What are your thoughts on adding a few drops of peppermint oil to the first process to deter insecect, please?
Hang plastic bags of water with four Pennies inside, no more than 2 cups. Flies observe water movement, scares them away. Works.

We dont have screens on our doors flies r pest they just come on in weve asked the real estate
It does work. And knats get in no matter what you do
Since cucumber is a food I'm worried that it will attract insects. There's no reason for mosquitoes or flies to enter your home. There is something called screens.

To thecatatemyhomework- Well, you don't have to use it! And, "There's no reason for mosquitos or flies to enter your home. There is something called screens!" Not just in Europe, but not in rentals either! And obviously you have never had to live in a run-down, nasty, neglected place that has not seen caulking in over 50 Years! And, probably came infested with the bugs to begin with! Only people of low incomes would understand that! You are fortunate to be from an "upper income". It did not help you with your manners though!
