Pushing a Mobile AMD Ryzen APU to the LIMIT!!!
Ғылым және технология
I go to unnecessary lengths to see how much performance I can get from an entry-level AMD Ryzen APU. I push this little laptop to it's limit!

The GPU usage at 65536% usage is a glitch in MSI Afterburner; once you enable unifed GPU monitoring inside MSI Afterburner, it will show a more realistic percentage.

When I was in college back in 2008 I had a pretty hot running HP pavilion dv6809 wm, so with the use of pizza boxes and a air hockey table fan, I built a channeling contraption that pushed air through cardboard tubes up into the intake of the laptop to keep it cool. It worked.

The good thing about the 14'' and larger laptops with zen+ and zen2 cpu & apus nowdays are the storage support, it often have support for nvme + 2.5'' drive and one ram slot that you can change things out on, which can actually give your laptop a lot of storage space.

This video helps so many people with decent APUs to extend their old laptops' perfomance, significantly cheaper than going out and buying a new system. Could you make a video with more powerful processors? Like the new Ryzen 4000 series ones?... Loved your content btw.

Holy crap, the jank level is off the scale. Thanks for giving me a good laugh on an otherwise very "meh" day off from work :D
This was the jankiest experiment I've seen on youtube, but also one of the greatest!
You can run many PC fans at anything from 5v to 12v, so you should be able to power them with a usb port or cell phone power cable for low-RPM.... or find a 9v or 12v "wall-wart" power cord from something like an old cordless landline phone for mid/ high RPM.
The echo in your new space is insane
thank you. heres how you can improve it: on next tab in ryzen controller u find AMPS, crank it and love it, look how much juice charger can produce, if its 45W u might not want to go further from that, im planning to get 65W charger just to test if i can go further with it, if u crank up amps too much and psu cant keep up, system will stall to lowest energy state and needs a reboot, my ghetto cooling method is back cover removed and laptop cooler under it, it gives about -10C, but ur vid gave hope to find even more efficient solution for apu gaming
Good job can't believe how much speed gain from just extra ram
Plz do more of these vids on diferent laptops i really like this vid
It's nice seeing a new PC tech video that isn't talking about the newly released video cards. If I see another one about the RTX 3000 series I'm going to scream.

Hey Dawid, keep up the good work. Check the laptop power supply wattage, it may only be a 35 watts that's why 55 watts didn't work.

I've got a refurb laptop motherboard with a ryzen 2200U on it, I'm aiming to build a very small, custom HTPC, and use it for video, maybe game streaming, and some really low end gaming ( old emulators and stuff). So this kind of video is amazing to me.

Awesome air cooler gaming temp. If you haven't already, please try liquid cooling the APU with a 120mm AIO or custom loop or both, Dawid.

The system auto-allocates RAM to the GPU. In terms of memory, the limitation here isn't the *amount* of RAM, but it's *bandwith* Dual-channel CPU RAM just isn't optimal for GPU operation. And, of course, you can also only get so much from three Vega cores.

Hey, You should have certain courage and level of madness to do such thing ... I do like it a lot! BTW have you tried to increase infinity fabric frequency and VRM current limits? It should help a bit and I feel like here is a tiny room for improvement =) Also playing around with mem frequency also could help a bit Might be small sequel for this video?)
