly recommend dry time? You mentioned the second coat went on the next day, would that mean 3 days total, including the sealant? Thanks!

Dry time is about 10-15 minutes for Annie Sloan, 30 minutes for Rustoleum. I came back on different days because I have a toddler and can’t spend any length of time on anything unless I do it in the middle of the night, lol. Sorry that wasn’t more clear in the video. Hope you have a lovely day!🌷

Wow! What a transformation! The bookcase looks awesome! I love the color you chose! It really looks nice with the wall color. Can you please let me know the color of the walls behind the bookcase? 👍🏻😊

Hi, Cheryl! Thank you so much! 🤗 The color on the walls is Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. It was their 2016 color of the year. I love it so much that I’m thinking of painting our downstairs rec room space the same color!

Is the chalk sealer you used a wax?

Hi, Lynn! For this project I used the Rustoleum sealer, which is very similar to a polycrylic. It is smooth liquid and applies in light coats with a brush, dries matte. 😁

Thank you! The odor is stronger than Annie Sloan, which practically has zero odor, but not as strong as regular latex paint. I’d crack a window. ☺️
