It's funny, but it seems the busier the road gets, the more people act like sheep. Just staying their lane not paying attention to the surroundings. While it should be the opposite, on a quiet road there is a lot more room for error.

@@ZaneAshura So, you did not pay attention to the trooper actually lamenting the malfunction. Also, sirens only work at low speeds. If you're doing a normal interstate speed and a trooper comes up at you at 100mph+ you won't hear the siren until they are already close enough to read your bumper stickers. Blue lights are also more difficult to see on sunny days. But that does not take away from the fact some crazy car just passed you on the shoulder, and you should have the awareness to check the mirrors frequently.

​@@baldhermit having said all that driving a unmarked car with half your emergency equipment not operational its safer to 22 the chase and let someone further up the freeway pick it up rather than continue you almost put the community at the same amount of risk as the person being chased at that point. Just saying.

That stretch of interstate is extremely frustrating to drive because of such heavy 18 wheeler traffic (road needs to be three lanes). The heavy traffic makes you want to stay in left lane so you don't get boxed in and not be able to get out of right lane. I won't drive from Little Rock to Memphis because it's such a frustrating drive

Such a massively BUSY PACKED freeway at 2 in the afternoon! Tons of bumper to bumper semi trucks. What a headache. Only about half of the vehicles traveling on that freeway yielded to the right as they should have. The other half were just oblivious to their surroundings and the emergency vehicles. That's scary stuff. Great video. Thanks NST!

I always see many trucks, but with this, many more.

Anybody notice the semi-truck wreck in the other direction, causing the massive traffic jam? Well, at least those stuck got to see a show.

What a chase. That is the first PIT where the Trooper went round and round. Fortunately no injuries to the LEOS. STAY SAFE OUT THERE TROOPERS AND LEOS.

It was daydreaming day on I-40 for sure. That cop was calmer than I was watching them and telling the ones on the screen “Get out of the way!”

How frustrating that the siren was not working. Great job getting the vehicle in ditch water. But shuckins, the driver fled. That traffic is horrible.

The troopers siren wouldn't work for some reason. However, he had his lights on, and if I had an idiot pass me driving like a maniac, I would be looking around me to find out why.

They should go back on the video and send every single idiot that didn’t move over out of law enforcement’s way a huge ticket. Ridiculous idiots on the roadway’s.

After the PIT the perp thought he saw the Rio Grande and thought if he just crossed the water he was home free. Only problem is he is in Arkansas. Probably won’t get a free bus ticket to Chicago.

I -40 runs from coast to coast & is a major truck route . & West Memphis Arkansas has several truck stops .. There is always Truck traffic between Memphis & Little Rock on I-40.

One of these days, the people in Arkansas will get tired of the traffic jams caused by fleeing idiots getting PIT'd & start blocking fleeing vehicles trying to get away so they don't have to sit in traffic after a PIT in front of them. 😂 I would!

For everyone complaining about all of the traffic in the left lane, you obviously don't drive between Little Rock and Memphis very often. Traffic is heavy and it is one of the busiest truck corridors in the country. The speed limit is split. 70mph for trucks and 75 mph for cars. Split speed limits tend to cause traffic to stack. On this road, THERE WILL BE A LOT OF TRAFFIC IN THE LEFT LANE.

I love me some ASP, but seriously, if you're not equipped with a siren, you're not equipped to be pursuing anything except a pen across paper. Not day. Not night. Not any time or condition.

@@JRM1371Sorry if I offended you Jim. Nothing wrong with being from Chicago, in fact I have friends in Chicago and many happy memories of time spent there in happier and safer times. My relevant point to your complaint about continuing a pursuit without siren is that unlike Chicago, D.C., Oakland, Portland, etc. the ASP don't look for excuses to not do their job. ASP gets the job done because they are supported by leadership all the way to the Governor. When you don't have support from leadership but instead try to crucify and fire effective cops guess what happens. I feel sure that if the ASP had a policy of not continuing a pursuit without siren, windshield wipers, parking lights or cigarette lighter this trooper would have called it a day and gone to the house. By the way, when was the last time you went to downtown Chicago without fearing for your life. Good luck to you and I hope you eventually get some leadership that supports your law enforcement. By the way, he did report to dispatch that his siren wasn't working.

The main problem with your theory is that someone this desperate to get away is likely to pull into a service station at first opportunity and carjack someone (possibly killing an innocent) in order to change appearance or just get a fresh tank of gas. Then they are off to the next crime scene. If you were carjacked by this dude because police called off the chase when they could have stopped him you would be screaming shenanigans again. Sometimes things are not as simple as you think. Fortunately, the troopers don’t think that way and the only bad thing that happened was muddy boots.

Crazy notion, but maybe more cars would be moving out of this Trooper's way if he used his SIREN!!! That's what it's for, so they can hear you before they see you..
